Skada Damage Meter

Table of Contents

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

Note: I took a tiny break from WoW (a decade), but recently started playing SoD. Be aware that this addon may not quite work yet.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is easy to extend, and there were once many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality. However, there are unlikely to be any maintained ones currently.

I have the same problem as Misanagi. I also tried to disable all other addons and still get errors, closing the WoW client. At some point i was in ICC25 and couldn't even login anymore until i disabled Skada completely. I think it somehow corrupts the saved data, so if i delete all skada files it's resolved temporarily. I LOVE this addon and i'd really like to keep using it, but for that i'd have to see this stability issue resolved.

What is up with DOT damage? I was in an Uld raid and some guys Recount report showed me with 2.2k more DPS than I had on Skada for the same boss fight (4.1k Skada and 6.3k Recount Frostfire Mage).

So I loaded Recount on my machine did a OOM run on a practice dummy with no pets and checked both detailed damage reports line by line and noticed that there was no DOT damage listed in the Skada report. The initial difference was 1.2k, after factoring the DOT damage it was only a difference of about 250dps which is a heck of a lot better.

I LOVE Skada and DO NOT want to go back to the Omen/Recount combo I had before. Please fix this, or tell me what setting to change.

DoT damage is included in Skada, but it is not shown separately like in Recount. Compare total damage done and it should be equal. DPS differences are due to different formulas and different start/end logic. Check the tooltip in the DPS mode to see the actual formula used by Skada.

This is a very good approach for a damage meter addon!

Could you please fix one minor issue:
When I toogle on "Reverse bar growth", the title bar is at the bottom, which is fine, but by default it shows up the last 10 records, which should rather be the first 10.
The mousewheel scrolling is also inverted with this option activated.

is there an easy way to get shaman totems and pets (spirit wolves, fire elemental, magma totem) to show up as part of total dps vs. as separate entities?

The only option I haven't seen with this fantastic addon, is the ability to remove people from the list, or only report one specific line. Maybe I've just overlooked it, who knows. If this isn't already built in, I'd love to see it.

How do I enable data collecting when testing on dummies? Is there a fubar plugin similar to RecountFu planned? I miss seeing my DPS infight when looking at my fubar.

When you enter combat data is being collected.

Skada has a data feed built-in. You just need an LDB (LibDataBroker) display addon to show it. There are many of those around, like TitanPanel, NinjaPanel, Fortress, Bazooka.

Why is skada handling dummy fights different than normal boss fights or just farming? I found no option to enable or something that disables dummy testing.
Also the shadow damage of scourge strike is not shown, only physical damage.

Is skada less resource intensive than using Recount and Omen together? I will try it and would expect so, but I wonder if anyone knows for sure.

Yes, run bother addons and download an addon usage addon and compare how much both consume. You'll notice Skada will pwn on efficiency.

Yes I would like something like that too, Omen has it but Skada doesn't.

You don't want the tanks to shout at you: "YOU CAN NOT DO THAT WHEN I USE TAUNT ON GHOULS!" ... pulls agro from horror because hurr couldn't see what my actual threat was :s

Is there any way to check previous death logs? I couldn't figure out how to check first death log if person died more then 1 time through the fight, it always shows last.

Great addon, I switched from Recount to this a few weeks back and i'm glad i did. The one feature that i wish this had was the Total Bar at the top of each window, so at a glance you can see the entire raid dps, or the total healing done, instead of having to scroll through the whole list to see what the total is by adding it up manually.

There is actually a a raid dps bar, although its not where you would expect it. If you look at the fight list itself, you know where there is Healing DPS Interrupts etc you can see the raid dps to the right of the DPS bar

There is also a "data feed" option that shows, among other things, raid DPS. The data feed is shown in your LDB display.

This seems like a very nice addon and I was just about to start using this instead of Recount, however there doesn't seem to be any name on the mainframe so you can't bind eePanels/kgPanels to Skada. I hope this will be changed since atm that's the only reason I won't use Skada since it looks dumb when everything in my UI has a bound backgroundframe except Skada.
