ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
My problem is that i can not open the bags after i use this addon one day. (World of Warcraft v2.0.4)
Error on german client with v1.30 beta 2007-01-13-15-30:
Fehler: attempt to index field 'item' (a nil value) AddOn: ArkInventory Datei:ArkInventory.lua Zeile:1977 Fehler Nummer:4
Same error like Tarannt.
I have found the problem.... the LIB!!! Addon Libary was the Problem...whithout it i have no probs
Yea my Bags reset 2-3 times today too :(
I spent 2 hours sorting my bag perfectly TWICE and it reset on logout. also my custom categories disappear.
Thanks alot :)
"How do you add Custom Categories?"
option menu > custom categories > add new category > type in a name and press enter
"somehow it just freezes for 2 secs and then responds is this normal"
i'm not sure, i've turned debug on and then moved the window around the screen and most times it'll totally lockup for a couple of seconds and then come back - but AI hasn't processed anything, nor did an event trigger. it could just be that the window has a lot of elements on it and the blizzard ui doesn't like moving that much stuff around? it's not consistent as well, it only seems to happen very infrequently (except the first time)
How do you add Custom Categories?
"all i want is a different setup in my bank window then i have in my backpack."
nearly done, the majority of the options will be local to each window except the obviously global things and an items category, which i presume you won't want to change, you just want to change what bar a category lives on in the different windows?
ok well that sorts that out ;)
next question is, why is it that when i got the bank window openend it causes "lag" when u move stuff around... somehow it just freezes for 2 secs and then responds is this normal or it this a bug that is caused by another addon??
Relaxed
At the moment this is not possible, it's one of the things at ark's todo list.
Kind Regards
hi ive downloaded and tried this on for size. i love it and all, the only setback for me is that the category numbers correspond from backpack to bank so i cant customize the bank and backpack seperatly they just get linked together, all i want is a different setup in my bank window then i have in my backpack
did i miss something or is this just not possible??
"Is there going to be a search option, like Sanity used to have. to search character or even all characters. With all the excellent new functions in this a search is the last thing I miss."
at this point, no, sanity2 does what it does quite well, i still use it for that purpose myself. the ability to view your alts data was actually an unintentional side effect of being able to view your bank offline. i won't be getting rid of it but i also won't be improving on it either.
Is there going to be a search option, like Sanity used to have. to search character or even all characters. With all the excellent new functions in this a search is the last thing I miss.
Salleh and Arkayenro
Thanks for the info, I just wasn't seeing how to do either from looking so hard I guess, mind you in fairness I only got 1.29 yesterday when I posted the query, bad timing on my part or good timing on your part for just adding the bag changer ;))
"Also, how do you go about replacing a bag for a larger one, for example Silk Pack for a Runecloth bag, I don't have bag buttons showing on screen and can't see any way to activate a view of the bags in the mod..."
you'll need at least 1.29 (at a minimum), and then click on the menu > Hidden frames > Bag Changer (make sure it's not ticked)
when you're finished with the bag changer frame you should always turn it off as it makes the mod work harder and thus slower (it has to rescan every bag while that frame is open to ensure the data is accurate because theres no API function that tells me when you've swapped bags or dropped a bag from your bank directly into a bag slot)
Hi Ark
I've seen you added the profile options in v 1.29. But the way you do it loses all possibility to place these default options.
I've added a v1.291 in the fans update where i changed it again and added to all of your dewdrop menu's the ability to close it in the dropdown menu itself. Kinda hated it when in edit mode and i right clicked the wrong one i did not have the option to close the dropdown.
Anyway my thanks for the update on the profiles.
Btw i understand you would rather maintain the code by myself, you assure it is well formatted in that way. Anyway whenever i got something i want to add in this huge and great mod, i will be posting it to the fans update project.
Kind regards
Az
