Usually, there hasn't really been a difference between having, for example, six rows of 2 icons instead of two columns of 6 icons.
One place where it does get annoying is when you need to switch between Bartender and the native action bars - for horizontal bars everything can be set up so that all your buttons/icons are in the same place, but if you have a vertical bar you have no such option. This happens easily if you run WoW on more than one machine, and one of them isn't running a lot of addons (such as a Steam Deck setup for example).
Instead, in Blizz action bar it will look like this:
1 7
2 8
3 9
4 A
5 B
6 C
And in Bartender with six rows of two it will look like this:
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8
9 A
B C
Just having the option of making it order the buttons in columns rather than rows would therefore be incredibly helpful when switching layouts from one to another.
you can already do this. Change the number of buttons per row to 6 and change the vertical growth to Down. Then set your keybinds to however you want. The buttons really do not have a number location, its based on how you set up your keybinds as to the order.
I'm not sure what I'm missing here, My settings in Bartender4 does not have a "buttons per row" option.
There is a only a "buttons" option and a "rows" option (set to 12 and 6 respectively), and I already have Vertical Growth to Down. If I was to have buttons per row to 6 effectively (ie "rows" set to 2), it will be horizontal like this:
1 2 3 4 5 6
7 8 9 A B C
Which is not the same as the vertical layout I would want if I have it alongside the side of the screen:
So how are do you mean that the functionality is already there? Am I missing something completely obvious somewhere?
