ChatSounds
Description
I often miss guild and party messages popping up on my screen since they don't make a sound.
I figured I'd make a mod to solve the problem. :)
Features
- Can play new sounds for
- Whispers
- Guild
- Officer
- Party and Party Leader
- Raid and Raid Leader
- Battlegrounds and BG Leader
- Custom player joined channels
- Force Whisper sounds for every whisper.
- Blacklist specific custom channels (for example hidden channels joined by addons)
- Allows users to /r after sending a whisper without getting a reply.
- Has a Configuration Dialog Box which is accessible through the comic bubble icon next to the Chat Frame.
- Saves its settings per character.
Configuration
- Click the comic bubble icon on top of the Chat Frame and select 'ChatSounds' from the menu.
- '/chatsounds' at the command prompt.
- '/chatsounds ?' will give help for extra commands.

Using internal game sounds to make it working with 1.11.

Been looking for a chat alert type mod since 1.10. I'm at work so I can't test this till I get home. This still working? :)
It's not a big deal. I realized I could click the Defaults button, and feel okay doing so.
The addon currently works fine, and I have no clear ideas for additions, so until/unless a future patch breaks its functionality, it's living on.
If a patch does break it, I'll do my best to update it to comply.
that just sucks the big one.. =( best addon to date now its ending.. it took almost a year for someone to make a addon like this, so i dont think anyone else will pick it up /sad-day for chatsound.
Really like being able to choose in/out-going sounds. Great job. :)
Minor problem though: I removed all of the default sound files (they're too chirpy/mechanical) and put my own files in. When I changed the 'default sound' section, all of the sounds when I log in for the first time (per character) are set to None.
Also, would be good if you added a comment to that file that tells us what to set those defaults to to achieve a "None" -- I want to, by default, set all of the outgoing sounds to None, but didn't know of a way without guessing.
From my SoundList.lua file:
ChatSounds_Sound["Yo"] = { file=true, value="Interface\\Addons\\ChatSounds\\Sounds\\Yo.wav" }
AND THEN CHANGED THIS LINE TO:
ChatSounds_Defaults.Incoming["GUILD"] = "Yo"
But when I log into the game for the first time on a character, Incoming Guild is set to "None."
Some friends and I have our own custom channel we auto join when we log on since some of our characters are cross guilded, so support for custom channels would be useful. Hope to see it added at some point. :D
After trying this addon for a bit now. i noticed something, When im AFK it dont tell ppl that i am.. I lost that abilaty. any way of getting that back? if not ohh well, they wount know im afk then =)
working good so far, havent seen any bugs yet.. only tested /w so far did'nt get a group, raid, or try guild yet.. I'll let you know if any thing pops up..
Love the addon allready but DAMN the /r bug was driving me crazy :)
Looking forward to the controls of in/out chat sounds.
I could wait too hehe, aslong as your working on it.. so far i like it very much.. keep up the good work
devla: Forget what I said. I wasn't thinking. BTW, its fixed. :)
MayDay: If you get around to doing a menu you should check out http://www.wowwiki.com/ if you haven't already. I've found the site very useful.
Dsanai: I'm planning on making it so you can choose sounds for both incoming and outgoing messages. You would also be able to select no sound. Please bare with the current version.
Yes, would prefer if outgoing whispers didn't cause the sound to play. :|
if this is supose to work like this. when I /w someone it dings when i send it? and whats the force whisper sound do?
Hi, 0.6 breaks the reply-button..
I never had any problems replying to people with the R button before upgrading, and if I disable only chatsounds my reply-button works again.
going to add this right away!!
Still using my own chat alert, never got around to doing menus and finding out how to disable the default alerts in case somebody wanted that.
It's good to se you made something solid and managable, im going to try it out...
