Chatter

Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel

Chatter works just as good as Prat, but misses the keybindigs to channels Prat has. Use Lazy Chat Binds, it still works, just load out of date addons, or bump the number up to 40100 (for now)... http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info17601-LazyChatBinds.html :)

Hi there, i just updated today to the latest chatter 1.3.1. after logging in, Bugsack got som chatter bugs and chatter ain't work anymore.

Is there any way to get player names colored by class without first doing a /who Player on each individual person? Currently 99% of all player names are grey, with the 1% that I've /who'd colored correctly.

Right click on chat tap, filter options, check the boxes for in classcolors. its a wow standart option, not realy chatter specific.

When it will be updated to Cataclysm?
It still lives in Wrath as "max level" is 80 in the code.
Also, all the tickets with patches attached on http://www.wowace.com/addons/chatter/tickets/

I recently downloaded chatter and typically for some guild mates when they write something in Gchat it shows what is in their public note box,how do i disable this so it does not show?,any help appreciated

I get this error when I use Carbonite to set a main's name on alt's toon (right click name in chat box, choose 'set main', type name into popup box), and I hit enter instead of clicking Accept. I'm posting this here since it lists Chatter and not Carbonite. Please let me know if I'm down the wrong rabbit hole. :)

Oh, the alt linking isn't a Carbonite function, it is Chatter. So... looks like this is the correct rabbit hole.

Hey there, I was wondering if there is a way to disable highlights in specific channels. I love the highlight feature, but I don't want it popping up at me in a channel i don't care about because my keyword is part of a word someone said.

The mousewheel scroll works, but no matter how many lines I set it to, it still scrolls 1 per click.

If it helps, when I uncheck the button to enable mousewheel scroll, it still lets me scroll with the wheel. The options save correctly though, when I open them up, they're how I left them.

Is it possible to make the clipboard bigger and resizeable? t limits the amount of chat frame's contents that can be copied at once due to its current size.

Since tickets are not currently being looked at, will point out ticket 220 here ("wrong hooking of ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler") (I assume that 4.0.6 has changed things a bit).

And a different problem in WoW 4.0.6 (only) I have experienced here: Chatter's ChatScroll.lua module is tainting.

this addon creates a lua error, because of some weird blizzard api bug with the remove glyph function (auctioneer has the same problem).

you can't remove a glyph with this addon enabled.
