Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel

There is a bug with the Blizzard taint reporter where the addon reported as causing the taint is the last addon that has been accessed. It has nothing to do with what addon actually caused that tainted path. The addon that Blizzard reports as causing taint will basically just most likely be reported as one of your more active addons.

Feature Request:
I don't know if this is possible, but I'd love it if we could set different fonts for each channel, in addition to each window. No matter what colour I make officer chat, I always miss it during the raids. Thanks!

because it has bugs that aren't being fixed and it's not being updated for each patch, that's a dying addon

@creepy_inc: I hardly can imagine such issue.

Chat* logging done on the game level, addon only control if the game would log it or not.

The *combat* logging *potentially* could affect your game performance, if you're playing on seriously dated hardware. But that's out of this addon's discussion scope, as it does not control THAT setting.

I can't set text fade time with Chatter. For example, I want the text to fade out in 15 seconds. But there is no option. I find it hard to believe. Maybe I'm missing it?

How do you increase the font size of the chat edit box text? It's too small for me as default. Can Chatter do this?

when this addon is loaded how do you get the chat window to be able to be moved? i can resize the window but i cant move the window from the original spot. also with the social button being moved to the top left corner of the chat window i have lost this button as well. any help with either of these problems would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Is there an issue now with Chatter allowing the Chat Test Fading/Disappearing? I have deleted my Chatter files including the WTF files with no success in fixing this. The Disable Fading Module has no effect because the text never disappears or fades. Any ideas on this?

thx for this addon. I've used it so long time. but in this version, I can't invite my friend by "alt-click" and see the informations of character by "shift-click". when i did it, chatter did nothing. of course, I've checked the option "use alt click invite" in interface menu. and sometimes, the button that set the chatting window scroll to bottom disappered. in fact, previous version could make it by "shift-wheel". can't I do it again?

like this addon thnx, but was wondering how do i display more lines of text or make the chat box bigger to do so (besides making the font smaller) ?
