Chatter

Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel

Is anyone else having the issue where your chat font randomly changes from what you've set it to? I'll open some window up and the entire chat window will revert to the default chat font or something. Is there a macro that can be run to set the chat font without haivng to go into the chatter menu?

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to change the Edit box chat size? with the new patch, my edit box size is about size 10 font, pretty small.

I came here for the same reason! I can change the size of the chat box text, but not the edit box text. It's so tiny! Help!

I am having a BIG problem with chatter: I cant click any links in game on my alts which are on a separate realm. It seems to prefer my main, which is cool, but I have alts that I'd like to use this addon with.

Example, I need to see a JC Link, I cant click it. If loot drops, I can't click it. If i want to whisper someone, I cant click them. But if I am on my main, I have no trouble. help?

That has nothing to do with chatter. Right click on General on your chat window and the second option make sure it to Interactive, if you have it on Noninteractive no links, clicks or anything will work.

I have an issue where anytime i scroll onto my other monitor and come back to my monitor running wow and click and drag (sometimes just click) it opens up the chat box. It will also do it if i open a map up or any window and close it. It seems slightly intermittent but it is definitely Chatter sicne Ive disabled everything except chatter ad it continues to do this. any help would be great, i love this addon.

LOVE this chat mod! But either I accidentally changed a setting that I can't find, or the little arrow that used to pop up to bring you to the bottom of chat if you had scrolled is missing. Please help/fix! Thanks!!! :)

Check where your input box is located. For instance if you have your chat window flush with the bottom of your screen, and your input box is in its default position which is below the chat window, then it will actually be off screen and not visible.

I had this issue before, but since I like my chat window flush in the bottom corner of my screen, I just oriented my input box above the chat window rather than below it.

Question.

Is there any way to set max log size?

It's not something you normally think about until you need to find something in it.
It's massive! I have a professional text editor, and -it- was even struggling...

If not, I'd like to make a suggestion.
Either have a pre-set max log file size, and once it reaches the limit, have it archive, or in the logging options, have it to where you can set your own max file size limit before being archived.

It'd be really nice to see an update for this. I'd post my errors but they're pretty much what everyone else has posted. Also, and I don't know if this is your or the other guys fault, this addon doesn't work with StarTip.

I like the chat buttons but they just disappear with no reason. The only way I can get them back is to uninstall and reinstall. Yes I do know there is a disable button but this does nothing when the go away.

When "set main" on friends list I get an error (below) and it turns the UI off (have to press alt-z to bring back)
