This table lists font files discovered in the addon, their MD5 hashes, and the specific versions of fonts they were matched to. Following the table is a discussion of individual fonts or families and their licensing implications for the way they are distributed with this addon.
This font is clearly marked as being in the public domain. As such, it has no restrictions on distribution or use. BlackChancery happens to be one of the oldest and best known public domain TrueType fonts.
This version of Centaur was licensed by Microsoft to distribute with several of their software products, including Microsoft Office. The EULA for this font does not allow it to be distributed in an unlimited manner such as with an addon. Information for licensing a current version of this font for distribution with software can be found at the Microsoft typography website. If this proves to be cost prohibitive, the author should probably stop distributing these fonts with the addon.
Nate is really into independent comic books. His fonts require written permission to redistribute. While an information file describing the font's license accompanies these fonts in the addon, it's not clear whether the addon author has received written permission from Nate. The addon author should probably clarify this. Nate can be contacted at [email protected] or through his web site.
Ritzy/Spacedweller disappeared from the font scene in 2001. He remarks on his old web site that his fonts are free to use (all he asks is that users of his fonts "pay attention"), but does not mention redistributing them outside of that web site. Old email addresses for him were [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]. Because these fonts are clearly marked as copyrighted, and distribution rights for these fonts are unclear, the addon author might wish to reconsider distributing them this way.
Graham is an Australian designer who has released many cool fonts of his own over the past 15 years. He has also participated in a number of workshops that released collaborative efforts. Different fonts have different distribution requirements. The addon author should probably contact Graham to confirm these requirements at [email protected] or through his web page at Moorstation.
Dustin hasn't released any fonts in years, and has let both of his internet domains lapse. I hope this means he finally got his dream job in the music industry! All his fonts are freely distributable under GPLv2 or later. The addon author has correctly included a copy of this license with the fonts. Authors can find a few other free fonts from Dustin at a snapshot of his web site from the Internet Archive.
Ray Larabie is a highly regarded font and user interface designer. Ray accepts donations for using his fonts, although he would prefer users to visit his commercial font release web site instead. Different versions of his fonts have different licenses for distribution. In particular, his web site states that newer versions cannot be distributed. No licensing information accompanies the specific versions distributed with this addon, so the addon author should probably confirm any requirements with Ray. He can be reached at [email protected].
Enviro is a pen-style font designed by Esselte Corporation and distributed by Microsoft with a small number of its software products. The EULA for this font does not allow it to be distributed in an unlimited manner such as with an addon. Information for licensing a current version of this font for distribution with software can be found at the Microsoft typography website. If this proves to be cost prohibitive, the author should probably stop distributing these fonts with the addon.
This version of the Tw Cen MT family was licensed by Microsoft to distribute with several of their software products, including Microsoft Office. The EULA for this font does not allow it to be distributed in an unlimited manner such as with an addon. Information for licensing a current version of this font for distribution with software can be found at the Microsoft typography website. If this proves to be cost prohibitive, the author should probably stop distributing these fonts with the addon.
Nick designs beautifully hand-crafted fonts which have been featured in well known publications, advertising, and packaging. Some of his fonts are freeware and some are commercial. Based on the EULA on Nick's web site, it's probably okay to distribute this font with an addon. However, the addon author should probably contact Nick to confirm any documentation requirements. He can be reached at [email protected] or through his web site.
Phil has labored ceaselessly on his beautiful, comprehensive Linux Libertine font package. It is one of the best designed and well documented open licensed fonts. Linux Libertine may be freely distrubted under the GPL and OFL. The addon author has properly included license documentation with these fonts. However, a newer version of this font family with better on-screen hinting is available. The addon author is encouraged to update to this newer version from the SourceForge web site.
Frantisek started the Stormtype Fontclub foundry in the Czech Republic, which together with DizajnDesign in the Slovak Republic, represent some of central Europe's best new designs. A few versions of their fonts are available free only for limited distribution. It's unclear whether the font's designer allows distribution with software like an addon. The addon author should contact the publisher at [email protected] to confirm eligibility and documentation requirements.
Segoe Print is a handwriting font developed and distributed by Microsoft only with Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows 7. The EULA for this font does not allow it to be distributed in an unlimited manner such as with an addon. Information for licensing a current version of this font for distribution with software can be found at the Microsoft typography website. If this proves to be cost prohibitive, the author should probably stop distributing these fonts with the addon.
The GNOME foundation maintains and distributes the liberally licensed Vera Sans family in cooperation with Bitstream. The addon author has neglected to include appropriate licensing documentation with these fonts. The author can find correct documentation at the GNOME web site.
