Data Broker Volume Control
The main goal of this addon is to provide a Data Broker icon/text to set the game volume, but you can use it in many other ways.
Usage
- With a Data Broker display
- With the icon on the minimap
- With the command line
Icon
- Left-Click: Mute sound
- Right-Click: Display the sliders menu
- Shift+Right-Click: Display the options menu
Options menu
- Blizlike mute
- Show/Hide the minimap icon
- Queued volume boost
- No tooltip mode
- Close the menu
What is blizlike mute? Default mute behavior do not switch off music, with this disabled it will.
When using a DataBroker display, using the mouse wheel on the icon change the master volume value.
Queued volume boost will set master volume to 100%, unmute and enable background sounds when a random dungeon/raid/scenario group is ready, and return all options to previous state when entering the dungeon/raid/scenario.
No tooltip mode will display the sliders menu when hovering the icon, and the options menu will display on right click.
Command line
Commands: "/bv", "/brokervolume" (They do the same thing)
- /bv: Display commands help.
- /bv show: Show the minimap icon
- /bv <master|effects|music|ambience> <0-100>, will set the volume for the given category.

In reply to bjornskald:
Can you pls update this to BFA? It doesnt show up now
The dialog volume for some reason always go to 100% whenever I login.
Thank you for this addon!
I would love it if shift+right-click also showed options for changing Game Sound Output as well so that I can change to and from headset and speakers more fluently.
Seems to be mostly working in legion but there are some outdated options like headphone mode that should probably be trimmed out.
Well i love this addon, but i have many problems with him. If i mute the Sound and the LFR or Dungeon Invite is coming then it put all time my sound on 100%. Thats horrible for my ears.. and all time i heard the f... npc dialogue
There is something in the addon that turns off the system setting for Sound in the Background. I like it on, but the addon seems to be unchecking it.
I wish I had come across this post a long time ago. I have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why "sound in background" kept getting reverted to off every time the game went through a loading screen. Today I finally thought to try disabling this addon on the off chance it was the culprit. It was. The issue went away immediately after disabling this addon. I came here to report the issue, and found you had already done so.
Why is this inhibiting the saving of the "sound in the background" option (yet no other options, it seems)? Please fix your addon. It's unusable for me in its current state.
Ok so I looked through the Core.lua file of this addon...and found this gem of a function:
I bolded the important part. So...what the hell is the point of that? Bizarre.
To fix this, either change that last "0" to a "1" in your Core.lua file (it's in line 799), or delete every instance of the "A:SetBackgroundSound()" function being called in the whole file (there are 3 such instances).
Mute is broken. With activated mute certain sounds get filtered but some don't. Queue pop sound still is on, certain npcs dialogues, terribly annoying and too loud by default fight victory sound (perhaps an option to disable it altogether across all states?), pre-boss trash emotes as well as boss emotes through fight - they are all hearable.
Hello very nice addon!
Is it possible to add saved profiles/sets of sound settings? In example when I raid I want all the sounds to be in 0, except master volume. But when I am out of the raid I use a custom sound setting.
If you could add profiles/sets we would be able to load them fast.
Kostas, thanks.
Will this please get updated? I believe it's missing Dialogue sound volume option from game menu options.
Yes it will, but it just require a toc bump. Dialog volume is supported.
Indeed, thank you. I was judging by screenshots which are apparently older than the 'live version' :D I also edited Interface version so it's fine:)
I would have one request, that if fulfilled, would make the addon perfect for me :) - could you add option for toggling headphone mode? I keep switching from speakers to headphones in the evening and sometimes late at night, and I do hear difference between how things sound, so I still have to go to options to toggle it on and off. Having it on broker would be perfect.
Good idea, I will add all the options, just in case someone want another one. :)
Thank you! :)
My bad, on the first login, the addon will use your option value to set his option value for the background sound.
Same problem as Koleckai, had to deactivate the addon. :<
Would have been a nice addon if it didn't keep turning of background sound for every character. I turned this on in the System menu for a reason. You should respect that.
Took me ages to figure out this was the addon that was making my ears bleed every time I had a Dungeon/LFR queue pop, Glad its something I can now disable.
