There are not a plenty of bags-management-AddOns that feature a Guild Vault support. If someone (like me) loves the organization of items by type / profession / and so on, and wants it for EVERY bag in the game (personal/bank/vault), ArkInventory actually is the only one decent choice. That's a good AddOn, BUT I always liked much more the look&feel of Baggins. Also, Arkinventory is not very handy about categories management and, more importantly, it is so damned SLOW when moving items.
That said, I see that FamBags is heavily inspired by Baggins, and I really like the look&feel of your AddOn. The Thing is: at the moment it is exposed to the same lack of Baggins (no Guild Vault support, and categories are particularly useful with the Guild Vault because of the enormous dimensions of it!).If FamBags will ever let the player categorize the guild vault just a his own/bank bags, it should suddenly become the DEFINITIVE bags AddOn, because it will feature at the same time "improved about features over Baggins" but "more lighweight, fast and good to look at over ArkInventory). The perfect fusion! :)
Bye and good work with this great addon
Ok, sold. I like the idea. I'll start projecting this. Can't promise it will be ready for this stage but definitely it's in.
I forgot to mention something about implementation. I'm sure you know ArkInventory, but if it's not the case, well it does not hurt to give you an observation, for what useless it should be, lol:
the author's choice was to implement the guildbank frame as tabbed (as the blizzard's). I don't know if the choice was made because of coding difficulties or simply because one single untabbed frame would become enormous to fit any screen on any resolution an UIscale, but I definitely think that a tabbed implementation is better because if anyone (not my case) plays with a low resolution, he needs to save screen-space.
Next time I see ArkInventory's GuildBank frame, I'll try to get some ideas about it's lacks and features.
Ok, maybe helps too the fact that, at least in my xp, guilds use tabs as another level of organization to keep things under control.
Hi Fammy! How's the progress on this? ;)
Hey Anasuelli,
I have 2 big developments that I need to face: Alts support and Guild Vault support. I decided to go first with Alts support since there's a bunch of people asking it and also I want to have a more stronger addon before facing the Guild Vault support, so, it will need to wait a little longer. Hope you understand.
Surely I understand! Don't even mention it! I just wanted to update myself on your progress about this! ;)
Actually, I really do like the idea of this addon with Alts support either, it's another important feature.
Cool, thanks
Something to be aware of when you implement this is that the guild bank being a shared resource is going to be tricky to handle the positioning of items with. I know with our guild vault we organize the tabs in a very particular way (unfortunately manually) and sometimes need to convey position information to other guild members (E.G. I put that enchant you wanted in tab 3 second column from the right, third row down). I'm not sure exactly how to balance the convenience of categorized views with the need to allow explicit control of item placement other than maybe providing a quick access button to swap back and forth between actual layout and categorized layout quickly. Being able to quickly re-order items in the bank by categories might be nice to, but would also be somewhat dangerous in most guilds because members typically have a limited number of withdrawals per day and a auto-organizing function could quickly burn through them all just moving stuff around. Maybe default the feature to off but allow user to toggle it on after clicking through a warning dialog?
Loving the addon, and I definitely want this feature, but just pointing out some of the things to keep in mind when you're trying to figure out how to implement it.
Yes, I considered that in the design. First, Guild Bank support will be (almost sure, not decide yet) a separated addon. The idea is to have an easy option to switch view between categorized and real organization. Categorized view never moves items, it just show'em with a different sorting (even now in famBags bags and bank), items never change its real slots so unless u try to do an item stacking optimization, it wont be a problem. Resuming: my idea is to give the options to handle it as categorized or real view, you'll use it at your discretion.
