Description

Search, filter and craft gems in the game!

For non-Jewelcrafters, GemHelper serves as a encyclopedia for gems much like what AtlasLoot Enhanced is for instance and reputation loot. With many search filters for the exact gem colours, stats and materials, users can quickly find the best gem to socket into their new equipment without having to harass a Jewelcrafter or check a website about what gems are available.

For Jewelcrafters, GemHelper goes a step further and allows users to craft gems directly from the GemHelper UI with extra options such as "Have Materials" that Enchanters currently have. Jewelcrafters are also able to replace the default Blizzard Jewelcrafting UI.

The gem tooltips will list the materials needed to craft it or the location where the gem can be found/purchased. Currently, the database contains 565 gems. All gems should be (more or less) safe to query the server for (the link) because if someone has the gem on the server (in inventory, bank or socketted in gear) and has logged on since the last server reboot, it will be safe to query.

To use GemHelper, type /gh or /gemhelper ingame. If you are a Jewelcrafter, you open the GemHelper window by pressing the Jewelcrafting button on your actionbar or spellbook.

This addon can be used along with CraftList2, ATSW, Skillet.

Quirks

If you open the GemHelper window via the slash command (/gh or /gemhelper), you will not be able to craft gems from it. You must open the GemHelper window via the Jewelcrafting button on your actionbars/spellbook. This is NOT a bug and is a limitation of the WoW game engine.

What I need

Localization information for various languages:
With the changes before Cataclysm was released many gems got renamed, new names introduced, some removed, etc. I'm unable to accurately update the existing non-English translations of GemHelper. I have enabled the Localization pages for everyone who can, to submit translations to be used for GemHelper.
Also, please review this ticket and post whatever information you can on non-English name structures. Thanks.

I upgraded to Gemhelper, (I can not put gems that without him), put the 6 new rough gems, and all 73 new gems, graphically not perfect, but has all the gems and functional like before, but updated with new gems ...

I'll send a pm for the author to see what he thinks, let's wait for his response ... hugs

In case you all didn't know... Xinhuan also created the addon Omen which we all know is extremely popular. In the past, Xinhuan always worked on and updated Omen first and foremost. I wouldn't expect a new gemhelper, especially with the fact that the addon itself has run out of room to display more gems, to come out for at least another 2 weeks.

For a patch 3.2 update can I suggest that you make the 2nd section that selects on gem type into a drop down that is gem type and changing this drop down displays/hides the appropriate check boxes for the raw gem stones.

This would reduce the clutter of this part of the screen, allow full gem names to be easily displayed and add the feature for selecting by gem quality.

Drop down would have "BC greens", "BC Rares", "BC Epics", "WotLK greens", "WotLK Rares", "WotLK Epics". Then the tick boxes would only show for say

Eye of Zul, Dreadstone, etc

This should work as if you are wanting to select by gem type you typically know if you have a Rare or an epic gem to cut :)

This is very helpful. Maybe I missed how to do it, but it would be nice if the list was sorted by level (epic, rare, etc...) or by the level of the filtered selection (+15 SP, then +12 SP, +10, etc...), or even alphabetically. Right now it seems random (or I don't see the pattern). Thanks for putting this together.

Already posted about severe taint issues (Ticket 6), it's now cropping up again WITHOUT DKPProfiler enabled. Turning this mod off gets rid of all the errors. Not sure what's going on, but would be greatly appreciated if this was looked into. I've had to keep this disabled in order to use my own project, which kinda blows. :(

First thank you for putting together an awesome addon!!! Secondly, I don't know whether there is a any interest in adding functionality to this addon but the only thing that I can find to wish for is some boolean logic. I would like to be able to have each stat have two check boxes (one for checked and one for "not" mutually exclusive, or both could be empty) or a check box that when clicked multiple times rotates through being checked then to being "not" then to being empty. The not part of the deal is the functionality that I am looking for, so that I can say I am looking for a gem that will do spell power and haste but I don't want(or "not") attack power. The way the filter by statistic area works at the moment it is one big "or" this stat or this stat or this stat, etc., etc. ideally I want to be able to say this stat and/or this stat but not this other stat. Also, whenever I ran the cursor over one of the gems in the list, I got a "Could not parse the item link xxxxx" error.
