It would be helpful in some situations if it were possible to show unlearned recipes in the Gnomeworks Tradeskill Frame. Primary I would want to use this feature combined with the lilsparkys workshop addon. As it would allow me to see which unlearned recipes are profitable and therefore I should learn next in situations where recipes are not easily available (require farming/tokens to purchase/reputation/etc) rather than wasting my time guessing.
I would suggest the visibility of unlearned should be controlled by a filter in the 'recipe' column, with the settings 'Show All/Learned/Unlearned'. Combined with the Ackis Recipe List 'Source' Filter this would allow me to restrict my view of recipes to, for example, unlearned Jewelcratfting recipes available from Instances. Thus showing me what I should queue for. Additionally, this filter should default to 'Learned' so as not to confuse new users of Gnomeworks though.
yeah, this is something i had sorta working in skillet. my theory is maybe a little quirky, but it makes sense in the scheme of things. what i did in skillet was to take the current list of trades being viewed and create a grouping layout based on shared skills with other toons.
for example, you're viewing toon A's skill and you can select a grouping layout called "toon B" which contains two groups: "known" and "unknown". "known" is the list of skills that toon A shares with toon B. unknown is the list of skills that toon A has that toon B doesn't have. when you then view all recipes, this would give you the list of known and unknown skills for each toon.
the reason i would do it this way is that gw doesn't necessarily know all the recipes. if you haven't browsed the all recipes list, then gw will never cache those recipes and so there's no way to know the full list. i might change this at some point tho...
the short version: yeah, i agree.
also, what i've been meaning to do as a better solution to the particular issue you mention is to have lsw know recipe to spell id conversion so that it could add cost/value numbers right in the tooltip of a recipe you might want to buy. i think that's a simpler way to see what recipes might be worth buying.
