GnomeWorks TradeSkill Frame -
a complete replacement for the blizzard trade skill frame.
i'll add an option for turning on/off the trainable recipes. still, you shouldn't seem them duplicated so that needs some fixing.
the back button functionality is actually implemented, it simply lacks the gui button to fire it off. for the life of me, i can't figure out here to put it. perhaps an icon in the detail view portion?
I think that WoW standards should trump other GUI standards. Unless you can make it obvious (cursor change perhaps) then please let the WoW standards prevail.
With r121, I have a "Trainable" category on my LW. I'm just curious as to why Orange items appear in that category. When doing a filter by difficulty, orange, it pulls up the same recipes from both the normal category and the trainable category.
In the Trainable category, you add (trainable at <skill>) which in the default layout, spends most of its time off the end of the column and unreadable. Better would be just (<skill>) but even then some item names are just too long. I'd suggest that you add that extra information perhaps in the lower left scrollable region where the ARL stuff goes.
I've started doing some crafting with my Engineers which are notorious for having recipes that depend on other recipes that depend... While I can queue an item to see what I need, sometimes I want to click on a reagent and look at it. In another tradeskill addon I used in the past, there was a back button that went back up the chain. Would this be difficult to implement?
Personally I think you're making a mistake by not sticking with the standard shift-click method of linking. It's present everywhere in wow and people are used to it.
It's almost like a standard for all of wow and it's addons and if you go against that you will lose potential users.
I offer as a potential solution the following.....
Have shift-left-click link the recipe as per wow standard.
bricklethumb, i think that was a problem with unguilded toons. it should be fixed now.
oddible, i'm going to add right-click linking from the main window, but i've kind of departed from the standard blizzard interface design in favor of the more-standard gui design as it relates to lists and meta keys. shift-click is reserved for multi-selecting in the skill list.
the detail frame shows the item icon and the recipe name, so it seemed like a reasonable place to hook the linking. i disagree that the detail frame should be item-only data. cooldowns, tools, recipe sources (if arl is present), skill level colors... this is all recipe information and i wouldn't want to not present it to the user.
it's a dilemma, for sure tho, because people are used to this shift-click on a recipe name method of working... i'm hoping a right-click menu with linking options will be a reasonable compromise. right click a recipe, and you'll get a series of options related to linking, crafting, queueing, grouping, filtering, etc.
blankstare2, cool. glad you like it. i responded to your ticket regarding skill levels.
very impressive. I did Jeeves and just kept processing the next grouping of items till finished. There is one thing I noticed. JC I'm 487 and Jagged Jasper appears gray, but when I go to the default panel it's green. I'll open a ticket.
Recipe linking is non-intuitive. Currently the only linking that exists is via the window in the lower left corner. Shift-Clicking the icon links the item, shift-clicking the name gives the recipe.
A more intuitive linking would be that all clicks in the lower left corner link the item, since this window ONLY displays the item and not the recipe (actually this is a bit of a problem, it does show what tools it requires - for instance Anvil and Blacksmith Hammer - but not any of the mats - should probably remove the tools list). And clicks on the item in the main list of recipes would link the recipe.
Installad 121 and on new toons or some with not very advanced trade skills I am getting a slew of errors. So much that bugsack stops catching them and shuts down. Cant even open the trade window.
Well, I wish I could give you a more helpful answer, but after disabling gnomeworks so I could finish the quest, and re-enabling it just now a bit later... it's suddenly working. If it happens again I will test your suggestions below and let you know.
Just downloaded 121 after clearning variables, went to do my JC daily, 3 solid zephyrites. I have 18 zephyrites in my bag. Gnomeworks doesn't show anything in craftable column and when I queue 3 of them, is not able to process anything.
bowlam, i fixed that nil error. also removed the scanning spam in the latest rev.
the latest rev fixes some guild inventory stuff and adds the ability to identify which faction-wide guild inventories are globally accessible. this can be toggled per tab. note, that this is only for "alt" inventory tracking and does not affect access for the current toon's guildbank.
for example, if you have an alt in a raiding guild, you can turn off global access to that guild bank so that your main or banker won't think that alt has general access to items in that guild bank.
this is accessible via the plugin drop down for now...
i've also added custom grouping. a group operation menu is now accessible next to the group layout dropdown. from here, you can manage your custom group layouts (new, copy, rename, delete). built-in group layouts are not editable.
the following keyboard commands are active:
ctrl-c will copy the current selection of recipes/groups
ctrl-v will paste that group into the currently selected group
ctrl-delete/backspace will delete the current selection
ctrl-x will cut (copy and then delete)
ctrl-a will select all
ctrl-d will deselect all
ctrl-n will make a new, empty group
ctrl-g will make a new group from the current selection
standard multi-selection techniques apply: ctrl-click to toggle selection, shift-click to select en-masse
groups can be renamed by double-clicking on them
something is bound to explode, so lemme know how it works out. i need to add right-click menu options for all the group operations.
lastly, can somebody verify whether inventory tracking lag is still happening. i'm not experiencing it, but i'm doing major crafting. i suspect there's a missing update path or two, but i haven't run across them...
I go to AH and doa scan through GW and get this error and the scan just suits there. Now the shopping list does show the various Inks required.. Will see how it goes and let you know
EDIT: Now I note that with GW open whenever I move an item from GB to bag or bag to GB or just GB to GB in chat I get "scanning guild inventory {guildname}
ta This error still popped up and it appeared to stop.

bit of am issue with r118 right now. Have queued up 466 glyphs via KTQ but the Queue list is not showing me the required inks I need to make in the shopping list. I am seeing the required parchments. If I change to flat layout I see that i need so many of each ink for that batch of glyphs but I cannot see the total number of inks required in the shopping list. I do not have the inks in my bags.
yeah, i need to mine the skill data from wowhead. the other data comes from an in-game data miner which doesn't work for mining/smelting. this is also why smelting isn't viewable for alts.
Between "Queue All" and "Adjust Layout" is a blank space just begging for a button! :-)
Probably room for more than one button in case you have others in mind!

well, if it came down to it, i suppose i could have shift-click be link when the chat frame bar is open, otherwise it could be a multi-select.

try:
view a different trade then view your jc again
toggle on/off inventory slots (from the plugin menu)
/script reload
/script GnomeWorks:InventoryScan()
if any of these things fixes it, let me know which one worked. if not, let me know that, too.
