This is a must-have feature for priest healers that a lot of addons already have, Grid even has an extension for it, located here: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/gridstatuspriestaoe.aspx
Priests use prayer of healing and circle of healing to heal but which target is best to actually cast it (which designates the center, really) on in the midst of a fight is usually too difficult to tell at any given moment. I believe the way it works is it examines the map, so it wouldn't work anywhere that doesn't have a map - luckily most places do now.
I have decided to make a more general status, usable by priest, shamans and druids. But i need some feedback, gridstatuspriestaoe has some options that maybe are unnecesary. I need to know how people use this kind of information. For example setting a heal Threshold. A lot of times you have to precast the heals before the damage is received, sincronizing you heal with dbm timers or boss harmfull spell casts. In that case you need to know the best heal targets when the raid is not damaged yet, so heal threshold becomes unusable. Do people really use the heal threshold option ?
The heal threshold is useful, it would be kind of annoying to have the indicator always bouncing around when everyone's at full health. Also, Circle of Healing is instant, no precast required.

But the indicator jumping from unit to unit is not a heal threshold problem, i can avoid the indicator jumps in this case. Another reason to use a health theshold ?
Another dude, i think (but im not sure) priestaoe only mark one candidate unit for aoe CoH heals. I think more than one "unit" must be marked if its posible. For example a mele group, and a ranged group, both groups stacked more or less, the status must show the two posibilities for aoe heal i think.
@michaelspain: Go
Well I don't really know then, the heal threshold is honestly just so the indicator won't appear before it's needed.
Well, I thought of one use I guess related to the last reason but not quite the same reason - the heal threshold lets you know when you should use it.
I think a heal thresshold is not needed, but might be desired by some. Anyone with a cast time heal of this nature will proably want to precast on predicatable aoe bursts, so you need to know which target to cast it on before the damage has gone out. This is especially true for disc priests who are prestacking or maintaining divine aegis on a group.
I have been looking for this feature for ages. It's something that advanced players would concider a necessity and I can't wait to get my hands on it if you do go ahead and write it.
This might be a very difficult challenge, but ideally, I would go as far as to use a kind of highlight, where when you mouseover one target, it will 'highlight' all other party members who are in range of your mouseover, whether it be only 1 other person or all 4 others. It would just cause an indicator to trigger. Personally, I would use a subtle color change of player names. So if bob is in range of dave, bob's name will change color when I mouseover dave. Then I know if my aegis stacking is worth it mana efficiency wise cause 3 people are fully benefitting from the heal, or if only 1 is, it's not worth it. It would also help to know that the low health players are going to benefit, and if they aren't, maybe I should shield instead.
Various ways to use it... and a bit ambitious... but maybe too much?
Uploaded Aoe Heals module, included in revision 620. Early alpha status. The module is not enabled by default, go to wow accesories to enable Grid2 Aoe Heals addon. I dont know the performance in raid 25 (in 10 man raid seems ok, not much cpu usage, but with 25 players can be different). If the performance is not good in 25 man, maybe i will have to remove some options to speed up the calculations.
Available aoe statuses:
aoe-Wildgrowth, aoe-circleofHealing, aoe-PrayerofHealing, aoe-ChainHeal, aoe-neighbors
Special status:
aoe-highlighter
The highlighter status highlights the units affected by other aoe-statuses when you mouseover a unit target. For example: pointing your mouse over the best unit to receive a chainheal, this status will highlight all units affected by this chainheal (the units at which the chainheal will jump),
The highlighter status does not work by itself, you must configure the status yout want to highlight, or set "Autodetect" and the highligter will use any enabled aoe-status. The aoe-neighbors status is an exception, you can configure the highlighter to use the aoe-neighbors status without enabling it. An enabled status is a status that was mapped to some indicator.
Minimum Health-deficit option clarification:
This option works in an special way when minimum players < max posible healed players. Examples:
CircleOfHealing affects 6 players max. Setting a minimum players of 6, the minimum health deficit option works as espected: If the option was set to 10K all 6 players must have at least 10k health deficit => 60k minimum healing total (6 players x 10k health deficit)
But if you set a minimum players threshold of 3 with 10k health deficit: 6 clustered players with a health deficit of 5k is a valid solution in the same way that 3 clustered players with 10k health deficit:
(3 players x 10k health deficit each player) = 30k minimum healing estimated
(6 players x 5k health deficit each player ) = 30k minimum healing estimated
Shouldn't a Paladin's Holy Radiance work the same way? (I'm asking on behalf of our paladins in the guilds, dunno if they're any different than the other classes)
