a "hide in combat" option or a small show/hide (expand/collapse) button next to the frames would be very nice.
please tell me if you don't want to implement this, otherwise i could write a small addon / snippet to do in-combat hiding for me.

Could you elaborate ? If you dont want to see grid2 in combat, why use grid2 at all ?
