I have created a custom layout to only show 5 groups with the default options.
If they layout is created, it works flawlessly until you relog, after that it completely forgets its own settings, it scales to 8 groups and ignores "Group" settings and simply places everyone in a line.
Group 1 shows correctly cause its group 1, but then you can have someone at Group 5, and someone at Group 7 and they will show as 1 and 2 in Group 2.
This happens every time after relog, it simply forgets/resets its settings basically and even if i set it again, it doesnt work, its like it doesnt exist as an option but its there.
Is it broken on my side or something else going on?
I basically just want a Group setting that maxes out at 5 groups :D
Custom layouts are working fine here. I have created a custom layout with five headers, one header for each group, and players are displayed in the correct group/row even on reload. Are you sure that the custom layout is activated when you reload the UI ? To check which layout is activated, you can hover the mouse cursor over the grid2 icon, and the current layout name will be displayed in the tooltip.
Mmm i dont know what to tell you, this has been happening ever since i reinstalled Grid2 ~6 months ago, it just reached peaked annoyance last night and decided to finally ask.
I deleted everything Grid2 related last night and remade everything, along with this time setting the custom layout everywhere, every raid size, every dropdown menu that exists, solo, party etc etc instead of only Raid Layout.
It seems to be working correctly for now but again i havent joined any raid instance yet to see if the grouping will bug again, but joining a 30man raid outside quickly to check , it did show only 5 groups finally.
Edit: Spoke too soon, here is exactly what i mean:

It "forgets" group settings and just forces players one after the other as you can see on the bottom right where grid2 is.
And it persists , ignoring every other change setting i might do at that moment, it simply forces them to show one after the other.
It's working as intended. You have a misunderstanding about how layouts work. "Groups" in the setup are raid groups not the visual columns in Grid2, Groups option is a filter, simply means "only display players in specified raid groups".
You have created only one header (one tab), this means one visual column (i simplified a bit, if there are too many players to display and not enough space, several columns can be used for the same group/header/Tab).
To accomplish what you want, click on the "+" tab to create up to 5 headers, one for each raid group. 5 headers means 5 visual columns.
You must see 5 tabs (each tab represents a Grid2 visual column):
players(1) player(2) player(3) player(4) players(5) +
Then on each tab select only 1 column to display, and setup the Groups filter in this way:
players(1) > Groups: only 1 checked
players(2) > Groups: only 2 checked
players(3) > Groups: only 3 checked
players(4) > Groups: only 4 checked
players(5) > Groups: only 5 checked
Well did as you suggested then and created 5 headers etc, but why does it work fine until you relog? :P
Either way, thanks for the help, really appreciated!
