HandyNotes_Vendors
Overview
HandyNotes_Vendors allows you to track Vendor locations in HandyNotes. This is sister project to HandyNotes_Trainers which can help you track Class and Profession Trainers and HandyNotes_CityGuide which can help you track bankers, auctioneers and other important NPCs.
HandyNotes is base addon allowing other addons add icons to your worldmap. HandyNotes_Vendors is addon adding one icon for each Vendor you visit. Each Vendor has one of three different icons so you can easily find proper vendor for you.
- Food icon for normal vendors
- Anvil icon for vendors which can repair items
- Hearthstone icon for innkeepers

Frequently asked questions
- Why it doesn't work?
- Please check if you have HandyNotes installed. Also note HandyNotes_Vendors doesn't come with preconfigured database. You can help me create one by sending me your SavedVariables file to my email: zarevak [a] gmail [point] com
- Will it work with my Map addon (Mapster, Cartographer, ...)
- Yes, it will. HandyNotes are written independently on any Map addon and if your addon doesn't screw up, it will work.
- Will it work with Cartographer?
- Cartographer notes use Cartographer_Notes addon as base for its note system. HandyNotes are using their own system independently on Cartographer. HandyNotes icons will be shown on your Cartographer, but they won't be available to addons working with Cartographer notes.
Planned features
- More detailed vendor types: Food & Drink, Poisons, Ammunition, Reagents
- Filters to display only vendors of certain types
- Favorite and Meaningless vendors, which you'll be able to filter independently on category filters
Rejected features
- Auctioneer and Banker icons. Use HandyNotes_CityGuide for these
currently I'm not playing WoW, but I've released an Alpha version of HandyNotes_CityGuide on wowace site: http://www.wowace.com/projects/handy-notes_city-guide/
HandyNotes_CityGuide displays icons for: Bankers, Guild Banks, Auction Houses, Stables, Battle Masters and Spirit Healers
AFAIK for the download you need be logged in. Try logging in with your Curse login - wowace.com and curse.com is one company
I don't know horde names but alliance venders are:
Hakmud of Armus
Gnimo
I had not believed that tool tips of different Addons should be summarised, but whether it was possible the tool tips of the trainers if they overlap can be summarised and accordingly this also with the Vendors. Thx and Sry for the double post
In the Addon Cartographer_Vendors or also in Gathermate the Tooltips of the Map-Symbols, which are close to each other or which are overlapping, are summarized in one big Tooltip in which all the several Tooltips are included.
So you can read all of them at once.
Would it be possible to realise this feature in your Addon Handynotes_Vendors and Handynotes_Trainers,too? Or is this a problem of Handynotes itself?
Thx and a happy New Year!
Now to your question: The underlying HandyNotes specification doesn't support combining results from multiple addons into one tooltip. This is because each addon is creating its own tooltip and HandyNotes doesn't know anything about it.
Solution ideas:
1) Enhance the HandyNotes specification with this problem in mind. I've asked before and it is not likely to happen.
2) Create patch for HandyNotes, which would do Google Earth like magic when the icons are congested: move them apart with lines pointing back to the original location. I haven't tried it yet and I'm not sure if it will work with HandyNotes_FlightMasters.
3) Create special optional man-in-the-midlle addon with enhanced HandyNotes specification which will solve this issue for addons supporting it. This is probably the way I'm going to use, but currently I have more important tasks to do (international support and filters for HandyNotes_Trainers - only enUS/enGB and deDE work properly)
4) Any other idea?

Received following talking to an innkeeper that didn't sell any items. Unfortunately now i don't recall which innkeeper this was because I forgot to take note of it when it happened.
Thank you for the report. I've added a nil check to guard from the error, but the Innkeeper won't be added to your notes. If you find him again let me know and I will try to investigate further.
The best (and to my knowledge the only) boat addon is Nauticus. It may take a while until the boat icons appear (you need to sail the boat or wait for another player with Nauticus to send you the required data (this happens automatically in the background)). Then it adds realtime boat icon to the WorldMap and Minimap.
Also if you need to replace Cartographer_InstanceMaps + Cartographer_InstanceNotes, you can use "InstanceMaps" It integrates into your WorldMap without using another window like Atlas.
I'm very interested in both your trainer & vendors. I took a look at the 'main' basis, both of his regular and flight path (which was difficult as there are no screenshots, so I have no clue what the main one does or it's config abilities). But asking him to post some, i hope he does v.v and explains the original a bit lol.
But, I need to know what I should turn off in my addons, so that there's no interference. So, I'm going to list my "map" type of addons, and hope that you don't hit me on the head :p
Quest Helper

Cartographer_ZoneInfo
(A couple of them are turned off because they are disfunctional, but I'm not logged into the game to remember which ones are off lol).
Anyways, I'd really love to use this, so if you're not hating me by now, could you help me out? ^_^
don't worry, I'm not going to hate you ;-)
Main HandyNotes addon doesn't track anything automatically. It just allows other addons to add notes to WorldMap and Minimap easily and it also contains module for you to make your own notes. This is similar to Cartographer_Notes, which is base addon for all Cartographer's Notes addons.
HandyNotes_FlightMasters is very nice addon adding all flighmasters and all connections between them to your world map. Only feature I miss is "Flight Timer", but this is supplied by QuestHelper.
When you use GatherMate, you don't need: Cartographer_Fishing, Cartographer_Herbalism, Cartographer_Professions - all is already tracked by GatherMate. Also you don't need Cartographer_Cleanup and Cartographer_Import which are helper addons working with these addons.
Instead of Cartographer_GuildPositions you can use HandyNotes_Guild - both are tracking your guild mates on the WorldMap. I'm not sure if they are compatible though. HandyNotes_Guild is based on LibGuildPositions-1.0 standard library which is used by many other addons.
Cartographer_QuestInfo, Cartographer_QuestObjectives and Cartographer_Quests were not yet fully recreated for HandyNotes. There is new addon HandyNotes_QuestGivers, but doesn't have all the features of these three. Cartographer_QuestObjectives is inferior to the features of your QuestHelper.
Cartographer_POI - I don't remember exactly what this addon does. There is HandyNotes_Directions addon tracking all your questions to town guards and remembering their answers.
Last addon depending on Cartographer_Notes is Cartographer_InstanceNotes, which may be useful.
Other addons are for general Cartographer features and Battleground and Instance support. If you are looking for complete replacement for Cartographer, take a look at Mapster - it has most of the basic features included and is much easier on your system. On the other hand Mapster has no support for instances. Atlas (instance maps) with Atlasloot Enhanced (boss loot tables and more) is good alternative.
Ok, I now officially hate Curse's small comment box ;-)
On the other hand HandyNotes and Cartographer_Notes are two different note addons each with their own "databases", options, ...
HandyNotes_Vendors is meant to be replacement for Cartographer_Vendors for HandyNotes ;-)
Can you please send me your SavedVariables for HandyNotes_Vendors (and for HandyNotes_Trainer)? As I don't have WoTLK yet I'm interested in your Dalaran notes and other WoTLK places.
You can send your SavedVariables to my email: zarevak at gmail dot com
Thank you
Sorry about taking so long to reply. I've been quite busy, and totally forgot about my comment here. I completely understand why you haven't included AH icons. Looking back, I see that is really pointless. Now that poisons are no longer a "profession", it would be helpful to have an icon specifically for poison vendors (the vendors aren't always near a trainer). It would also be helpful to have a new icon for vendors that deal in trade items (dyes, threads, spices, etc).
There was also a request for using special icons for different vendors based on their merchandise. Personally I've been using HandyNotes_Vendors with my second addon HandyNotes_Trainers so I knew for instance that the vendor near Rogue trainer sells poison reagents. I'm open for suggestions though: Do you have any request for other vendor types?
Is there a filter option eg show inn and repair but dont show food and drink vendors?
Hi fixitman, do you have any special requests for additional icons?
When I was playing WoW I mainly needed to know, where is nearest vendor to sell loot to or where is nearest "armorer" to repair my weapons and armor.
When I needed reagents for poisons, I knew I was able to buy them near the Rogue trainer and used HandyNotes_Trainers icons. Similarly I've used HandyNotes_Trainers icons for other vendors as well.
As for the auctioneers icons: I planned to add them, but then I realized, this addon is just about vendors. If I would to create Auctioneer icons, I would create special addon, but creating one addon for just 7 (4 faction + 3 neutral) icons is overkill. Also you can use HandyNotes_Directions to display Auction Houses. Just visit a city guard and ask him for Auction House and the icon will be placed on your map.
