HandyNotes: Battle for Azeroth Treasures and Rares
Want Shadowlands treasures and rares? I have something for that.
A HandyNotes plugin to show the Battle for Azeroth treasure items on your map. (That means it requires HandyNotes, so go install it as well.)
This includes:
- Items found in one-off chests that're mysteriously glowing purple.
- Items dropped by rare mobs.
Items that you've already collected and mobs you've already killed won't be displayed. This uses the "flag" quests that the game relies on to keep track of the items. Sometimes these glitch; generally if they do so, you also won't have gotten achievement-credit / the item, so you'll likely still be interested in the item.
You can right-click on any treasure node and hide it, if you just don't want to see that one. If you have TomTom installed, you can also add a waypoint for that node.
To edit the settings, visit the HandyNotes config panel, expand the "Plugins" section, and click on "Battle for Azeroth". You can then choose which treasures to show, and whether to show ones you've already found.
Want to help?
If you'd like to submit corrections, please go into the settings as mentioned above and turn on "show quest ids". Then let me know the quest id for the node you want to correct, which will now appear in its tooltip.
If you'd like to submit a new node, you have two options:
- Tell me where it is. I'll go find it eventually and track down the more obscure details I need to add it.
- Gather these details yourself and send them to me:
- Zone and coordinates.
- What it gives you. This is mostly "a random gray, and some Azerite".
- The quest id associated with it. This is the tricky one. The easiest way to get it is to install QuestsChanged before you open the treasure, then open the treasure and check it to see what quest was triggered.
What else might help me find things?
- Handy Minimap Arrow will make your player-arrow on the minimap appear above all the notes I'm adding to it
- What's On The Map? will show a list of the vignettes currently up nearby
- Minimap Range Extender will make map vignettes visible from further away

"Stagger the Tiragarde Sound treasure-map treasures, so you only see them once you've found the right map"I have finished all with alliance faction, then started a horde one. it behaves the opposite now. I can see all these treasures without maps, and when i find the "right map" , the icon disappears.https://www.wowhead.com/object=279750/hay-covered-chest#comments needs to be put in here as well, 67.37 51.68
Came across this one today: https://www.wowhead.com/object=302954/blacktooth-brawler-stash
some zuldazar "daily" treasure chests, usually small amounts of war resources + greys
object id - quest id - coords

278456 50710 49.45 20.70

You may want to add a note to the "Whiplash" rare mob in Stormsong that he is only available during the World Quest to kill him. NPC id 129803
There's a Pepe with a diving helmet inside an aquarium over 53, 71 of Boralus city. It's the house with the cats.
I found rare in the wrong place:
(Zuldazar) Vukoba - 63.9 32.7 - should be - 62.0 46.2.
(And some more, but I forgot about them. I will edit this post If I'll find more.)
Hey, Love the Add-On.
So Far, I've Noted Two Chests for the Treasures Achievement that are missing from this. They do not glow purple nor do they appear on the minimap, which may be why you did not have them. (They count as treasures for the achievement though) (There may be more I noted but forgot to actually write down. :/ But alas, I forgot)
https://www.wowhead.com/object=294319/sandsunken-treasure - Sandsunken Treasure. Obtained by clicking on the Abandoned Bobber at 26.5, 45.3 in Vol'Dun (floats on the water). Contains 5 Polished Pet Charms, Grey Items, and War Resources.
https://www.wowhead.com/object=298920/stolen-thornspeaker-cache - Stolen Thornspeaker Cache. In a cave at 24.34, 48.29 in Drustvar. Entrance to cave is at 24.70, 48.99. Contains 5 Polished Pet Charms, Grey Items, and War Resources.
The Weathered Treasure Chest in Stormsong Valley: https://www.wowhead.com/object=289647/weathered-treasure-chest#comments has actually been moved since beta, which is where you currently have it listed as being located. It is now located at 67.6, 11.7. There are 3 cave entrances at 66.5, 11.8; 68.4, 11.0; and 66.9, 14.6.
Also, the rare spawn Zunashi the Exile in Vol'dun currently uses the wrong icon. You have him using the "Entrance to Treasure Cave" icon instead of a rare spawn icon.
And you should make note that the rare spawn Whiplash in Stormsong only spawns when the World Quest to kill it is currently active. (Yet for some reason is still needed for the achievement)
The rare Vol'jim in Tiragarde Sound has apparently been removed from the game:
https://www.wowhead.com/npc=132052/voljim
Yet it still shows on the map
Also some rares in Vol'dun continue to show on the map even after i killed them
I completed Vol'dun rares yesterday, but its still showing rares on my map in Voldun. I dont have 'Show Found' checked in settings, so i dont know why its showing. Any idea?
In reply to Sharpbladez:
Hey, for some reason, Voldun and Nazmir rares are not showing if they have an item to drop, but all other zones, for both horde and ally shows it as normal, if the rare has a item drop.
Is this something going to be added or is mine bugged?
Thanks in advance, and great work mate!

This one is missing:
Vol'dun 26.5 45.3 Sandsunken Treasure - use the Bobber
I'm unable to update the addon, the client tells me it's unable to get it. It also can't display the changelog.
