HealPoints
HealPoints is a healer gear benchmark addon similar to TankPoints for tanks. It is designed to make it easier for healers to choose the most optimal gear, balancing
- Intelligence
- Mana Regen
- Spirit
- Spell Power
- Crit Rating
- Spell Haste
It displays all your relevant basic stats as well as HP/sec
, HP/mana
, etc. for all your healing spells. It also displays a few more advanced benchmarks:
- PowerPoints: focused on healing output over a short period
- EndurancePoints: focused on healing output over a long period
HealPoints detects and supports all relevant talents and almost all set and equip bonuses.
You can view your current HealPoints by typing:
/hp calc
Your HealPoints, PowerPoints and Endurance points will also be displayed on your paperdoll.
If you have a LibDataBroker feed view (e.g. TitanPanel) then you will see:
- a feed containing your current HealPoints
- a tooltip showing the value of relative stats
HealPoints contains a calculator that lets you manipulate the basic stats and see how they affect your spells and overall healing efficiency.
Hello, let me start by saying how much I love this addon! Thank you for making it. I think I may have found a bug but I'm not really sure. Sometimes two peices of armor will both say they're better than the other. Is this normal? Thanks in advance to anyone who has any information on this matter. =)
I was wondering if this was going to be updated soon? I just fould this mod a couple of weeks ago when I started playing my priest again and it was helpful getting him geared for healing.
Thanks and God Bless,
Quixfire
I'm working on the next version. I'm waiting on the PTR to be available again so I can do more testing there.
Could you add the ability to hide the minimap button? I have looked at the code but can't find where it it created. If you give me a pointer to where it is I can handle doing my own custom change.
nice thanks
doesn't work with link wrangler (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/5379/)
That's because LinkWrangler uses non-standard tooltips.
But take a look at http://downloads.curse.com/details/8014/ (Not made by me and not tested by me)
Any chance of changing the healpoints change on tooltips for items not equipped so that it reduces the stats on the slot you have equipped before calculating the healpoints? I.e a bracer I have shows improvement over the bracer I have equipped, but when equipping it, the other bracer gives an even better improvement.
It should work just as you want it to, but there's a few reasons why it's not 100% perfect.
1. It doesn't track changes in set bonuses or meta gems.
2. Rounding errors. Example: You have a talent that increase intellect by 10%. You currently have 400,4 points of intellect, rounded to 400. The item you look at will increase your intellect by 4, increased to 4,4 by the talent. HealPoints calculates the new intellect to 404,4 and rounds to 404. If you put it on, you get 404,8 => 405. So it's not that HealPoints doesn't support these types of talents/abilities, but that it doesn't know about any rounding that has already been done on the intellect you had before. (Hope that made sense...) Any discrepancies because of rounding, should be pretty low as it's just +/-1 in a single stat.
3. Bugs. I'm not aware of any outstanding bugs at the moment, so feel free to report any you find. If you turn on debug mode (check the FuBar/Minimap menu), helpful info will be printed to the console.
I noticed i didnt had the latest version. I downloaded it and it seems to be over. Now i however have that when i login a char that isnt a healer i get a healpoints error on login.
calculator.lua:386, bad argument #1 to 'getn' (table expected, got nil)
That's only on the first login. For later logins of the same character, HealPoints will be automatically disabled and the error message disappears. Still, I'll fix it in the next version.
Before wearing my shoulders i have 234k heal points, but after wearing the resto shaman Cataclysm ShoulderGuards with exalted Scryer enchant + 2 royal nightseye my healpoints go to 560k. I am guessing he gives a bit too much points to this item. My other gear seems to get normal values.
When i wear nothing on my shoulders it gives it a rating of 21933 when i hover over it in my inv.
Sounds like a bug with the set bonus calculation. I'll look into it.
How is it that Keeper's Ring of Piety (http://thottbot.com/i29322) has more heal points than Violet Signet of the Grand Restorer (http://thottbot.com/i29290)?
Check my response to Nullify below for a bit about how HealPoints works.
It's hard for me to say as it depends on which other gear you have equipped and which class you play. Keep in mind that HealPoints considers healing stats only, so the 24 stamina from the Grand Restorer ring isn't considered. So it's really +1 spirit and +7 mp5 vs. 23 intellect and 13 +healing.
Is there anyway that the user could tell HP what stats you value most? Like I play a pally and I value spell crit over MP5. So any way to make the ranking done by the user or something like that? Thanks for a great addon btw.
Also for the FuBar special bonuses thing, the arena gloves give a 2% crit effect to FoL for pallies. Think that should be listed as well. HP calculates it correctly though so no problems there, just not listed in the bonus output.
HealPoints does not use a system where each stat is given a specific weight. So it's not possible to (directly) adjust HealPoints to which stats you like most. This is because I don't think static stat weights is a good idea. To make an extreme example: Assume one healer with +0 healing and 200 mp5 and another with +1500 healing and 0 mp5. The first could really use more +healing, while mp5 would be more useful for the second. In essence, I think how good an item is, depends on the other items you have equipped.
Instead HealPoints contains a "healing simulator" that estimates how much you can heal in 6 minutes (default settings) using your current stats. And HealPoints considers gear that lets you heal more, to be an upgrade. You can adjust the "healing simulator" using the config window. There you can select which spells to use and duration to compute healing for.
If you primarily heal in PvP, you can for example set EndurancePoint duration to 0, and increase PowerPoint duration a bit (typical Arena match length, for example). This will probably make HealPoints value spell crit higher and mp5 lower (power more important, endurance less important).
As for the 2% crit bonus from the Arena gloves... This bonus listed directly in the calculator window (compare HL crit and FoL crit and you'll see). That's why it's not listed in "List special bonuses". It's only meant for bonuses that would otherwise be hard to check if are detected.
Nice update.
Cann't wait to test the new features....
Any official word on what the different HealPoint Numbers are on my tooltips are? It was simple with one number. But now with two it's a bit confusing since I don't know which number means what.
