German WoW ClientVersion 2.4.30
General issues with localizations for German. Needs to be more complete and correct. Also need to consider updating exports to be more flexible for output language and whether is using "non-localized canonical" English and for which parts.
2.4.30 versions of localization files added to ticket for reference if necessary. Korean one is an example very complete translation. If without a compare tool, I recommend BeyondCompare. Is one of the best with ability to edit in place.
1) Add option to use localized forms where possible on data and text exports.
2) Button text has wrong German translation (fixed in 2.4.31) - "Back": is "Rücken", should be "Zurück". reason: using automatic localized Lua global "BACK" but was conflicting with LibBabbleInventory "Back" "Rücken" means "back side" rather than a "position back". this affected all locales
3) "Cancel" on right-click minimap menu appears not translated (fixed in 2.4.32) reason: code issue in LibKarma having no translator reference
4) Need functional translation for "([^%s]+) leaves the party". (fixed in 2.4.32) - currently missing app functionality for German
5) Most dialog boxes titles not translated, like for right-click menus. (fixed in 2.4.33)
6) Multi-word text with "Show" as verb not translated. (fixed in 2.4.33)
7) Multi-word text on verb "View" for buttons has wrong case (fixed in 2.4.33)
8) Multi-word text "Delete" for buttons not translated. (fixed in 2.4.33)
9) Missing zone localizations for newer zones. Will require major change. (fixed in 2.4.35)
10) Participants should be translated to Teilnehmer for german. (fixed in 2.4.36)
<p>as a fairly complete example (2.4.30)</p>
<p>base non-localized version (2.4.30)</p>
<p>German localized version (2.4.30)</p>
Thank you. The ticket will be *much* easier than trying to use the comments. :)
4) L.LeftParty = "([^%s]+) verl\195\164sst die Gruppe"
I am unsure which translation of snapshot to choose or if it is better that it is not beeing translated.
Is L["additem"] in use?
@haruhichan: Go
yes. there's a use of additem. it was to localize the actual command line option names, but its the only one.
I think I have L.LeftParty covered automatically now, though its not released yet.
I'm going to check-in what I have so you can see.
Edit: Ok its http://www.wowace.com/addons/ka_raid-tracker/files/7516-r382/ so basically this comment referrs to build r382. will load as 2.4.32 but its not the final 2.4.32 :)
All of the core functional strings are now automatic. you might try if get a chance. I have no way to run instances yet and what have is only a trial account for Eu, so I cant even try to form a party. :(
Edit2: http://www.wowace.com/addons/ka_raid-tracker/files/7518-r383/ This for English and German should work for loot and leave events.
@Celess:
I think it is better for command line options to keep them in one language only. Localizing them may be confusing.
I think so too for the CL options. Wow has them, but I would want to have both canonical English and localized accepted for a command if did add them. People use them in scripts. :)
r384 is out. Now all locales use the automatic functional strings. These strings are the ones that detect loot and player leave events. This needs to be tested better, though I'm pretty sure it will work.
If you get a chance, I would appreciate any testing with that version you could do :)
So which exports would you like to see specially localized? Or was there some that were broken?
r385 has not worked well yesterday - but i will test latest release version
@haruhichan: Go was it broken?
yes r385 was not localized that day.
Now i am testing with 2.4.33
So, better or worse?
Also if you could make one thing better, apart from what was already said, what would you want?
