MagicMarker
Addon Description
Magic Marker lets you easily classify and mark mobs simply by moving the mouse over them while pressing a modifier key. This allows incredibly fast marking of trash groups. Although not necessary for the addon to function, you can configure the priority and crowd control methods you wish to use on a per mob basis. You can also customize the marks to use for tank targets and each crowd control method. This allows for consistent marking of targets to tank and crowd control in raid and party situations
Features
- Mob-level configuration to specify the priority, desired category (i.e Tank or Crowd Control) and applicable crowd control methods.
- Automatically learns new crowd control methods as they are discovered.
- Prioritize raid icon configuration for tank targets and all crowd control methods.
- Prioritize crowd control methods.
- Separate priorities for crowd controlling and tanking (optional).
- Marks targets in priority order simply my mousing over them.
- Automatically learn about new mobs as you encounter them.
- Ability to unmark and mark targets manually at the press of a button.
- Ability to ignore mobs you don't want to mark.
- Never use more raid icons for a specific CC method than there are members of the class in the raid/party (i.e if there are two mages in the raid, there will never be more than 2 targets marked for sheeping).
- Option to honor externally marked targets (i.e if someone manually marked a target MagicMarker won't clobber it).
- Option to preserve marks on the raid members.
- Ability to save a template of the marks on the raid and recall them (not persistant).
- Ability to mark members of the raid based on some preset rules.
- Full fledged dynamically generated UI to configure all the details (while using minimal amount of memory).
- Network syncing for marking, unmarking and sharing of the mob database and mark/cc settings.
- Clears used marks when mob dies.
- Send a list of marks, mob name and kill/cc method to the raid / party chat channel.
- Keybindings to manipulate mob configuration (priorities, category) without opening the mob database, makes initial configuration and adjustments easier.
- Ability to select minimum number of mobs to always mark as tank targets.
- Ability to import data from MagicMarker_Data (included in the package).

I have one problem with the addon. It keeps marking CCed targets that I checked for Bind Elemental, and marking them for Bind Elemental even when we don't have a Shaman in the group. Do you know how to fix this?
It also acts a bit weird when there's 2+ people in the raid running the addon, with all of the sharing accepts turned off. The addon doesn't immediately accept changes made in the addon settings.
"I haven't been configuring much CC and such for Magic Marker. also I just discovered a very serious bug that's basically making all data since 4.0 bogus (wrong unit id). The next release will try to fix this but until then releasing any data wouldn't be very helpful."
Maybe this is why the cc marking isn't working for you. Unfortunately, its been several months since with no updates.

I'd like to make a feature request. When using the assignments feature, it tells you what CC to use for what mark. Could you make it so that it assigns actual people to those CC (or have the option to anyhow)? Or, even better (though more work), allow you to assign players to have preferred marks (and save those marks just like you do different CCs having marks).
Also, Bind Elemental (shaman ability) is missing.
This'd require a lot of rewrite (or maybe not as much, I'd have to know how you coded it) but would be much better for marking CC in raids.
Instead of assigning marks to CC Types, you assign marks to players (or more generically for 5 mans, classes).
Simple example:
You got a pull with:
3 Humanoid
Elemental
Beast
You have:
2 Warriors (No CC)
Mage (Sheep)
Shaman (Hex, Bind Elemental)
Warlock (Fear, Banish)
We're going to (try to) limit each CCer to one CC because that's what's best (though could be an option to allow one person to do multiple CCs and thus take 2 symbols; a primary and a secondary), I'm not sure what MM does currently.
Currently, what you have to do to get reliable symbols is assign Sheep to Symbol A, Hex AND Bind Elemental (once it gets added) to Symbol B and Fear and Banish Elemental to Symbol C.
What I would propose is instead is you assign Mage1 to Symbol A, Shaman1 to Symbol B, and Warlock1 to Symbol C (in the generic, also allow it to remember specific players).
Considering the huge myriad of overlapping CCs now-a-days, its basically impossible to create an all encompassing symbol setup for the variety of huge raid pulls (25 man style, f' 10 mans!) Bliz is throwing at is (assuming Bastion is any indication).
For example: First pull in Bastion is an 8 pull. 2 Marks (Skull and X) are for tanking leaving only 6 symbols for CC. All humanoid (simpler than some of the pulls later on to sort out...).
The raid makeup (CC wise) depending on who we have in can range anywhere from:
2-3 Mages
1-2 Warlocks
1-2 Shaman
1-2 Shadow Priests
Right now I got the 6 symbols spread out as follows (in the following priority):
Sheep: Circle, Triangle, Moon
Fear: Diamond, Square
Hex: Star, Circle
MC: Moon and an unmarked one if needed
Instead, what I'd like to be able to do is:
Mages 1, 2, 3: Circle, Triangle, Moon
Warlocks 1, 2: Diamond, Square
Shaman 1, 2: Star, Circle
Priest 1: Moon
With the option of assigning specific players to specific symbols. The class based system would not "technically" alleviate the problem because the same thing can be accomplished currently, however it requires significantly more work (matching up all the symbols of CC that the same class can do, ie shackle/mc, roots/hibernate, hex/bindele, etc). It would however work towards being able to assign specific players (as you probably would treat it by class and not CC before you can assign players).
Anyhow, hopefully you got the point through my late night ramblings.
However in picking it up again for cata on attempting to configure it, the options window keeps graying out and being not interactable.
This kinda makes it hard to config when it stops responding to any mouse click.
i have to configure for each mobs in every instance whos for tanking and whos for Crowd control, it really doesnt matter which mob i want to be cc'd all the time so its kinda annyoing to choose it in the setup who i want to be cc'd, i also want the announcment to say e.i (sheep moon or sap star), but every time i announce the marking it only says tank on every one of the marks.
I thought that this addon would handle both of these thinks.
Hope you understand what i mean with this.
Thank you
Is there an expected release of Magicmarker data? I think the faster mob marker gets standardized the faster heroics will get a bit easier, or at least faster.
thanks a lot, great addon

1) Default cc methods for particular types of mobs. I switch something over to be CC'd and I have to try to remember what methods can be used against, say, an elemental.
2) An explanation that the CC methods for each database entry can be enabled by the "category" switch over them. It took me awhile to figure this out!
3) Silent mode. I need to be able to check to see if I have my settings correct before I'm in a party where it matters! Allow the chat to spit out CC priorities (Mob - [what icon the mob would have if it were for real]).
4) Chat output the moment any CC changes. If it's a new instance and suddenly the rogue is able to start sapping things after we've been doing waves of undead, the rogue should be notified of his icon in the correct channel.
5) The resetting between fights seems pretty buggy. Sometimes it resets properly, other times I have to do it manually. Maybe look your code over and see if there are better ways to detect proper resets?
I hope you only take these issues as constructive criticism- I love your addons and can't wait to see their futures! Thanks for your attention!
