Addon Description Magic Runes is a set of bars displaying rune cooldowns. It's meant as either a replacement or addition to the normal Blizzard rune display.
Heya! This is a great add-on, but it's a bit buggy at times. For instance, with the talent "Reaping" in Unholy, the timer will reset -both- Blood Runes as Death Runes(even an unused one will start counting down from 10 to 0 as Death), whilst only one is truly converted. At first I thought it was a bug in the game itself, but when checked with the regular WoW Rune tracker on, it worked as intended.
I'll test this out. Runes have always acted iffy - all MagicRunes does is to listen to the events provided by the game so I don't understand how this particular feature could be broken.
I'm about to start a deathknight and this looks like a great addon to use. But im using a macintosh (software 10.4.11) and wondering if it would work for me. If so, how do i start it up for this is my first addon.
If, like me, you get the following error on start-up :
"LibDBIcon-1.0 requires LibDataBroker-1.1."
then edit the file [wow install dir]\Interface\AddOns\MagicRunes\embeds.xml and swap lines 18 and 19 : the line that reads 'Script file="Libs\LibDataBroker-1.1\LibDataBroker-1.1.lua"' must come *before* the one that reads 'Script file="Libs\LibDBIcon-1.0\LibDBIcon-1.0.lua"'.
You should have a minimap button that looks like a death rune (and/or an LDB display). You can mouse over that to get a tooltip where you can lock (right mouse) or open config (left mouse). If you don't see the button, go into the Interface Settings => Addons => Magic Runes and you should have an option to unlock there as well.
Although I'm not against different displays, it's very hard to see exactly what that display actually is like. It's not high on my priority list to add "weird and unusual" displays such as that. What is higher on my list is to add a better icon-only display.

As a note I know I've been lacking in updates for the addon - primarily due to playing rather than coding. :) However I do plan to return shortly to implementing improvements I planned originally. Primarily this includes cleaning up the code and potentially splitting the addon into multiple addons, separating core handling and various display options. Naturally it would be backwards compatible (or at least automatically updated).
One thing I'd love though, would be if I could make it hide when I'm not in combat and the runes aren't on CD. Then I could place it next to the addons that track disises and it, anywhere I want, and it wouldn't be in the way when I'm in a city for example. I have it set so only the icons show when CD is up, but it still looks kinda wierd.
This should be fixed (or worked around) in the latest version.

However, it seems that the frame level for the first blood rune is different with the others. Here is the pic:
