Mendeleev

Table of Contents

Mendeleev is best known for his work on the periodic table; arranging the 63 known elements into a Periodic Table based on atomic mass, which he published in Principles of Chemistry in 1869. Dmitri Mendeleev was born at Tobolsk, Siberia in 1834 and died in 1907.

Mendeleev, the addon, adds all kinds of information on top of the information provided by Blizzard to almost all item tooltips. It is currently not in a state where I'd consider it ready for general use; but if you want to try it out then go ahead! :)

It also depends on the ancient LibPeriodicTable, which frankly is no longer maintained or properly updated. Perhaps things will move forward and get fixed for Cataclysm, but perhaps not.

the / command should be
/mendeleev
not sure with update but that used to work for me

The /mendeleev command does not seem to work. However, the configuration is located in the "Game Menu | Interface", on the "Addons" tab.

yeah, "/mendeleev" was dropped lately with the options being accessable via "Game Menu | Interface".

Mendeleev is in my "must have" short list addons, really helpfull.

btw would it be possible to add startip support ? it is a quite nice light ace3 tooltip addon.

WoWAce now are more for developer and curse for end user (WowAce so popular they can't manage cost of download bandwidth)

That link isn't very helpfull sorry because there's no info on there which /command this addon uses. I'm stuck with it too so any help in this is appreciated.

while the /command may not work you can change the settings by using wow's in game addon manger.

I really like this mod, but have 3 comments:

1.
The lists in the tooltip are so long, I can't see the normal tooltip contents anymore. Please add the Mendeleev stuff at the very bottom of the tooltip.

2.
95% of the items are id numbers instead of names. Is this a bug?

3.
This is related to both comments 1 and 2: Please allow for an option to choose which items to show. I'm only interested in my own professions 99% of the time. Only every so often I want to see the items for other professions. By allowing to choose (through a setting) which profession items to show, it would solve both points 1 and 2.

wrt 1: you can't control where your data shows up wrt other addons since that depends on who hooked first meaning load order.
wrt 2: if an item isn't cached by the client, yet, Mendeleev can't get it's name from the ID so it shows the ID instead.
wrt 3: you can limit the tree to show only items you can craft yourself.
