PitBull Unit Frames 3.0
Please note that PitBull3 is no longer being actively developed. On top of lack of active development itself, it's based on the Rock framework which itself is no longer maintained either.
I strongly recommend that users migrate to PitBull4. You can not convert your config from PitBull3 and must reconfigure.
PitBull4 itself can be found at:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/pitbull4.aspx
You can find guides for setting it up at:
http://www.wowace.com/addons/pitbull4/pages/guide/
And the FAQ here:
http://www.wowace.com/addons/pitbull4/pages/faq/
While PitBull4 is still in beta it is fully functional and has more features than PitBull3. It is actively developed on and bug fixes made regularly.
I do not plan on making any fixes to PitBull3 once Cataclysm releases. So you have plenty of time to make the migration.

PitBull is a Unit Frames addon that provides maximal customization and undergoes rigorous efficiency testing. It is created in a modular framework, which allows for mulitple authors to put their skills to work creating this great project.
It has support for many different kinds of units: player, target, pet, pet's target, target of target, target of target of target, focus, focus' target, party, party pets, party targets, party pet targets, raid, raid pets, raid targets, main tanks, main tank targets, main assists, main assist targets, etc.
Note: Almost all texts are configurable using the LibDogTag-3.0 format. See http://old.wowace.com/wiki/LibDogTag-3.0 for details or type '/dog' in-game.

Sigh, this is incredibly frustrating. So, having issues with the Raid portion of WoW. Figured I needed to update Pitbull since it handled that part of the unit frames for me... huge massive mistake. Sure it fixed my lockup issue but using Rock to configure something as detailed as Pitbull is horrible (well, Rock is horrible anyway) and simply put I cannot get the frames to stop fading.
Maybe I'm the only one but I really dislike the frames fading. It's simply annoying, I want them up all the time. Having them go transparent makes no sense in my opinion. I can still see them when they're faded and it's more annoying than them just blocking that small section of the screen.
To put this simply, I'm horribly disappointed with the entire Ace2 situation. Rock is just flat out bad and Pitbull seems to have some issues anyway (or maybe it's still Rock and I can't find at all options and layouts I used to have). Sadly I'm going to have to use the default WoW frames for a bit or X-Perl... two options that are not at all good.
Agreed. Can not find the the transparency/fade settings anywhere.
For that matter, I can hardly find any settings at all. How do you change the size of bars? The shape? The positioning of health/mana within each frame? I've seen very nice setups of PitBull with it configured all special, but I cannot figure out how to do this myself. Or was it even PitBull?
Can't tell, because I can't find any of the settings to figure it out.
Cool addon. One minor annoyance however. As a BM hunter spirit bond constantly procs, causing my pets bar to blink all the time. Is there a way that this one effect can be ignored? Thanks :-).
How do you get the party bar to become verticle instead of horizontal and stop the player frame from fadeing?
To make the party bar vertical go to the Party Section under the Config and then select Other, then click on Grouping and select Down in the box next to direction. To remove the fading of your character under Player click Other, then go to Combat Fader and uncheck the box next to enable
Well, I have just tried removing my Cache, Inerface and WTF folders completely, then installing the lastest version of Pibull. As clean as you can get I think. I still got an error straight away, something about cannot find the cvar for errorspeech. Reading a post on another site it seems that an updated ACE Lib could be the answer. I will try that. I also had a problem though with switching characters. If I ignore the error I can use Pitbull... even though it lost my previous setup! I did this with one char, then switched to an alt but could not copy that profile. I hope I can muddle through and find an answer, or the mod writer can issue an update (don't actually like Rock either!). This is by far the best UF mod around and it's a shame to not be using it.
It's important to realize that in the world of Ace you may have multiple versions of the same lib under different addons. Since only one instance of the lib is loaded then it may not be the version that other mods accept / are compatible with / expect. The potential result being a combination of happy and unhappy mods relying upon that library.
Here is what worked for me to resolve this...
BACKUP YOUR ADDONS AND WTF FOLDERS FIRST...
Get WowAceUpdater.
In the WowAceUpdater, under Preferences...
Locate "Automatic Dependancy Download" - check the box.
Locate "Default mode with externals - UNcheck the box.
File Menu... perform a "Reinstall all addons".
The end-result of always updating via this method is that I have a single library and it keeps the vast majority of mods very very happy.
I have been playing for 4 days (since patch 2.2) with almost 100 mods, at least 50 of which are Ace/Ace2. Almost all can be configured with Rock. I have ZERO errors across solo, 5 man group, 10 man raid, 25 man raid, AV, AB, WSG. All across a 70 priest, a 70 rogue and a 70 drood. I've checked around 15 other toons too and none have errors and I have checked every class in the game. The only error I get is on my warrior but it's a single on-load bug and related to mailbox stuff.
Good luck with the above. Hope it helps...
wow wtf is going on here. The configuration for this addon now is totally effed. The old way was much better. Sorry for the angry tone, but i'm seriously frustrated. Rock? Oh man. Why would one change the old configuration if it was working just fine? This one is filled w/ errors and bugs and such. I cant even get the raid grouping to show up w/o them disappearing when i mount up and stuff. :(
I must admit that the mod was almost unusable and throwing hundreds of errors when I first updated.
I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner but deleting the Pitbull files in all of my WTF folders and completely rebuilding my layout via Rock gives me zero errors now. Ironically fighting my way through the very unfamiliar Rock screens meant I was forced to learn how to use Rock. My preference would be the pre-Rock way of configuring Pitbull but times change... embrace progress and change... :)
I do miss the minimap icon though and the ability to have a 40 man raid split into 2 columns of 20. I guess they got lost in the revamp.
I'm sure we all need to bear in mind that unless we pay for a free mod the best feedback is polite and constructive. If we part with cash then a rant or two may be in order.
I'm trying to find a way to create 2 or 3 columns of raid members. At the moment I can only get a 25 man raid on my screen by dramatically reducing it's scale.
Any suggestions ? If not then please could a max column value be made available ?
Thanks in advance...
p.s. I'm getting my versions direct from SVN via WowAceUpdater.
I started to get massive screen tearing an hour ago , and im allmost sure that pitbull is cause it because its displaying massive buff and debuff symbols all across its frames, sometimes allmost completely covering my screen.
Has anyone else experienced this? ur frames turning into just 2 colors with text etc?
I agree with the others, please revert this addon to use its original configuration methods, they worked fine and if it aint broke then dont fix it. This Rock malarky is so full of bugs its a disgrace and as such i have had to revert to my previous version of pitbull and will not be upgrading till it either breaks or you release a fixed version. IE without Rock nonsense. Thanks for your time
it seems this dude doesn't want to fix the shit he made :(
After a short while of using and enjoying your mod, I had to upgrade today to accomodate for the patch, and discovered this "rock configuration" had been added.
I'll state outright this was a very bad idea to implement, it's screwing about with my other mods, hurling lua errors at me, and generally making pitbull unusable for me.
I will no longer be using pitbull until Rock Configuration is removed. So until that day, I take my downloads elsewhere, and I have to sadly change my ranking of this mod from 5 to 2.
This will be undone if I hear this Rock Configuration is removed. Sorry ckknight. : /
FFS what a annoying addon Rock Configuration hate it fuuuck up most of my addons
the rock is not bad at all ... but what's the point in using rock when most of the options are disabled and u cant enable them ?
do smthing bout it dude ^^ give us our lovely pitbull ^^
After 2.2 the only addon which isn't working is Pitbull, which is a shame because it's the only unit frame addon I like. I get errors when logging in which vary from character to character. Friends using this mod have no problems so I guess it's something else I'm using but prior to the patch all was fine. Not sure if it's to do with the Rock thing - which seems unnessecary anyway! I just tried x-perl but I don't really like it. Hope there is a new version out... without Rock!!
The only addon that is having issues that YOU use is pitbull. Fubar among others are now using the deservedly (imho) much maligned rock, and those folks are in general not thrilled either. Your mileage may vary
Ok here goes !!
Pitbull used to be a very very nice addon until you messed it up IMO Rock Configration is a very bad idea. Pitbull used to be so easy to configure but now its all complicated.
Everything is so difficult to manage (Ex. I havent yet learned how to disable party frames in a raid, or how to scale a frame)
No errors yet but sorry to say that I am gonna remove it, cant bother working on a addon for hours.
Go Perl!!
rock idea was rly nice .. i mean it makes everything easier ... but not when it makes other addons useless... i hope ckknight fix the probs ...cause i dont wana switch to titan... :(
my whole ui just fucked up :\
