With new Cata classic patch today (10/29/24), pressing M to open the maps interface causes game to freeze/crash.  Disabled all addons and loaded couple of addons at a time to find the problem, ultimately able to isolate Pitbull as the problematic addon.

Realized that the issue only occurs after downloading the HD textures that Blizz released with the new patch.  Seems that if you have 3D portraits enabled in any of your unit frames with the HD textures, attempting to open the map will lead to a client freeze.  Had to change all the portraits to 2D/class or disabled altogether in order for the client to not freeze/crash.
