Unitframes seem to be positioned from the center of the screen currently. It would be nice to be able to choose the anchor for each frame (and for each group). For example, set Player to be positioned from the BOTTOM, and PartyPets to be positioned from the TOP-LEFT.
This would greatly facilitate using the same UI on multiple computers with different screen resolutions. For example, taking my current setup from my desktop to my laptop results in frames piling up on top of each other at the edges of the screen.
In addition (and perhaps more importantly), it would be nice to be able to anchor one unit frame to another. We should be able to choose the anchor points on both frames, as well as type in an X and Y offset. See Shadowed Unit Frames for a good example of how this should be done.
Allara, I argued for this a long time ago. ckknight specifically does not want to allow anchoring to other unit frames.
I'd understand if you guys don't like me anymore since I'm a massive ticket whore. :)
I agree with Allara's addition, but understand that anchor dependancies and the complication added to the configuration interface go against the philosophy of PB4 (it's supposed to be easier than PB3).
Any follow-up on just the initial ticket content? As far as I can tell it would best be implemented with a single new drop-down list beside any of the X Y positioning sliders, which does mean a slightly more cluttered UI. I do think that it makes positioning frames more conceptually easier, especially when combining PitBull4 with other addons with similarly flexible anchors.
I've seen several addons such as 'SexyCooldowns' use an automatic anchoring system where dependant upon the saved position of the item it will automatically reconfigure the anchor for that unit frame and it's x / y coordinates recalculated for that new anchor. This would keep with the simplistic goal of PB4 and still allow UI / Resolution Scaling without have to move elements around constantly.
