Prat 3.0
In loving memory of Jon Akthar (Sylvanaar)
Hello WoW community, I'm LuciferCatnip, Sylvanaar was my coworker and my mentor. It goes without saying that Jon was an amazingly talented individual. He always seemed to know everything... but he once said to me "It's not about knowing the answers, it's about asking the right questions", he always challenged me to ask me the right questions until I would arrive at the answer on my own terms. Jon was also a champion of the open source movement, and so with special thanks to Gil from Curseforge as well as Sylvanaar's family, there's no better way to honor Sylvanaar's legacy than to keep his project going strong in the community.
If you'd like to help maintain Prat, please reach out to MysticalOS or LuciferCatnip directly. Thank you so much.
About
Prat-3.0 is a chat enhancement addon for World of Warcraft.
It is made up of 30+ smaller "modules" which each provide additional functionality, and can be enabled or disabled individually.
In game, type /prat for a menu. Or use the icon on one of the many data broker hosts.
Prat has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. Really. When I get some more time, I'll try and put together a full list (Even I have lost count)
(Thanks to Dreamsight for this partial list)
- Sync your chat settings across your account (Beta)
- AI powered spam filter (Beta)
- Change arrows, buttons, mouse scroll for chat scroll, scroll speed
- you can add player color per channel, color per level, color per class
- timestamps (styled)
- whether to show timestamp (what format the timestamp should be in)
- whether to show players level
- you can select the option for channel "stickys" (last channel you used you auto use when hitting enter, that sort of thing – or last thing someone said)
- change the looks of the chat's editbox - as well as where it appears (you can even undock it and move it to where you'd like it to be)
- chat fading, fading delay
- You can change the font to a list of fonts, add an outline to it, monochrome it (if you don’t mind messing with files a bit you could probably even add other fonts to that list)
- change the chat frame/chat box appearance
- Keep chat history between game sessions
- Set channel abbreviations
- set brackets and color(or something instead of brackets)round player/lvl
- alt invite option (press keyboard “alt” button and click on the player’s name to auto inv them)
- raid icon
- invite links - click them to invite the person
- URL copying
- Full chat copying + copy button
- Click timestamp to copy line
- Configurable alerts when your name or other word is mentioned
- enables tell target /tt which whispers your target
- Alias options - make macros into short commands
- See names of players Alt characters
- change chat sounds (incoming and outgoing as well as per channel)
- Achievements info and grats
- Full chat search and search box
- Customizable filters for advanced users
- Show item icon next to item links and player class icon next to player names
- Icon-only options for newcomers chat
- Optional flashing or font color change for chat tabs when a new message comes in.
You can enable/disable all Prat modules - don't have to have the ones you don't use running
While trying to reduce resource utilization, it is also important to note that some people prefer the features, and don't care that an addon uses 500k more.
I have the same issue as of today.. i think i installed some update from twitch.. yesterday i was recieving /w alright
In reply to Forge_User_23196289:
The fake Twitch update replaces the edited Lua file. It is almost as if Overwolf doesn't want you repairing them on your own.
Fails to show the new murloc icon for new players in Newcomer chat. Disabled until dev fix implemented.
hmm i did all the mentioned fixed but still have an issue when someone whispers to me I hear voice alert but can't see whisper window! i missed a lot of friends w they thought I'm ignoring lol
i am not getting any error but the editbox will not stay where i put it - using free-floating to position then locking it, it defaults to top

Make the changes that sankto posted a few posts down, I did the GuildRoster() and CreateFrame ones and it fixed it for me.

The fixes below fixed most of the issues, but one still remains that I can tell so far. It gives me an error every time I hit the ENTER key to bring up the Editbox (the chat box I type in):

In reply to Mopperhoss:
I've read in a couple places that the function SetBackdrop has been deprecated.
I have quite a few addons that are failing for that.
Waiting for them to be fixed.
LibQtip fails for that error also. It has an Alpha build I saw yesterday.
Many addons use that library.
Authors may be waiting for that to be updated.
I do not know what function/procedure replaced SetBackdrop.
If I did I could temp fix some of them until the authors do an update.
All I ever do is try to see what I can tweak for a temp fix.
I am not a LUA programmer so have no idea what to even look for or where for this issue.
FYI. I did all this stuff, and Prat stopped giving me errors.
However... I had a problem (before and after editing) where when I entered a pet battle the pet battle UI showed no ability buttons for the pets, and no way to leave the battle (logging out worked). The only button I could press was "Pass" all the other buttons were invisible, and when I pressed a button assuming it was a graphics glitch, I received an error in Blizzar_PetBattleUI.lua which is part of the core UI not an addon.
I disabled all my addons one by one, and Prat was the issue.
Just posting in case anyone encounters something similar. I have no fix. Just disabled Prat for now since its pet battle week in NA.
In reply to Lomack01:
I know this doesn't solve your prob. but it's kinda a work around until the issue is fixed. I was having the same problem where I couldn't see any button other than Pass but I found a macro that forfeits the battle for you, I've found that going right back into the battle after a forfeit the issue resolves itself. Here is a macro: /run C_PetBattles.ForfeitGame() this is for WQ pet battles prob won't be much help w/ PvP pet battles
From where we must Remove?
"local frame="
In reply to Forge_User_78241616:
Nowhere, i just mentioned that i removed that from my post :)
This works for me, thank you!
thanks im testing this now
EDIT: Removed "local frame =".
from where?
In reply to oxed:
Thanks for this and thank you to everyone who helped find the fix!
In reply to oxed:
It all worked for me.
As for the EDIT: Removed "local frame =".
Of those 3 files the only one with local_frame is the Editbox.lua, but when I searched for a line that that had only that string and no other data it was not there. But, so far I am not getting any errors with out removing that Edit...
In reply to Lomack01:
That EDIT was just me mentioning that i removed that part from my post. You can ignore it :)
I"m getting the following error on load in:

Hi, replace
In PlayerNames.lua on line 1357 replace
GuildRoster()
with
C_GuildInfo.GuildRoster()
Save and reload :)
