Prat 3.0
In loving memory of Jon Akthar (Sylvanaar)
Hello WoW community, I'm LuciferCatnip, Sylvanaar was my coworker and my mentor. It goes without saying that Jon was an amazingly talented individual. He always seemed to know everything... but he once said to me "It's not about knowing the answers, it's about asking the right questions", he always challenged me to ask me the right questions until I would arrive at the answer on my own terms. Jon was also a champion of the open source movement, and so with special thanks to Gil from Curseforge as well as Sylvanaar's family, there's no better way to honor Sylvanaar's legacy than to keep his project going strong in the community.
If you'd like to help maintain Prat, please reach out to MysticalOS or LuciferCatnip directly. Thank you so much.
About
Prat-3.0 is a chat enhancement addon for World of Warcraft.
It is made up of 30+ smaller "modules" which each provide additional functionality, and can be enabled or disabled individually.
In game, type /prat for a menu. Or use the icon on one of the many data broker hosts.
Prat has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. Really. When I get some more time, I'll try and put together a full list (Even I have lost count)
(Thanks to Dreamsight for this partial list)
- Sync your chat settings across your account (Beta)
- AI powered spam filter (Beta)
- Change arrows, buttons, mouse scroll for chat scroll, scroll speed
- you can add player color per channel, color per level, color per class
- timestamps (styled)
- whether to show timestamp (what format the timestamp should be in)
- whether to show players level
- you can select the option for channel "stickys" (last channel you used you auto use when hitting enter, that sort of thing – or last thing someone said)
- change the looks of the chat's editbox - as well as where it appears (you can even undock it and move it to where you'd like it to be)
- chat fading, fading delay
- You can change the font to a list of fonts, add an outline to it, monochrome it (if you don’t mind messing with files a bit you could probably even add other fonts to that list)
- change the chat frame/chat box appearance
- Keep chat history between game sessions
- Set channel abbreviations
- set brackets and color(or something instead of brackets)round player/lvl
- alt invite option (press keyboard “alt” button and click on the player’s name to auto inv them)
- raid icon
- invite links - click them to invite the person
- URL copying
- Full chat copying + copy button
- Click timestamp to copy line
- Configurable alerts when your name or other word is mentioned
- enables tell target /tt which whispers your target
- Alias options - make macros into short commands
- See names of players Alt characters
- change chat sounds (incoming and outgoing as well as per channel)
- Achievements info and grats
- Full chat search and search box
- Customizable filters for advanced users
- Show item icon next to item links and player class icon next to player names
- Icon-only options for newcomers chat
- Optional flashing or font color change for chat tabs when a new message comes in.
You can enable/disable all Prat modules - don't have to have the ones you don't use running
While trying to reduce resource utilization, it is also important to note that some people prefer the features, and don't care that an addon uses 500k more.

Thanks!

I did this but the "Edit Mode" from Blizzard still prevents it to work by not saving your UI profile. I suppose I have to wait for Blizz to fix that? Has anyone else the issue?
Here is the error I get
In reply to ETSeki:
10/10! Thanks!
In reply to ETSeki:
My hero!
Im no programmer but i tried my best and i didnt got any errors with this till now so i hope it will be helpful for others.
https://github.com/ETSeki/prat-3-0/releases/tag/DF1.5
Edit: 31.10.2022 I just pushed my last release for now. It allows to freely move the main Chat Frame to get it flush with the screen again and removed a bugged Color Picker from the AltNames Menu. From her on i will mainly help the Legacy of Sylvanar fork as good as i can that can push updates directly here to curseforge so you get them with your addon manager again.
In reply to ETSeki:
Thank you!
Can we disable these msgs in chat upon login somehow?
[07:29:51] Prat 3.0: Prat 3.0 (DEBUG)
[07:29:51] Prat 3.0: Module Count: 38 total 31 loaded, 0 enabled
In reply to ETSeki:
Thanks for the fix <3
In reply to ETSeki:
The only thing that could be fixed is when you go into edit mode it says prat 3.0 has been blocked from an action only available to the blizzard ui, other than that works great
In reply to AmazingAspie:
That would likely be futile -- if you picked "disable", then tried whatever again, you'd most likely get same msg, only whining about another addon. Feels like it is an issue with how addons 'wedge' themselves into the UI in general -- so fix probably would have to come from Bliz' end.
The only way around that is, as you prob have found by now, is a /reload.
BTW, long as considering UI err messages, if you use Grid2, and clicked the 'hide blizzard raid frames', an error msg pops up that most probably NONE of us have ever seen before, if you /reload and try to do anything:
" *** ForceTaint Strong *** has been blocked from an action..."
which is most definitely NOT any addon I've ever installed, or even heard of.
In reply to ETSeki:
There are still some instanced of SetMinResize that need to be removed from Prat's modules. For example, EditBox.lua line 674
In reply to ETSeki:
Thanks for doing this!
I am putting the unzipped file in my addons folder and it is not recognising it?
I think I'm doing something wrong, pls help!
In reply to JBabbb:
You have to check for the folder name. I noticed that the "main folder" was named "prat..."
The correct one should be "Prat...", with capital "P". I think that's causing the issue for you.
In reply to Breakerzeus:
Thanks you for helping.
I changed the folder name from 'prat-3-0-DF1.1' to 'Prat-3-0-DF1.1' and still no success. :(
In reply to JBabbb:
I'm not seeing the 'DF1.1' anywhere in the file or folders I downloaded....
I downloaded the zipped file from ETSeki's link and unzipped it to the usual ...Interface\Addons\ folder - the folders unzipped to prat-3.0 and prat-3.0_libraries and it seems to work as it should when I logged in.
In reply to McAoifeDA:
As stupid as it sounds, this really helped me.
I was clicking on the source code, I completely didn't even see the link above you are referring to.
Thank you both for your help, never manually installed addons till now.
In reply to JBabbb:
Cool! Glad to know it helped! :D
In reply to ETSeki:
Hi i fixed the bug in Editbox.lua:674 and checked all files for the known deprecated functions.
I dont know what causes the Error in Edit Mode because Bug Sack says the blocked function is ClearTarget() but i couldnt find a single line in all of Prat or the Libraries that uses this function.Maybe someone with more experience has a hint for me how to solve this problem but at the moment it seems to not block anything relevant and only throws out a error message that can be ignored.
There is no user option to disable the messages at the start and because i only fixed addons till know and didnt wrote any i dont know how to add one.
You can disable them in the code by outcommenting(put -- at the start of the line) line 432 and line 492 of the addon.lua in the Prat-3.0\addon folder.
Right now i will let them in.
You have to download the Zip file at the top not the source code zip. It contains two folders the(know correctly named :) ) "Prat-3.0" folder and the "Prat-3.0_Libraries" folder. You have to copy both in your addon folder.
In reply to ETSeki:
You should create a separate addon and call it Prat Legacy of Sylvanaar or something similar and maybe we can get some devs to help keep his legacy alive.
