Quartz
Quartz is a modular approach to a casting bar addon. An overview of (hopefully most of) the modules:
*Player
The core of Quartz is lightweight implementation of a standard casting bar, with configurable size, text and icon positioning, and colors.
*Target/Focus
Implementation of target and focus casting bars in similar fashion to the player cast bar.
*Buffs
Display of target and focus buffs and debuffs as duration bars.
*Flight
Hooks into FlightMap or InFlight to display the current flight progress on your casting bar.
*Global Cooldown
Displays a tiny spark-bar to show your Global Cooldown near the cast bar. Helpful for those who'd rather not squint at their action bars to see when they can cast again.
*Interrupt
Changes the color and text of your casting bar to help show that your cast has been interrupted (and show who interrupted it).
*Latency
Displays the amount of time spent between cast send and start events, in the form of a bar at the end of your casting bar, with optional text that displays the actual duration of the lag. This helps in canceling casts when they will not actually be interrupted, especially for users with consistently high pings.
*Mirror
Shows the 'basic' timers such as breath and feign death, as well as some 'odd' ones such as party invite time, resurrect timeout, and arena game start, and a framework for injecting custom timers into the bars.
*Range
Recolors the casting bar when your cast target moves out of range mid-cast.
*Swing
Displays a swing timer for your melee weapon as well as hunter autoshot.
*Timer
Allows for creating custom timers displayed on the mirror bars.
*Tradeskill Merge
Merges multiple casts of the same tradeskill item into one big cast bar.
Use /quartz to bring up the configuration menu.
2 things would make this absolutely perfect for me
More descriptive tooltips about the settings.
Enemy cooldown timers (for example a timer bar when enemy pally sheild will expire) this mod already exists but since quartz replaces several of my mods already this last piece would be perfect so that everything has the same look and feel.
Love this mod, it's probably best caster mod in the game. Keep up the good work.
i should say red section is at opposite end cast bar on channeled spells which is still wrong end bar also.
i love the idea this addon. i live in australia playing on a US server and hav a high ping so this will be ideal. my only hassle is that for some reason the red latency section my cast bars is at the start on all spells with a casting time. yet the red section is at end as ment to be with channeled spells. i just cant find what option will correct this for me. HELP i need this mod :)
The swing bar doesnt works for druids while in bear or cat form, so could u add/fix this ?
Any thoughts of adding a Pet Target cast bar?
This is a great addon, but I still can't find out how to change the buff bar's position. Isn't it even possible, or can't I just do it?
I really like this mod, I think it has potential to become the standard for casting bars/timers. I think the only thing currently holding it back is it's graphical interface. Both confusing and non-user friendly; it lacks real customization and is in dire need of being reconstructed. I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to place bars using my mouse rather than using random numbers in a trial and error effort to place a casting bar. I'll keep my eye on this one hoping for some updates. Until then I'll continue using eCastingbars and NaturECB
I totally agree with you. Up till now i have used Natur Enemy CastBar and eCastingbar to sort of fill out the blanks, but its memory consuming and not very raid friendly as opposed to this mod which is very good looking (that LiteStep skin is just awesome)
But as you very well point out. missing that user friendliness that is essential if you want a mod to be both useful and attractive. I see alot of these coordinate typing things, but they are all for individual text and bars and essentially just makes a mess out of something that should be quite simple. It might be harder to make a mod that supports click and drag bars, but in the end if its made it is so very much worth it when it comes to a mod of this quality.
Nymbia: If you want a hand on changing this mod into something more user friendly im available for help if needed. I don't know anything on the coding, but i can give you pointers in how to make it more user friendly if you wish to do it :) I can almost guarantee that it will be a more popular mod after its been altered to something more user friendly :)
Otherwise a tutorial would be a good idea if you dont want to change anything on the mod itself :) Just make sure there are alot of images in it :)
The Adventure font... anyone know how to get to it?
As for the debufftimers, is there a way to filter the dots I want to monitor? For example I dont need to see misery on my target as a shadowpriest. Would be imba if I could chose which spells I want to monitor.
A note for the author, testing has shown (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=965509274) that haste effects do not reduce the GCD, so a 1.5 second cast such as Scorch hasted and quartz'ed with a stopcasting macro has you bumping before the GCD clears. Possibly allowing for that in your cast bar for spells under 1.5 seconds to have extra bar added on so people can time their casts would be a good feature for a future release.
Hi. Spamming frostbolt works fine, but when i want to follow a frostbolt directly with a fire blast it doesnt seem to work and says 'another action in progress'. I have made another of the same macro for Fire Blast:
/stopcast /cast Fire Blast
and I get the above gah! So I can't get that immediate firebast/ice lance onto a frozen target after a frostbolt, without letting the cast finish through the red =s. Any ideas?
Great addon but I'm having problems with my balance druid. Everytime I try to use my /stopcasting /cast ____ macro it wont even let me cast my spells even in moonkin form or caster form. I know my macros are done correctly because I copied them from a mage I know and his work just fine. Does this addon have a problem with druids or am I just messing up somehow?
Can't figuere out how to change the size and positon of the bar that is displayed when im casting a spell, when i select player and change the setting it only change it for channling spells and not casting ??
Remove release timer? As it no longer exsist.
Suggestion: Energy Tick, like the swing bar or something. Would be lovely. ;)
Whenever I target myself and cast any spell, the target bar appears as well as the player bar, Is there a way to disable this, not making the target bar show if you target yourself.
Great addon if that works :).
Edit: Another thing, the mirror bar has no "border" option.
I love Quartz and most things about it but I mostly downloaded it for the reason of the swingbar (dunno why just figured it would be handy) inorder to find out that it doesn't work while dualwielding? (Atleast not on shamans) but as soon as I put on a shield it instantly starts to working... any fix for this or anyone ecountering the same problem? And is there any way to change it by doing something in the LUA?
After downloading the mod, i now have a mini version of the cast bar at the bottom of my screen, its really small but goes through the casts of everything just like my main cast bar, but i cant seem to figure out what it is, i made sure to disable blizzard castbar in the quartz commands, but its still here..Any ideas?
Gahzar: I believe you are talking about the weapon swing bar, which shows an estimated time between your weapons. Simple as that :)
Karnye: Type /Quartz and go down to the Player tab. Uncheck 'Lock', and you can drag the cast bar to whereever you want it.
