RaidChecklist
RaidChecklist
RaidChecklist provides an at-a-glance overview of which core buffs, debuffs, dispels and crowd control abilities are available in the raid at the moment, and what class/spec/pet could bring each.
It doesn't try to be a full-featured raid planner, but is instead targeted at those who want a more casual add-on which can assist them in putting together a balanced raid on the fly. It is also very useful for hunters wanting to pick a pet to fill a void in the abilities otherwise brought by the group.
RaidChecklist comes with a plethora of different checklists, and has checklists for each and every class, with multiple options on what to include. Check out the configuration screen for the full list!
There's also a built-in F.A.Q. page available from the add-on settings menu, hopefully answering the common questions and explaining the different colors and icons.
News
6.1.2.0
- Spirit Beast entry updated to also provide Crit.
6.0.3.3 - 6.0.3.4
- Minor ability/talent correction.
6.0.3.2
- Corrected a few abilities/talents.
- Now treating the Hunter 'Lone Wolf' talent separately. This talent provides a choice of all the main buffs, but RaidChecklist has no way knowing which buff (if any) has been chosen. To deal with this dilemma, if you're playing a hunter and have 'Lone Wolf' talented, the potential buffs will show in blue ("may provide") rather than green ("provides"). For hunter group members, by default RCL filters out the 'Lone Wolf' talent altogether to avoid claiming that all the buffs are provided. This latter behavior can be changed with the config option 'Exclude Lone Wolf', if you prefer to use the old behavior. The only way to resolve this fully would be to make RaidChecklist scan for buffs, which is far too large a project for me to undertake given I haven't played WoW since early Cataclysm.
6.0.3.1
- Minor database updates.
6.0.0.1
- Warlords of Draenor / 6.0.2 update. This includes a number of changes to handle the internal game changes made by Blizzard, and a metric truck-ton of database updates.
- Some languages do not have full compatibility support yet. If you can help with translations, either do so directly at project localization page, or just drop me a message here on Curse and I'll fill it in.
- If I've missed any changes, please open a ticket to let me know.
- Note: the mage "Improved Flamestrike" perk is recorded in RaidCheclist as being level 100, though it can, depending on RNG, be available as early as level 92. I don't have a good way to address that, sorry.
Features
- Compact display in color-coded list format.
- Shows a count for each ability where it's provided by more than one player, giving even better overview with even a quick glance.
- Mouse-over an entry brings up tooltip with information on what classes/specs/pets can bring the (de)buff.
- Clicking an entry opens a detailed information panel on the abilities for that entry.
- Ability to specify which groups to include in the check, while still seeing what the excluded groups could bring.
- Hides behind a freely movable button when not wanted.
- DataBroker integration, and an option to hide the normal button.
- Keybinding and chat commands (/rcl or /raidchecklist) to toggle the checklist.
- Updates automatically as pets are summoned or dismissed.
- Inspects group members "in the background" to obtain their talent information without needing any player interaction.
- Option to specify in which direction the list appears relative to the button. E.g. "Up, Left" or "Down, Right".
- Since it's not possible to automatically keep talents/spec/glyphs up-to-date sensibly, RaidChecklist has a small "rescan" button in the top right corner of the checklist.
- Notifies other RaidChecklist users of any player specialization/talent/glyph changes. This is done in the LibGroupInSpecT library, which is available for other addons to use as well. While Blizzard provides no way of detecting these changes on other players, any user of an addon with LibGroupInSpecT will have this feature! For other players, there is always the manual "rescan" button.
Class-specific Features
- Per-class check-lists are available, showing only the abilities of that class. Use either for personal improvement, or as the raid leader to remind yourself of what abilities a particular class would bring.
- Hunter & Warlock Pet Mode. For the hunters and warlocks who don't have to worry about full raid composition and only want to make a smart pet choice. Only shows the abilities which can be provided by a pet.
- Also aware of a hunter's callable pets, not just the summoned one. Abilities available only from a callable pet are marked in blue. This is only applicable to the hunter himself/herself - this information is not shared to other users of RaidChecklist. To activate this feature you need to visit a stable master once.
Supported Locales
- enUS - Fully supported.
- ruRU - Fully supported.
- koKR - Fully supported.
- deDE - Functional.
- frFR - Functional.
- esES - Functional.
If you can help with translations, head over to the project localization page.
Known issues
- Talent/spec information can go stale, as the game provides no notification when a group member re/un/talents. Use the "rescan" button to force a refresh.
Found a bug?
If you've found a bug that isn't listed here as a known issue, please open a ticket with the details. The notifications for comments on Curse aren't as reliable as a ticket, so I might not see it for some time (if all).
A couple of quick observations from my mage though. It says I'm providing a snare/slow through frostbolt, but it doesn't mention frostfire bolt (ok, could be redundant to do so) and since I'm an arcane mage I'm surprised it doesn't list my Slow as a snare/slow.
Also, it doesn't show that I can cc humanoids, but they are very much sheepable. It does list my ability to cc beasts.
I'm still not listed for cc on humans though, so that point remains valid.
A quick question/comment. Is there a way to set it's location, hide the checkmark button floating in the middle of the screen, and then quickly open the frame indepent of using the checkmark button?
My UI is highly customized, and so far the only way I've seen of opening the frame is via the checkmark button, making it either problematic to have a button floating in the middle of my screen all the time, or having to go in and out of interface to access the button hiding property, unhide it, click the button to open the frame, then go back through interface to re-hide the button, etc.
Am I just missing an obvious option in the addon settings?
"if InCombatLockdown() then return end"
as its first statement, and that helped considerably.
Dispel Magic (offensive) doesn't list Spellsteal from Mages?
Am I correct that this addon doesn't remember abilities from players? Could it be a feature to only remember guild members?
And when linking spells it gives me two links instead of one.
Whatever you do with this comment I still praise this addon as one of my favorites already!
I'm not sure what you mean when you're asking about "remembering" players' abilities. RaidChecklist inspects players in your raid/party that are in range to learn their talents and specs and then adds the abilities that they can do to the menu. Are you saying you want RCL to store those abilities permanently so that it doesn't have to reinspect? I'm not sure that would be a wise feature since players can and often to change their talents.
And getting two links instead of one sounds like a bug. If you would be so kind as to submit a bug report (http://www.wowace.com/addons/raid_checklist/create-ticket/), I'm sure Anyia will look into it! :)
For example, a good half of my raiders will already be at the instance when invites go out, others will be in SW trade district at the bank or AH, or in the Dwarven district bank / ah. This does nothing to help me, sitting at the stable master, seeing which pet I need to bring for the 10 man that night. Sometimes I could have to choose between 1 of 4 or 5 pets, other nights I can bring the one I want because we actually have all the buffs and debuffs. Waiting to see what everyone's talent is when I am in the instance and in range of everyone, hearthing, hitting the stables in case I didn't bring the right array of pets, and getting summoned / flying back takes too much time. So I find myself looking at mmochamp raid comp while invites go out, checking armory for members I don't remember, and picking a pet from there, completely negating the RCL addon.
I love the concept of the addon, but unless it saves memeber's talents from previous inspects, and updates them upon each new inspect, it's just not as useful as it could be. Alternately, if saving them is not an option, would it be possible to incorporate a button that would tell the addon "search armory for current raid member's talents"? That way when everyone is invited, or most folks, we could query armory and get updates that way despite people being out of range? Realistically that would probably too much of a memory hog, but then I know nothing about building addons :D
Implementing this feature won't save you from having to return to the stablemaster for a needed pet if the "saved" information for one of your guildmates turns out to be incorrect because someone has respecced since last you saw them. What I'm trying to get at is that implementing this feature would be a lot of extra work (and a lot of extra memory taxation) for a purpose that it ultimately cannot serve.
Updating via armory information might be possible, but I'd have to ask Anyia about that.
I'm curious though... are there really more than 4 or 5 buffs in constant flux that your raid is missing? I don't have any experience with 10man raids, so perhaps you do, but that just hasn't been my experience in 25mans so far.
Looking up armory profiles is a good idea, but cannot be done unfortunately (Blizzard explicitly prevents addons from communicating outside the game).
What can be done, and already is done, is that RaidChecklist uses the LibGroupTalents library. It's a component used by a bunch of addons which enables quick and painless talent sharing between players using such addons. If you group with anyone who has RaidChecklist or any other addon containing LibGroupTalent (such as Energized) RCL gets the talent information from that player without having to be within inspect range.
So, if you get your fellow raiders to install and run RCL, Energized, etc, you should get their talent info even while you're camping the stable master!
I should note that between version 4.0.6 and 4.0.9 (inclusive), this feature only worked between RCL and not the other addons due to the work-around I had to put in for learning mage talents. As of 4.0.10 it should sync properly with all LibGroupTalent-using addons.
I'll ponder the idea of caching guild member's talents, but right now I can't see a great way of handling it.
Or it could always be condensed into a "myClass" button. So it only shows pally buffs for paladins, etc. :D
Thanks!
