I noticed this last DMF that it periodically triggered but thought it was because I had added Pond Nettle as a custom item and set it up wrong. However, yesterday I noticed that Pond Nettle was now included in the addon (first time actually fishing for the Pond Nettle and was getting 2 counters) so I removed my custom setup. Today I was fishing at DMF and again the Pond Nettle counter triggered. It only happens periodically which makes it odder. I have a screen shot but can't figure out how to attach it.
This is very odd. Unfortunately, the fishing detection relies heavily on a library that is now discontinued. I don't think Rarity was properly updated to work without it, but it's difficult to say why this one item would bug out without having more information to reproduce the issue.
Did you change zones in between attempts? Fished from pools or open water? Any other item that is bugged when fishing for it?
Right now I can't say more; this will have to be investigated further to narrow down where the zone detection fails exactly.
Didn't change zones, just sat there fishing-no pools, just open water, nothing else bugged. Has happened on other toons as well, sometimes just a periodic trigger as in the attached screen shot, other times pretty regularly.
Wasn't sure if I should create a new ticket or add on to this one, but just in case:
Pond Nettle counts are also triggering when fishing from The Lurker Below pool in Serpentshrine Cavern. I didn't even think to check open water fishing in SSC; sorry!
If someone with this problem can provide debug data (turn on Debug Mode and see what it says when it incorrectly triggers for the item) I may be able to narrow it down.
Something seems fishy (ha...ha...) with the fishing detection, or maybe it's the basic zone detection that doesn't use the library I mentioned.
I've let 2 DM Faire's go by and haven't seen this pop back up as an issue. I do the fishing quest on multiple toons so maybe whatever was causing it is resolved. Going to close it out.
I've had the same issue before when fishing for the Wish Remover in Dalaran - Broken Isles. A relog fixed it, but it returned (I still need that achievement) once over the course of a week or two.
Fishing now at Darkmoon Island I turned on, as you suggested, the Debug Mode and fished a few more before relogging (and, for the time being, 'fixing' the problem)

Thanks. I'll reopen this issue.
Is this still a problem? I've changed the fishing detection and fixed various things for the BFA prepatch. If it's still not fixed, there must be something really weird going on since I can't see why it would track this seemingly random item in another zone.
I'm going to test this again later but I don't have time to fish for hours and potentially never see the issue manifesting :)
Didn't see it this week at the Faire, but as it appears randomly can't say that means anything. Will let you know if I notice again.
Thanks for following up.
