If you're reporting a problem, please ALWAYS include the following information or I won't be able to help you!  (Suggestions or feature requests need not use this template)

    • Addon version (Example: r664-alpha)
    • Did you RESTART the game after updating the addon? (Make sure to exit and close fully the client, and not just reload your UI, to detect newly-added files)
    • Steps to reproduce the error or unwanted behaviour (If the addon won't load, make sure to enable script errors!)
    • Any other information you consider relevant or helpful in solving the problem (Screenshots, expected behaviour, things you already tried to fix the issue...)

Thank you for understanding! It's not always easy to troubleshoot problems. Please don't make it more difficult by disregarding these suggestions.

I've noticed that progress of tracking reset for some items. For example attempts for looting invincible are shown correctly but for infinite timereaver counter has been reset after over hundred attempts. I don't see any pattern, some counters just randomly reset.  I tried closing the game, updating addon and so on. (r698)

Some items, like Invincible, use statistics provided by Blizzard. These are stored on their servers and should mostly work. The others are stored locally in your SavedVariables folder, so if those files are damaged, deleted, or not saved correctly it's very possible some data might be lost.

I've actually seen this happen a few times myself, and it might be caused by updating addons without shutting down the client first (which can cause the game to corrupt the database somehow), or if the OS sets the files to readonly so the changes won't be saved on exiting the game. There's probably many more such glitches that may cause data loss, none of which I could prevent by altering Rarity itself.

This isn't something addons can really work around since the WOW client handles everything related to addons. Unless, of course, there would be a bug in Rarity that specifically causes attempts to be reset, though I don't have any evidence to believe this might be the case. If you see a pattern and can reproduce the problem, and it's actually caused by Rarity's code, then I will happily look into it. Otherwise, I don't see what I can do here :/

I recommend to make backups and simply restore attempts from there. It's generally a good practice anyway.
