Rarity
NEW:
- Support for Cataclysm Classic (experimental)
- Rarity now has a Discord server!

Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

have you quit permanently? or just taking a break?
Does anyone know how I can get Titan Panel or Chocolate bar to feature rarity? Even with updating the toc file manually ever since 7.2 was released the drop down on chocolate bar has disappaered and Im not even getting the visual (so many attempts) when fishing from pools even though other people I know are. I have tried Titan Panel and like Chocolate Bar Rarity doesn't show up in the list of Plugins. So I have absoloutely no way of tracking mounts or pets other than looking in journal to see what I am missing. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.
The TOC file has nothing to do with it, that's to prevent the addon from being disabled automatically if "Load out-of-date addons" isn't checked.
What you are referring to is provided by the LibDataBroker library/addon, and while I don't run Titan Panel nor Chocolate Bars I haven't had any issues with Bazooka (which uses the same LDB interface).
After looking into it some more: There were no changes to that particular library for 7.2. What's more, I installed a fresh copy of Titan Panel and Chocolate Bars; both show Rarity as an available plugin.
The issue must be on your side. Is Rarity actually enabled? It sounds as though the patch disabled it because it was tagged "out of date" and you simply haven't re-enabled it after updating the TOC.
Otherwise... Try deleting the saved variables for those addons (create a backup first!) to see if that helps?
Question! There is any way to stop tracking some loot? I been literally trolled by this addon 40 times, with arthas and yogg-saron battle pet, I got them and still showing when they drop as a new achieve so I freak out every single time.
Simply uncheck the "Repeatable" box for those items :)
I can't seem to remember how to take the tiny progress bar off of the screen. what do I click again?
For those who may be wondering why the Group Finder checkbox provided by Rarity stopped working yesterday, this is why:
Group Finder Addons Changed
While Rarity's option did not deal with automating the creation of groups, it did utilize functions to automate searching for said groups. Unfortunately, Rarity's option was not the only one caught in the crossfire. BadBoy (an anti-spam addon) and Premade Group Finder (updated UI and filters) have also been affected.
I love this add on but I am having a slight issue. My attempts to get a pet to drop is not showing in my chat when I loot a mob. I have found that I should be able to shift click on the pet in the interface but this is greyed out and won't work. Am I doing something wrong? Please help 😊 Thanks
Hey folks, just posting again to remind people that I quit WoW a few months ago after keeping this add-on alive for many years (and playing WoW since launch). Since I no longer have an account, I can't provide updates to Rarity anymore. For that I do apologize—I know how rough it is to have an add-on stop being maintained, especially since Blizzard keeps messing with the APIs.
If anyone is interested in taking over for me, please send me an email at [email protected]. I can give you access to the repository at WowAce to make commits. I would prefer only experienced add-on authors, as Rarity is pretty complicated.
I no longer get alerts about messages or comments here or on WowAce, so email is the only way to reach me.
Cheers!
Thanks for your contribution. This has been my favourite addon for the last few years. If anyone know of simular addons for when a patch breaks Rarity, please point me in that direction!

So after running a few MoP Timewalking dungeons i noticed it didnt count tries on Infinate Timereaver. Was just wondering if others had this problem or if the MoP timewalking dungeons simlply haven't been added to the Mounts loot talbe through rarity's "eyes"
nvm, im seeing a post just down here saying how to add them
:D
I'm trying to track drop rate of Shal'dorei Silk (cloth) from specific mobs. I already added the cloth's ID, and the IDs of the mobs I'm tracking. Couldn't find this "statistic ID" on Wowhead or anywhere really. Now Rarity keeps saying X/0 attempts, like 13/0 attempts, 25/0 attempts, and so on. This isn't really helpful. I'm looking for a report like 13/26 attempts (50% success rate). So how exactly do I accomplish this?
Also, when it comes to something like cloth, the achievement notifications gets really repetitive and annoying, and, again, I can't find exactly where to disable it.
Rarity isn't designed to track things the way you're trying to do it. I think there are other add-ons out there that track average drop rate of items from mobs, but I'm not sure what they're called. Rarity isn't intended to be used that way.
Fair enough.
And yes, there used to be, but unfortunately, they're not updated anymore. I know you also stopped playing WoW, but those other guys stopped updating way back.
Currently, it looks like there isn't a single up-to-date addon for tracking drop rates of common drops from certain mobs.
We can use Wowhead, of course, but a problem happens when Blizzard patches something, and Wowhead keeps the old data and percentages; those old drop rates can be very misleading. So an addon to track personal drop rates is really the only ideal solution for this sort of need.
Thank you anyway, Allara.
Hmmm...or maybe MobInfo2 is the addon for this job. It does a lot more than show drop-rates, so that's why it's not easy to find.
In order to add the MoP Timewalking bosses (for the Infinite Timereaver).
1. Make a backup of Rarity\Options_Defaults.lua
2. Edit Options_Defaults.lua
3. Scroll down or search for ["Reins of the Infinite Timereaver"]
4. Add these NPC ID's:
