With alternate specs now available, it would be nice to be able to either simply see what a piece of gear would do for us in an alternate spec, or hold down a key while mousing over to see alternate spec data. (I'd need the data often enough that I wouldn't want to hold down a button to do so, and shift already brings up my item comparison windows, so I'd prefer no button at all.)
To give an idea of why this is necessary: I get spellpower and spirit percentage increases in Holy spec as a priest. As discipline spec, I only get an intellect percentage increase in my talents.
This feature is already partially present in the most recent version of Outfitter. You may hold Shift to compare item tooltips across the same slot of multiple outfits. Integration with this feature, or separately, would make me happy in my pants.
Either I misread what you typed, Ithato, or you are misunderstanding what Moleculor is talking about. The gear swapping is easy enough, it's the fact that some talents increase the bonus of certain stats.
As an example: Feral druid questing, has no need for spirit, but has an offspec of resto.
Quest rewards are menial, sees a possible upgrade to their current resto slot.
Cloak, +int, +stam, +SP. New cloak: +stam, +less int, +less SP, +Spirit.
In order to correctly gauge how much of an upgrade this piece would be, you would need to either know the stat conversions off the top of your head (thereby defeating the purpose of this mod) or switch specs. Having to switch specs every time you come across a prospect is tedious at best.
The solution to this problem (I think) is to take a 'screenshot' of the spec, and bind it to a modifier (or certain stats in the case of a druid) so that when you press the button, it will pseudo-switch your talent spec so you can see the stat conversions.
... with the added complication of guessing if e.g. a feral is going to be in bear or cat form ;)
(It looks at your current shapeshift right now... but your dualspec doesn't exactly have a current shapeshift.)
