SimpleMD

Table of Contents

SimpleMD is a small addon used to broadcast information about your threat redirection spells to your raid or party. SimpleMD now tracks both Misdirection and Tricks of the Trade

Slash Commands

/simplemd or /smd

Features

Automatic broadcasting on successful Misdirection/Tricks cast, even from within macros
Multiple display zones including, the chat frame, to a custom channel, raid warning, raid and party chat, and even to Scrolling Combat Text addons
Warnings include: MD/Tricks cast, MD/Tricks fading, and cooldown information
Optional cooldown bars for a visual representation of everyone's MD/Tricks cooldown
Bars will switch to a 4 or 6 second duration when you are actually transferring threat (for MD and Tricks respectively)
Improved combat log handling means that SimpleMD is able to track all threat redirection effect casts and fades from any hunter or rogue, even if they don't have SimpleMD
The addon only sends messages for cooldown alerts
CD Bars and Cast/Fade/CD warnings are only displayed if you are in a party or raid

Localization

Although the addon will detect and display message without any translations, everything will be in English. Currently nothing is fully translated. If you would like to help translate this addon please visit the WoWAce page and use the Localization Tool. Also, if you update the translations, please file a ticket about it so I can make an updated release.

Reporting Bugs/Suggestions

Please use the ticket system to submit bug reports. It makes my life much easier and will get problems fixed quicker since I get an email when a ticket is submitted, but I get nothing for comments on Curse. If you need to discuss something and would rather not use a ticket you can also use the forum thread on the WoWAce forums.

Great addon; still working in 4.0.1. To elaborate, I've been using the Misdirection glyph heavily on my hunter, and your addon is handling it all quite nicely. Granted, the new glyph could be causing problems for this addon that I wouldn't notice, especially with the cooldown bars (I have that feature disabled).

That said, I do have a request. It would be nice if warnings or a cooldown bar was in place as a quick reference as to how much time the misdirected threat has left before fading. Since I leave this addon active when on my druid tank, it would be nice to know when my threat against my target is going to suddenly drop so that I could plan accordingly and be prepared with a quick taunt if necessary.

I've found that the ability cooldown itself is a fairly good indicator of when the threat fades. Obviously for MD it is 4 seconds early and for Tricks it is 6 seconds early, but it gives me a nice window.

I am slightly wary of adding more bars, I'm afraid it would just be screen clutter. I suppose I could add warning messages (10 sec, 5 sec, threat faded).

I am using your mod to keep track of Tricks of the Trade and other's rogues as well. To know who they are totting, when and what's their CD on it.

But the CD timers seem to be off, and more often than not they either randomly show up or not at all. Not a clue what's causing this, but right now it's handy when it works but definitely not 100% reliable.

Could it be conflicting with another add on? or have it's timers off?

I think Blizzard changed the duration of the initial buff to 20 seconds, that could be causing small problems. I'll change that in the code, and try to run some tests.

Tricks of the Trade has been changed indeed. The buff before it goes off is at 20s (down from 30s), and if it runs out without going off, the 30s cooldown is removed (i.e. you can use it again straight away).

I've tried both the latest release and the latest alpha. In neither case can I get the simpleMD Anchor to show to let me move the frame, so it sits smack in the center of my screen where I don't want it. Because of this I've disabled the mod for now.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might do to get it to reappear?

The latest alpha versions include some very experimental code. If you are using Alphas and notice strange behavior with Readiness or receive error messages please file a ticket instead of posting here.

Just wanted to give a quick thanks for all the hard work that is put into this great hunter addon. It's lightweight, very useful, and has never given me any issues...that's all I can really ask for out of this. Thanks again for all your hard time and effort!

When using Readiness while MD is on CD:
AceTimer-3.0: CancelTimer(handle[, silent]): 'table: 12F8BE38' - no such timer registered
