Skada Damage Meter
Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.
"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".
Note: I took a tiny break from WoW (a decade), but recently started playing SoD. Be aware that this addon may not quite work yet.
Usage
When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.
Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.
In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.
You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.
Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.
Plugins
Skada is easy to extend, and there were once many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality. However, there are unlikely to be any maintained ones currently.
There is a page with API information here.

For now use comments.
Just me or does it not auto hide and stay that way during pvp for anyone else?
Hey Zarnivoop,
first at all -> Great Addon =)
But for alle UI-costumizer ... you have forgotten to add the window names to your skada windows... so, all users who wants to parent or anchor the skada frame to their kgpanels(for example) ... wont work :\
I hope you read this and we can cheer up with the next hotfix to find an windowname of the skada windows :)
I play a Disc Priest and it's actually a decent portion of my healing, and people take a look at Total Healing and neglect Absorbs.
Also, it would be great if we could mouseover the line of the Death log and get a tooltip of the full text: my window is not wide enough to see it all and I don't want to expand it just to handle 10% of its functionality.
Overall, I love the combination of Omen, Recount, and Grim! I'll never go back.
Raiding in Ulduar has been a problem with the game freezing up for extended periods since 3.2. I had switched to Skada because it was 'light weight'. Unfortunately, disabling Skada appears to have resolved the problem (at least no freezing on Thorim, Mimiron, Veezax, or Yogg when I had been having issues all night prior to that.
I don't know if there is some other addon that Skada may be having a conflict with (or wether I just have too many addons).
I know you can shift-click individual persons to see their damage on specific targets, but a combined list of all players' damage on specific targets would be excellent.
For instance it would be extremely useful to be able to print damage done to Snobold Vassals to pinpoint people who aren't doing what they are supposed to do. Same with frozen stuff on Hodir and plenty other bosses.
Text commands for displaying reports, ex /skada report 5 raid or something similar.
Healing done by enemies along with DPS/HPS for their respectable categories
Separate modules that allows us to see more detailed info like recount (only thing keeping me still running recount). maybe make it another mod that requires skada to keep skada's light weight design.
Does anynoe else have this problem? I would really like all my text to be white as in the screenshots.
I've just had a little test of it on my mage, and noticed a problem! It doesn't seem to be working properly with DOTs.
I first noticed that when I use a pyroblast, it records the initial pyroblast hit, and the first DOT effect, but the next 2 were ignored. The same problem was happening with living bomb and ignite. I don't know if the same happens with warlock dots? I can confirm that this is the same problem with all dot effects from my mages spells.
On another note, in a BG earlier, my friend did smoe testing. He discovered that the same player was placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. 5th, 6th and 9th place on the DPS metre.
I'm having two little problems with Skada and I thought you'd like to hear them:
I've set Skada to switch from damage done to threat when in combat and also use the "color name/text by class" option, which leads to some confusion when switching. I think it copies the text colors from the damage done view when switching to thread.
For example:
Hunter is first place in damage, so green text.
Paladin is second place in damage, so pink text.
Enter combat:
Paladin is first place because he's the tank and has highest threat, but his text is now green like the hunters. The bar color is rightfully pink though.
Hunter is now second place in threat, but his text is now pink, while the bar is rightfully green.
I hope you understand this problem.
The second thing is:
Although I enabled the "hide in PvP" option, Skada does in fact not hide itself when I'm in a battleground and thus continues to collect data.
Any hints on how to solve this?
Best regards,
Xaith
There are some thing that I hope could change in a future release though. In the view list there's a lot of things I don't care about. I generally look at damage done, healing, absorbs, fails, deaths. Those other views only make it harder too scroll and find the ones I need. Recount seems more difficult, but knowing to click x times left or right get's a habit, while right/left clicking, scrolling down and looking for a name remains distracting if you only want a few quick looks (without having too many windows open: great option btw).
- Can you make the view list configurable to show only favorites?
- Can you make a combined healing+absorb view?
- Can you possibly place the announce function less deep, or make a separate button or something like that? It's often very helpful to be able to do this very quickly in fight to point out certain info, like fails, slacking, etc.
Hope you'll consider this.
Kind regards,
y
Hello there. First off: Great addon, been using it for a while now. One thing I'm wondering though: Is it possible to remove the spark from the statusbars? I know there's currently no menu option for it, and I've been going through the .lua files but couldn't find anything that seemed related. Any ideas?
I'll be using this addon for a while.
