Overview

AlwaysLFG joins the LFG channel automatically.

Just install AlwaysLFG, and type "/join LookingForGroup" if you haven't already. From then on, AlwaysLFG will make sure that you're signed in to the LookingForGroup channel whenever possible.

Details

What exactly does AlwaysLFG do?

WoW requires you to be in an LFG queue in order to have access the LFG channel, but it's often nice to be able to see LFG messages even when you're not specifically looking for a group.

AlwaysLFG solves this problem by automatically adding you to the LFG queue for the first item in the "Zone" category, which is typically unused. AlwaysLFG will add you to this queue (a) when you first log in, (b) when you leave a group, and (c) when you type "/alfg join".

As a result, just about the only time you'll be out of the LFG channel is when you're in a group that is not using the LFM tool--and in that case, there's not much you can do about it anyway.

By the way, you can also type "/alfg leave" if you decide you'd like to leave the LFG channel.

How do I customize the LFG comment?

By default, AlwaysLFG sets your LFG comment to say that you're just listening to the LFG channel, so that people who see you in the LFG tool know that you're not actually looking for a group for that zone.

If you'd like to change this comment, type "/alfg config" and enter a new comment. You can set up separate profiles for different characters if you'd like to have a different LFG comment for different characters.

AlwaysLFG should now be compatible with WoW 3.2. All I did was bump the interface number in the TOC; if anybody finds any actual bugs, let me know.

Can we get this to put us in LFG when any person leaves a full group? In other words, I am still in the group (leader) with 4 other people. One leaves, it would be nice to auto-magically put us in LFG (just pick first zone). Thanks.

In the latest version, you can customize the comment via the options screen ("/alfg config"). You can also set up profiles for each of your characters if you'd like a different message for each character.

The default 'looking for group using Always LFG' is kind of non-descriptive. How can i set it up per toon to save a custom message?

This is an error in AceEvent. To fix it, download the latest version of Ace2 from here and install it as you would any normal addon. Then remove all Ace* folders from your Addons\AlwaysLFG\Libs folder

Will this list me as LFG for any instances, zones, etc? I know the purpose of the mod is just to let me read and chat on the LFG channel without clicking through the LFG UI everytime I relog, and that works. I'm just curious if there are side-effects and I'm being listed somewhere.

It'll put you in the first zone listed under the "Zones" section. This has the benefits of being both rarely used and available to every character, regardless of level.
