ArcHUD3
Help wanted: I'm no longer playing, so please help with creating Pull Requests on GitHub. If you are an author or programmer and if you are interessted in taking over this project, please let me know.
ArcHUD displays smooth arcs around your character in the middle of the screen to inform you about the health and power (mana, rage, ...) of you, your pet, and your target. In addition, it shows casts, combo points, holy power, soul shards, and a couple of other things. It discretely fades when you are out of combat and at full health/power.
This is a continuation of ArcHUD2 which managed to survive various patches... until the Cataclysm. Thanks to Nenie, the original author of ArcHUD2, for supporting me with this new version.
Please report any bugs or feature requests via the ticket system.
These arcs are currently supported:
- Health and power (mana, rage, focus, energy, runic power) for player, pet, target, and focus target
- Player's secondary power (Holy Power, Soul Shards, Chi etc.)
- Casting/channelling progress for player, target, and focus target
- Fatigue/breath (mirror timer)
- Combo points (including unconsumed combo points on previous target, e.g. on dead corpses)
- Custom (de)buff arcs: Ever wanted to keep track of the stacks and/or remaining times of some specific (de)buffs such as Evangelism, Savage Roar, Beacon of Light, Weakened Soul, etc? Then just create your own custom (de)buff arc for it!
In addition, some additional target information is displayed:
- Current target (name, class, guild, 3D model)
- Current (de)buffs on target
- Target-of-target and target-of-target-of-target
Small warning: Using this addon apparently bears a high risk of getting addicted to it, as these user comments suggest. I received those after taking over the development of ArcHUD when the Cataclysm happened:
- "...nothing ever quite matched the smooth, clean simplicity of ArcHUD's graceful rings."
- "Great job!! I've used this addon for years! None of the other HUDs come close to the functionality and elegance of ArcHUD."
- "Thanks for the work on it so far, much more lightweight than IceHud!"
- "Was staring at the various icehud/metahud alternatives with discomfort and sadness right after the patch [4.0]."
- "Awesome! Thank you so much for that miracle!"
- "Thank you so much for continuing this fantastic addon."
- "...nothing could compare to ArcHUD..."
- "For a whole 4years I had this mod and I missed it so much in the passed few weeks. I tried other HUD mods but they were too in my face >.< . Best HUD mod IMO! Thanks for resurrecting an old friend :D"
- "Loving the new ArcHUD my favorite HUD by far :)"
- "I don't think I could play wow without this addon :)"
- "I've actually grown kind of dependent on it because I'll occasionally run out of Mana/ die without this."
- "Hey mate, just came to thank You again for taking over this beauty, awesome job!"
- "THAT addon! So long I have been searching for a replacement when the development stopped, thanks for bringing it back to live!"
So use it at your own risk ;)
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I add a arc for a specific buff/debuff (remaining time & stacks)?
- Where is my Combo Point/Soul Shard Numeric Indicator?
Thanks alot, I cant play without this addon!
Hello,
thanks for wonderful revive of my favorite hud, but, do you think it is possible to add support for sPriest Shadow Orbs?
TY in advance
Yes, available with v2.1 beta 1. Sorry, already had it a while but forgot to commit it ;)
The current version of archud3 is somehow blocking challenge mode timers and objectives.
This is my favorite Hud Mod but I have one small annoyance:
For some reason, the movable frame does not remember that I want it to display below the arcs. Every log in, I have to tick then untick the option to have it display above the arcs for it to display below the arcs. When I log in, the movable frames appear on the middle-right of my screen. I submitted a ticket. Thanks for your time and this great mod!
Edit: dismiss, I was able to fix it by deleting the saved var and resetting up from scratch. It's now working properly!
Ok, thanks for the report and ticket anyway ;)
OMG, I was so happy to see someone continuing this addon. Was by far my favorite hud when I quit a couple of years back. So glad to have it back. It's everything my rusty brain remembers.
I do however have one request, if possible. Is there any chance you could add a GCD tracker to the cast bar, or something like that? My rotations with the new spell/talents/everything involve a lot of instant cast spells, so I find myself any more in the need to track the GCD lol
Thanks ;)
AFAIR, tracking the GCD is not easy since it needs some kind of reference spell. I do, however, plan to add custom cooldown rings in a future version (similar to the custom buff rings). There, you probably will be able to add an instant spell as a reference to show the GCD.
Feel free to add a ticket, though ;)
Could you add an option for Monk's Chi as combo points display, like warlocks shards for example? :-)
This is so not elegant, but I'll see to it ;)
Thanks!
Added in v2.0.3, will add color options in a later version. Please check if it works!
@cheeswiz
Ok, sounds like a reasonable request - some of those things I was thinking about before (in the context of DK's blood shield, for instance). Notifications as sounds or flashing stuff is certainly also nice-to-have.
But all of this would take some time. It would be cool if you opened a ticket with your last post, and I'll see what I can do. Winter is coming soon, so there might be more time for such things ;)
I have included pics of what i mean. if this is available through Floating Combat Text i apologize, however, i would like it in a bar in ArcHUD3 Instead of a 2nd addon. sorry for simplistic nature of picture text.
P.S. OH BTW If also if there is a way to add notifiers at certain Levels (time left on spell) of ArcHUD3 bars. Thx
Please add option to change a font. We have a ? signs on ru locale.
I changed the font in the latest release - is it still broken?
With ru locale I have errors like this one

If I rename enUS.lua to ruRU.lua and change font from FRIZQT__.TTF to FRIZQT__CYR.TTF in it, I still get ? signs.
Please specify which versions you are using (game client and addon). According to this it should work now.
I am using latest version of addon (v2.0.1 Date: 07.09.2012 3:01:28 Type: Release) and WoW client (5.0.4 16016). Maybe it will help: all addons with selected frizqt font have problem with ? signs. When I changed font to arial narrow in their options, all problem are gone. But when I changed font in ruRU.lua to ARIALN.ttf, I couldn't resolve problem.
P.S. I checked all addons that provide option to select font (Omen, Recount, VuhDo, DBM), they have same list of fonts. It would be nice if you added the same option.
Today I found problem solution for me: I found fritzqt font with cyrilics, renamed file to FRIZQT__CYR.TTF and put it in just created folder Fonts in WoW client.
