ArcHUD3
Help wanted: I'm no longer playing, so please help with creating Pull Requests on GitHub. If you are an author or programmer and if you are interessted in taking over this project, please let me know.
ArcHUD displays smooth arcs around your character in the middle of the screen to inform you about the health and power (mana, rage, ...) of you, your pet, and your target. In addition, it shows casts, combo points, holy power, soul shards, and a couple of other things. It discretely fades when you are out of combat and at full health/power.
This is a continuation of ArcHUD2 which managed to survive various patches... until the Cataclysm. Thanks to Nenie, the original author of ArcHUD2, for supporting me with this new version.
Please report any bugs or feature requests via the ticket system.
These arcs are currently supported:
- Health and power (mana, rage, focus, energy, runic power) for player, pet, target, and focus target
- Player's secondary power (Holy Power, Soul Shards, Chi etc.)
- Casting/channelling progress for player, target, and focus target
- Fatigue/breath (mirror timer)
- Combo points (including unconsumed combo points on previous target, e.g. on dead corpses)
- Custom (de)buff arcs: Ever wanted to keep track of the stacks and/or remaining times of some specific (de)buffs such as Evangelism, Savage Roar, Beacon of Light, Weakened Soul, etc? Then just create your own custom (de)buff arc for it!
In addition, some additional target information is displayed:
- Current target (name, class, guild, 3D model)
- Current (de)buffs on target
- Target-of-target and target-of-target-of-target
Small warning: Using this addon apparently bears a high risk of getting addicted to it, as these user comments suggest. I received those after taking over the development of ArcHUD when the Cataclysm happened:
- "...nothing ever quite matched the smooth, clean simplicity of ArcHUD's graceful rings."
- "Great job!! I've used this addon for years! None of the other HUDs come close to the functionality and elegance of ArcHUD."
- "Thanks for the work on it so far, much more lightweight than IceHud!"
- "Was staring at the various icehud/metahud alternatives with discomfort and sadness right after the patch [4.0]."
- "Awesome! Thank you so much for that miracle!"
- "Thank you so much for continuing this fantastic addon."
- "...nothing could compare to ArcHUD..."
- "For a whole 4years I had this mod and I missed it so much in the passed few weeks. I tried other HUD mods but they were too in my face >.< . Best HUD mod IMO! Thanks for resurrecting an old friend :D"
- "Loving the new ArcHUD my favorite HUD by far :)"
- "I don't think I could play wow without this addon :)"
- "I've actually grown kind of dependent on it because I'll occasionally run out of Mana/ die without this."
- "Hey mate, just came to thank You again for taking over this beauty, awesome job!"
- "THAT addon! So long I have been searching for a replacement when the development stopped, thanks for bringing it back to live!"
So use it at your own risk ;)
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I add a arc for a specific buff/debuff (remaining time & stacks)?
- Where is my Combo Point/Soul Shard Numeric Indicator?
Finally got an update out :) Now up to date for retail (10.1.7) as well as Wrath and Classic Era, all in one addon.
In reply to rookdorf: Thanks, @rookdorf, for the keeping the addon alive!
For anyone still using ArcHud and playing an Evoker, I 'made' a .lua for essence:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RBAUARNXAucK0Vy83kLcoNFVNK9NFoRq/view?usp=sharing
Place it in the the Rings subfolder within the ArcHUD3 folder. Then open Rings.xml in that same folder, and add:
<Script file="Essence.lua" />
somewhere. I placed it after the Stagger.lua line.
Alternatively, if you want to do the essence.lua yourself, all I did was make a copy of HolyPower.lua, renamed it to Essence.lua, then changed PALADIN to EVOKER on line 28, HolyPower to Essence on line 30, HOLY_POWER to ESSENCE on line 31, then the 3 to 6 on line 32 just so it wouldn't flash at all.
Edit-
Didn't see Rookdorf had made a pull request on github. Grab their version instead.
I just wanted to reach out and say THANK YOU! This is the best addon I have ever used. I have issues following things sometimes and can get lost in all the mess. This addon has made it clear and simple to see my health vs. my target's health, and everything else. I simply cannot thank you enough. Please keep up the good work. This is so very, very necessary. I could delete every other addon I've got, but never this one. May the Light favor you and keep you safe.

Hello! It's me again!
Do we have a Shadowlands update coming for everyone's favorite resource display?
In reply to TheLOOGE:
Yes, sir! It is now available (v6.0.1) on Github and WowInterface. As usual, it may take a while for Curse to show it.
In reply to nyyyr:
Thanks so much for continuing to support this addon. It's one of my must haves. It is appreciated.
In reply to nyyyr:
Bless you. Bless you bless you bless you.
For anyone wanting to use this on beta.
Copy your Archud3 from retail over to your interface/addons folder in Beta
edit your Frames.lua line 188 and remove all the lines below
f:SetBackdrop({bgFile = "Interface/Tooltips/UI-Tooltip-Background",f:SetBackdrop({bgFile = "Interface/Tooltips/UI-Tooltip-Background", tile = true, tileSize = 16, insets = { left = 4, right = 4, top = 4, bottom = 4 }}) f:SetBackdropColor(0,0,0,0.5)
and add in its place
CreateFrame("Frame", name, parent, "BackdropTemplate")
and thats it
A version for Classic is now available since yesterday (search for "ArcHUD3 Classic"). However, WowAce/CurseForge seem to take some time for approving new projects. Of you can't wait, you can download the Classic version from Github or WowInterface.
As always, please report bugs via Github Issue Tracker (see link above).
Enjoy!

Thank you!!! It is addon i using since 2007 and cant live without it :)
Having tested the add-on "IceHUD" as an alternative, I realized: this one is much simpler; more understandable and not so cluttered with “tons” of settings ... Please author, bring this add-on “to mind”! ... Do not force us to relearn on Ice HUD
Are there any plans on porting ArcHUD to the classic client? I've been using it since vanilla and would love to be able to keep using it in classic
In reply to Forge_User_50612249:
+1
Please bring the addon to mind! I do not understand the author and the support team ... Addon, practically the BEST of many! Yes, and ... I do not know how, but spread it to the masses: So that add-ons, with time, some, do not close! And then, you use some addon, and then it just stops updating!
first of all, u cant imagine how happy i was, when i found updated arcHUD searching for addons after prepatch
so TY and keep up the good work!
would have one question: can u make the icon on custom arc(buffs, debuffs/pet-arc) configurable
or rather how can i make it bigger?
Hey! I've used this addon for ages, and after version v4.2.3 this addon have a bug, fade option is working wrong on every version after v4.2.3, so the bug is - when u cancel auto attacks, addon fade arcs like he fade it when u have option "When full". So basically, v4.2.3 and earlier versions - when u cancel auto attack arc still standing as option "In combat", and he fades to "When full" only when u leave combat, because out of combat is the second for a priority option, and after v4.2.3 this option is bugged, and addon counting out of combat option when u just cancel autoattacks (or just press ESC). Same if you will just target some1 and will press autoattack, addon will pop fade option "In combat", even if youre not in combat (just by rightclicking on some1 and not hitting him won't put you in combat, but fade option work like youre in combat). Please fix that, I'm a biggest fun of that addon :)
think i found solution, at least on dummy it worked, new CombatStatus() in all versions after v4.2.3 seems broken, so i just tooked combat status from 4.2.3 which is :
and changed it in new version, worked for me
W00t thanks Nyyr, i luv this lil addon. its installed and working once again
