ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
At least, i had that trouble lots of times and it took me ages to get it fixed without knowing what the real solution was (tried a lot of things and I ended up reloading interface several times).
If you log in and the first opening of the bag places it on certain other windows, it will gray out and you cannot click anything in your bags at all.
But it does not happen to àll windows it may colapse with.
At least its failing with the addons SmartDebuff and HealBot.
But again: it only fails at the first opening of the bags.
If you opened them successfully, you can drag them anywhere, but log out and in when they are colapsing with certain screens, it will fail the next login.
Solution: drag the greyed out bags to a clear space, restart UI and it will be ok. :)
Hope this info helps.

Any ideas or fixes? It's driving me nuts, since sometimes it hides the LFG channel and I can't turn it back on...
the framelevel bug has never impacted the title frame (as far ive been able to test or been told) so the menu has always been available. you can also open blizzards addon menu interface and get it from there. (i presume people have some understanding of the ui basics)
i'd happily turn the option on by default but it lowers performance and people like to complain about that, if i leave it as it they complain about the bug - i cant win so i dont try any more.
my job is not to train you how to use the UI, thats your problem. and i dont actually care if people dont like the mod, its a personal choice, yours, not mine. enjoy the other mod, if it does what you want then thats all that matters.
I dunno if others did, but I certainly DID read the FAQ, which talks about this graying-out bug as follows:
There's a bug in the Blizzard CreateFrame API that's causing the FrameLevel for some of the elements to wrap around once they reach a certain level and they end up below the backgrounds level.
To fix it open the AI Configuration, on the System page (near the bottom) are a list of workarounds. Find the FrameLevel workaround and enable it.
If you don't want to enable the fix (which is graphically intensive as it has to reset the FrameLevel of all the AI elements every time they hit a certain level) you can reload the UI to see if that fixes it (it'll only be temporary though, it'll happen again).
This is pretty much meaningless to me. What is "AI Configuration"? If "AI" is shorthand for "Ark Inventory" and "AI Configuration" means the Config option you get when you right click Ark Inventory, well, that stops working when I get this error, so I can't do anything about it. If "AI Configuration" means anything else, this crappy FAQ fails to specify what it means.
And why put the supposed "fix" in whatever hard to find place it is? Enough people have complained about this problem right here in the comments, and the author has told them to go read the FAQ half a dozen times right here. It seems that for less effort, he could simply post the fix in the FAQ. Perhaps a detailed explanation of how to do it, with screengrabs to illustrate? But no, he didn't bother. He just tells people to read the FAQ, and to many people, including myself, the FAQ doesn't provide a solution either.
At any rate, while it is 90% less work to simply switch to another addon instead of trying to fix this broken piece of excrement, I think that's what many people will choose to do. That's what I did, switched to OneBag. It does exactly what I need, no fancy worthless extras. And it works.
a nice addition might be if it could store the guild vault tab that an item is stored in, rather than just saying "guild bank."
reading the faq would have given you the solution.
I'm getting errors when i log in with arkinventory installed and another error when i try to open it through the interface addon options, and this page itself is blank...i've even re-made an "addons" folder and just put arkinventory in there so it's the only addon im running and still it won't work...
I manually installed the addons how i do most addons, then i tried with the curse installer, and still it won't work

I would like to make a category for BOP blues and epics that are found by mobs. Can someone tell me the best way of achieving this? (Not soulbound Blues/Epics, only BOP) thank you :)
pt( categoryname) and quality( x ) and tooltip( bind on pickup )
something along those lines. i cant remember what blue quality is atm but you can look that up on the wiki
