ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Maybe you want to correct the default assignement of these items:
- Blackened Urn (id 24140:0:0): Quest
- Apexis Shard (id 32569:0:0): Quest
- Shadow Dust (id 32388:0:0): Quest
- Elixir of Shadows (id 32446:0:0): Potion/Quest
- Spirit of Zanza (id 20079:0:0): Potion (and maybe the other ZG potions too? didn't check)
- Everlasting Underspore Frond (id 28111:0:0): unsure
- Finkle's Skinner (id: 12709:0:0): Well, skinning ;)
- Charged Crystal Focus (id: 32578:0:0): unsure (the depleted version too, i guess: id 32576:0:0)
- Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole (id: 25978:0:0): Fishing
All of these are currently assigned to misc or soulbound.

i am not going to try an categorise every single item in the game. if blizzard dont class the item as quest and it's not in the PT quest set then just create a rule for it.
I really want to be able to use it, but trying to assign "Move all of this item to this slot" is too fiddley to use. I just spent 5 minutes trying to make all Recipes go to slot 3. I could not make slot selection window stay open long enough. Shame. :(
I cant understand what the function is of PT categorie. Please explain how I use it.
I must admit i did prefer the old method but I am slowly getting used to the new rules mechanism.
if the rules are too complex then all you have to do is create an "empty" rule, give it a name and leave the formula as false. stick that on a bar and then assign items to it as you would have assigned items to a custom category in 1.45
rules are only as difficult as you want to make them. the only functionality that has been removed in v2 is that you cannot assign items to the default categories.
once youre happy to learn the new functions then you can go in and customise the rules.
Rules sucks =/
2.01 works fine for me on the german client. Will you add something that I can also rearrange the "bars" also vertically. Because my inventory goes from the upper side of the screen to the lower.
OK, I've been using ArkInventory for a while now after upgrading from EngBags, and it's really awesome! =) That is, until 2.0. =( I actually reverted back to 1.45 because 2.0 was so much more confusing and hard to understand with regards to putting items into categories (now rules). I understand that rules may be a lot more powerful, but I would seriously consider hiding that power and complexity under an "advanced" menu or something for those that really want it, and continue having a user-friendly interface for assigning categories to items.
I installed this version and it totally ruined my bags. I get errors ARK_INV....nil value
Went back to 1.45 and its ok again.
the nk3 nil value error in 2.00 is fixed in 2.01
Hi there.. I absolutely love this mod, but I had one question/suggestion..
I noticed how under the Bars menu, you have an option for anchor points for the individual bars, but would it be possible to add an anchor point for the entire bag or bank window? So that when I move stuff around, rather than the window growing down and right, I can make it expand up and left?
I'm new to this mod but, have to say its one of the best bag mods out there by far, great work so far. Sorry if this has been asked before or is in the works but, Arkayenro, are you by chance planning on implementing a search into this mod? I have so much crap in my bags I would love to be able to have an option to search for exaclty what im looking for.
For text searching of items in inventory .. an old standby is the possessions mod.. fast, lightweight and stores data on every character you have .. you should be able to find it on all of the major mod sites.
For some reason i cannot access the rules menu. I really need to separate my trinkets from my armor. I'm a druid and have 3sets of armor and a bunch of different trinkets for each set. Any way to manually bring it up? It is grayed out for me.
-D
rules can be opened via the rule icon in the title bar or the rules choice off the main menu. if it's greyed out then you've probably got 1.45, only 2.00 beta has rules.
Just want to let you know, i love this addon. one of the few i label as essential :)
I noticed that the files listings don't say "Not complete" or not all whatever any more. Does this mean we have reached a point where the Beta version is something we can expect to test as a release candidate? I have been watching diligently for a RC or release. Thank you.
i was about to release it as a non-beta but found out that the rules werent actually global, i had them on the profile - so that got changed and if it works ok then i'll take it out of beta
