ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I've been gone for a while and can't remember what version I was using previously, but when I switched to the 2.08(c?), all of the sudden nothing was organized correctly. All the gear I had set aside in its own category is now mixed in with my random crap :( I've tried fiddling with the rules, but I've come across many problems with them.
outfit() : Doesn't actually do anything for me, in fact, it doesn't even let me save the function (I use ItemRack v. 1.991)
quality(3): Didn't grab about half the blues in my inventory, although it did get a good number of them
equip() : Missed half the gear in my inventory, all of which is soulbound.
I don't know, maybe it's just my stupidity that's making this a lot harder than it should be. I loved the old version, and the new one looks and sounds to have a lot of potential, I'm just doing something wrong. =/
2 small things.... and don't listen to all the flamers, I'm using it just as the old versions, just select edit, create a new rule/ add Item to rule... the only thing I noticed is that the name has changed and that u can if u WANT make it more complex with editing the rules a bit more... was cheking out the examples over at the site and it looks pretty simple, so here's my first problem...
When I go to the menu and select rules and then add I can type all the things in but nothing happends when I click on ok... the rule isn't saved and the window doesn't go away!
My second question is if there's anyway not to have the same rules in the bank and in the bag... for example I have a load off "festive stuff" in my bank that I just take out once a year, it might be a snowman kit or some candy bars and I really don't need that "empty" bar in my backpack! It would be great to have 2 different sets of bars and a "copy to bank/backpack" button for the ones u wanna use in both places!
"When I go to the menu and select rules and then add I can type all the things in but nothing happends when I click on ok... the rule isn't saved and the window doesn't go away!"
odd, if theres an error in the rule its supposed to popup an error message. what if you just leave it at "false" for the foruma? can you save it then? can you post the formula you were trying to add?
"My second question is if there's anyway not to have the same rules in the bank and in the bag..."
sorry, nope, rules are global, you can enable/disable them per profile. you're only choice would be to turn off "use global settings" to break up all the windows, then assign categories in the bank (the bag gets the "global" settings so they'd stay the same)
This is my favourite bag mod. C'mon people, the rules aren't difficult to figure out and give you so much flexibility to place stuff where you want it. I have one request for the author - could we please have a find function like bagnon has - it would be very handy for when something's just gone into my bags but I can't find it easily because I'm not sure what it looks like.
I am not going to flame or anything here, this addon are very good but sitting here 9.00 on the morning and trying to figure out how to make custom categories/rules are not what you would call fun and easy wow exp.
Is it not possible to provide it already with most basic rules built in? For stuff like resist gear, own bars for rings/trinkets etc? Just as it was in v1.3 (the one that i found on my pc) where you could just make custom category and bind wanted items to it with few mouse clicks instead of rule making/editing. At that time addon could be used by more or less anyone and now you need to spend way more time to figure things out.
Still this is great stuff if you have the time to make rules but i am going to stick to old version as long it works.
@Arkayenro
Thanks... that worked fine.
How do you change an items rules? I have a section for PvP and one for DPS... due to some new items i have got I want to put one of the DPS items into the PvP section..... thing is that BOTH the rules are on teh same item... and i can not seam to see how to remove one of those rules from that item....
How do I REMOVE custom rules from an item?
if it's a rule then you need to open the rules window, find the rule you don't want it in, edit it and remove the bit that includes it, most likely an id() function - which means you need to know the id of the item (which you can get via the edit mode debug info)
Sweet thanks. Your a life saver :)
And thanks again for all your work on this. Makes playin more fun.
Im getting an error, and its not working...
" Interface\AddOns\ArkInventory/ArkInventory.lua:2087: attempt to perform arithmetic on field 'order' (a nil Value) "
Help ... save me from the stock bags...
2.08b should have a fix for this but it would appear that one of your rules is missing an order number for some reason?
you can currently get 2.08b from googlecode (exact link is in the readme.txt file) or wait until tonight when i can upload it everywhere else - there are some other bug fixes i wanted to add before posting it so i was only going to upload 2.08c instead
Bug report: Holding Shift when hovering over an equipable item should show your currently equipped item. To get this to work in AI, you have to hold shift as you roll over the item. Please make it so shift displays/hides on keydown/up, regardless of mouse movement.
Feature request: I've got all my empty bag slots hidden to conserve space. Sometimes I need to click and drag something into my bags though. Could you make it so that dragging an item onto the titlebar of AI, or into unused blue space perhaps, would find a space for it, and put it there?
Thanks for the update -- it was killing me having to manually click refresh all the time!
i'm fixing the tooltip code at the moment (noticed it myself)
Is it possible to lock the bag and bank frame?
Can I be the first to say w00000000000000000t?!?!?!?
I tried out a few bag mods, was unimpressed with how much HARDER it became to extract any sensation of sanity from the big mess most mods made of my bags. Until I found AI, with virtual bags, of course.
When I finally stumbled into AI, it was already 2.07(a?) and I was sad that it was so hard to create rules for individual itemIDs just to get things where they really ought to be, and that it sounded like you'd done away with much better functionality.
Now, we have the best of both worlds! A rule for my outfit() items, and assignable categories for my Large Brilliant Shard! I was just lucky enough to see it FIRST on curse, under the updated downloads box!
Well, let me be the first to say, Arkayenro, there are a LOT of happy people out there today. :) Keep up the good work!
Excuse my faulty english, bue I've done an awful thing... UPDATED TO 2.07a
All cached data from 1.45 were erased.. great start...
First : I've lost almost all of my presets, of my items, the default assignement was totaly wrong, I LOST most of my changes with the update.
Second : many features are missing :
One awesome feature I'll miss with the old version is the green frame that you have add to the new version, showing easyly were the item are.
So please, please... add your wonderfull new features to the old version, and don't take the good things out, as you just do with your new Version 2.0....
One of the big feature would be to add a 'search' field, enlighting items in realtime just as you type...
So, big deal with the new 2.07a version, I've installed it to fast, I've lost everything rolling back to old version... I have to re-set again all my presets.
Poor me, 1.45 was so good !
BTW ... I agree with Thanosrod
Hi there !! Anyone know how I can turn OFF "Compress and Restack" Im used to put my stuff at a special spot in my bag. But ArkInventory keeps moving it around. Possible to change it?
-Cheers
um, don't click on it? compress and restack is a manual choice and it's the only time that AI will actually move an item.
oh and for those that liked the categories in 1.45 and didn't like the rules in 2.xx, i found a way to add them back.
rules are still there and any custom or pt categories will get converted into a rule but your items will retain the categories you have in 1.45 when upgraded.
(btw, it only converts them properly if you go from 1.45 to 2.08 so don't upgrade to a 2.xx version until that one gets released)
This is just what I was looking for! Works like a charm, me love you long time! Merlene-Twisting Nether!
