ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Is there an option to make the warband bank a separate window? or a toggle button between normal bank and warband bank? It's already getting cumbersome not being able to right click items into the warband bank
In reply to FallenBytes: I came here to say the same thing, and i see other are on the same wave length.
What would be nice over all is a separate tab for the warbank, and then that opens up like the guildbank
In reply to FallenBytes: no, its a single blizzard window so i cant make it two arkinventory windows.
you can right click on the bag icons in the changer to show/hide/isolate specific bags. im adding an option so you can hide all the bank bags in one go so you can swap more easily between the different banks
In reply to Arkayenro: That's perfect! like the aforementioned toggle button, just some way that we can choose the destination (bank or warbank) when right clicking items out of our bags would be very helpful
Does anyone know what happened to the 'bind on equp' system assignable category. I see warbound stuff added but can't find a bind on equip general category. I'm using the alpha which cleared up a lot of the problems.
In reply to liferlock: it should be the "equipment" category
In reply to Arkayenro: That did the trick! I don't know why I didn't notice it. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the addon I can't live without.
Will there be an update soon?
In reply to 7500xOoss: switch to the alpha versions

In reply to stoned_assassins: use the latest alpha version
Have anybody the same problem that you cant create a new custom category? If I try there only show up an empty window.
In reply to ArcticWolf: thats working for me. are you using the latest alpha?
did you use config > settings > custom categories, or right click on an item in edit mode?
In reply to Arkayenro: I downloadet the latest/newest Version... and both methods not working... maybe I should reinstall the Add On and try it again
In reply to ArcticWolf: make sure you have the alpha version
In reply to Arkayenro: Thanks for your response. I installed the lates alpha build (ArkInventory-3.10.33-alpha-26) If I right click on an Item to create a new Category I got this Lua Error ( I disabled all other Addons to test ArkInv.) Same Happens if I Open the Config:

Hello. I've started using the Alpha version as advised, but is it normal behaviour that after an update of an alpha version one gets the message that bags, bank/reagent bank data has been erased for all characters? Not the currency data btw. After I updated to Alpha first time and got this message (which showed erased currency data at the time too), I repopulated the data by logging on each char and opening their banks/bags, but not sure if I'll have to do it every time I log in, or only when a new release of Alpha goes live? Haven't had that on the release version of course, hence the supposition it's an "alpha" thing.
its per version. you login, the data is erased (if needed), and it wont be erased again until the next version is installed.
alpha versions have a lot of changes that are iffy so they can need the data to be erased more often
in this case the bag/bank/reputation data was erased as those changed. the reagent bag, reagent bank, account bank, and account reputation were split out of the primary locations so the data needed to be erased.
there was also an issue with the data erase code around alpha 21-23 and had to erase the bag and bank data again (as it wasnt doing it properly) or it would have generated errors.
In reply to Arkayenro: Understood, thank you for the detailed reply. Hopefully blizz will soon fix the warband bank and related issues so you can do a stable release version of this lovely addon.
