AVR
Note: AVR will be broken in patch 3.3.5. See this
AVR (Augmented Virtual Reality) allows you to draw and add lines, circles and other markings on the 3D world itself. All markings may also be shared with others. Suitable for example to mark locations when explaining raid tactics. These marks can even be left visible for the fight itself.
Other things you can do with AVR:
- Draw range circles around you or someone else at any range
- Clearly mark players close to you
- Mark any location relative to player position and rotation, for example mage blink landing spot
- Measure distances
- Boss encounter warnings (using a separate addon)
Boss encounters
AVR does not contain a built in boss encounters module anymore. They are now done by a separate addon. At the moment there are two options.
- AVR Encounters adds AVR warnings for various boss abilities. It does not require any other boss encounter addon to work. It is not a replacement for traditional boss encounter addons as it does not do ability timers, sound warnings etc. It can be used with any traditional boss encounter addon such as BigWigs, DBM or DXE.
- Raid Watch 2 is a full boss encounter addon much like BigWigs, DBM or DXE. It has built-in support for AVR and also does timer bars and other kinds of warnings.
Whichever you choose to use, you will also need to install AVR.
Important note: If you have installed a previous version of AVR which contained the AVR BigWigs module then you should delete that. Simply delete your Interface\Addons\AVR_BigWigs_Citadel folder.
Limitations and known issues
There are some fundamental limitations caused by what information is available to addons. These are mostly related to the exact position of camera and lack of unit Z coordinates. In particular you should note following:
- Drawing works best on a flat surface (note that for example Dalaran has very uneven roads).
- Camera getting stuck in a wall or ceiling will cause any markings to go out of sync with rest of the world.
- Any kind of stairs/slopes and such cause troubles.
- Jumping and other kinds of vertical movement causes the drawings to move with you.
- Everything is drawn over the 3d world. This means that things that should be behind walls or units will appear in front of them.
- Camera auto follow causes some problems. See also this
Some other known issues are:
- All vehicles (like the ones at the start of Ulduar) are a bit problematic.
- Lifts, moving platforms and in particular Gunships in Icercown Citadel raid have some problems.
- Player map coordinates are unavailable in Icecrown Citadel raid on Lich King platform after the edges have collapsed. This means that any markings tied to zone coordinates or other players than yourself are unusable there. (Lana'Thel's room was fixed in 3.3.3 though the ramps leading there are still a bit odd.)
- Player map coordinates are also not available in arenas or instances released before Wrath of the Lich King and so most things don't work in either of those.

I guess I'll have to get the PTR client and see what's going on but Blizzard intentionally blocking it seems like a possible cause here. I can only post in European forums and there doesn't seem to be any blue posters ever confirming anything there so if one of you wants to post in the US ui or ptr forums go ahead.
well other cvars like processaffinity mask return real values
I bet its intentional.
Just a heads up: AVR appears to have been disabled in 3.3.5. Various cvars now return nil, including cameraPitchE, cameraDistanceE, and cameraYawE. We're not sure if it's intentional, but that's likely. I don't know if you want to shoot a post over to Blizzard asking if it's intentional or not.
FluidFrames seems more likely to conflict with AVR than Portfolio. Might be possible that it messes with some frame AVR needs. I played around with it a bit but couldn't get any errors though you can mess up AVR graphics by moving or scaling the AVR frame. If you didn't already try it you could try deleting the fluid frames settings. Delete the file WTF/Account/accountname/realm/charname/SavedVariables/FluidFrames.lua.
Allara: I've posted my error already, it's still on the front page and the author saw it...I was replying to them.
olog: yeah, I did. It gives me the nil value error that I posted below, always the same one and it only comes up once, then I get no error and nothing happens. (edit) oh, I had fluidframes on with it. If I disable fluidframes, the only thing I have port for, it works again...
I'm thinking perhaps I might've hid something with fluidframes? Some layer of the interface on accident that AVR uses, do you know what that could be? All I have that uses portfolio is fluidframes. I've tried 'resetting' all moved frames and it didn't help though. It's all I can think of since I have portfolio enabled on my pally and there's no conflicts.
I installed portfolio myself and AVR is working for me. Did you try with only AVR and Portfolio enabled?
Zomgname: You should post the error(s) you were seeing. Authors don't have time to test every addon conflict without your help.
I tried clearing my saved variable files and it did not fix the problem of the mod working on my mage. Neither did completely deleting AVR/AVRE, clearing all variables, re-downloading fresh and reinstalling. I wasn't able to test the encounters part in a raid, but while sitting in dal trying to do scenes with /avr edit I kept getting and error or nothing happened at all. After disabling all addons I was able to draw on the screen again. So I started re-enabling one by one and as soon as I turned on Portfolio it messed up. I disabled it and turned on everything else and AVR still worked. The moment I turned Portfolio back on, it broke again.

There is a link to it. Again, I wasn't able to test encounters, this was just the drawing portion.
I have Portfolio on on my paladin and it still works fine... I don't understand. Portfolio is needed for FluidFames to work.
i could see Routes using this as real world route lines rather than minimap lines
oh btw i saw someone make a crossover addon with Bloodqueen
the only implication i could see to this that i dont like is that people could make a mod that draws lines to pvp opponents in arena and bgs with colors that change based on range
So you are already adding a unique zone identifier so your 10 man items don't show up in 25 man and vice versa?
Great mod btw:)
It would be possible to make an addon where you only had to enter the names of the healers and the addon would do the rest. Or an addon could even scan talents of everyone in raid and do it completely automatically. That's however a new addon that uses AVR. I won't add those in AVR itself. If anyone is interested feel free to make such an addon.
At the moment you have to remove, or just make invisible, scenes you don't want to see. With new version, new scenes should by default be restricted to your current zone and dungeon level. Such scenes will then be invisible when you change zone or dungeon level.
Raid leader or anyone else can't remove scenes from others. The original sender can only update the scene by sending it again. So as a workaround you can uncheck the visible toggle and then resend the scene which will then make the scene invisible for others but not remove it completely. I'll probably improve this a bit in next version.
Hi Guys. Used this addon for the first time in ICC last night, after persuading my guild to give it a try for the trickier encounters. Just have to say that this addon is an absolute godsend, and I forsee it being one of the "must-have" addons alongside Recount, Omen and Deadlybossmods.
Anyway, to my question. Is there currently a way for the raid leader (or raid assistant) to clear everyone's scenes in the raid group? Last raid we had 4 people creating and editing scenes with the addon, and in the end it became a little messy so everyone had to manually remove all of the scenes that had been shared with them in order to see the one that was going to be used for the fight.
Or is it just a case of making sure everyone uses the /avr edit command and deletes the scenes they dont want?
Thanks.
