BetterQuest
BetterQuest provides an improved quest tracker, and enhances the blizzard quest log.
If other people in your party are using BetterQuest, FuBar_QuestFu, or anything else that uses the LibQuixote-2.0 library, it'll display their quest status.
It can automatically track quests when you get near them, play sounds when you complete quests, and do other wild and wacky things.
Is this still being looked after? I would like to make a request, if you could get this to hide in BGs, that would be swell.
@Znuff
Yours is the third comment I've seen (including mine below) making mention of the current hard to see "click to complete" blue recoloring of quest tracker headers. The Curse comment about it: "This addon seems to block the auto-complete quest popup that comes up for certain new post-shattering and cataclysm quests. It's rather annoying and I'm gonna quit using it for now."
The major game-breaking problem with it I've experienced on continued usage: the fact that if you minimize quests into a zone header in the BetterQuest tracker, you will never see a "click to complete" indication for any of those quests.
So hopefully the "click to complete" functionality of this can be improved sometime.
Thanks for this wonderful replacement of FuBar_QuestsFu!
The only part of this addon I'm not using is the interesting quest-tracker, and here's why:
Thanks for reading.
and there isnt any problems the auto complete quests do turn blue in tracker if you click the blue writing youll get your complete quest come up to collect.
On this note the only problem i have and i cant see anywhere to change it is the progress text is showing down the bottom where my action bars are which is annoying does anyone know how to move it thanks in advance
Done extensive CPU testing on this and it uses little to none.
I (always) read the changelogs; I know the coloration/clicking was added in r192. The problem here was that the alert is invisible (and remains invisible) when you have the headers for a zone minimized in the tracker. When they are minimized, nothing changes color and nothing is alerted to. And as noted by Nirek below, when the quests are for some reason (option settings or otherwise) not listed in the tracker, you won't get any completion alerts either.
This is unlike the Blizzard tracker; even if you aren't tracking a certain quest, you still get the "click to complete" large popup, no matter what.
The text coloration/clicking is nice. But its still too easy to miss non-NPC quest completions in general with BetterQuest as it is now.
I was wondering about the autoquest thing too, would have never have noticed it unless it was mentioned, just a bad meshing with the options I have set I think, with hide completed objectives the quests poof off the tracker entirely, so it gives no indication at all, blue or otherwise.
Maybe an extended option to force it to display autocomplete quests?
Edit: Looking closer, it's more likely the remove completed from AutoTrack module that's poofing it for me.
If it's already in the options somewhere and I missed it, please point it out. :)
Zidomo: It's been there since r192. When a quest can be completed remotely the header turns blue and it gets the same "click to complete" text that the blizzard tracker gets. If you click it it behaves just like the blizzard tracker does when you click it. Only difference is that there isn't that huge shiny thing at the top.
Well, that turn-in-quest-indicator supposedly in BetterQuest is either not present or barely visible.
v2, WoW 4.0.3a live (with Cata), disable the default Blizzard tracker through BetterQuest. Complete a quest that (for sure) can be completed "anywhere", nothing in the BetterQuest tracker changes. Have to reenable the default Blizzard quest tracker (and relog) to get a visible complete-anywhere alert for the quest.
Consequently, can't use the BetterQuest tracker anymore. As the tracker is one of the top attractions of this mod, it really puts a dent in the viability of it.
Would it be possible to introduce an option to switch the quest item icon in the tracker from the left side to the right?
There is in the alphas. I'll go make a new release, I suppose, since cata hits soon.
