BetterQuest

Table of Contents

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

BetterQuest provides an improved quest tracker, and enhances the blizzard quest log.

If other people in your party are using BetterQuest, FuBar_QuestFu, or anything else that uses the LibQuixote-2.0 library, it'll display their quest status.

It can automatically track quests when you get near them, play sounds when you complete quests, and do other wild and wacky things.

Is there in an indicator if you can turn the quest in anywhere (this new thing with 4.0.3a)?

Does Betterquest exclaim "Job's done" after completing a quest like QuestFu does? That was one of the mainreasons I was using questfu.

Apparently there is a new way to turn in certain quests. Examples found thus far are:
Eastern Plaguelands ~ Enter the Flames
Badlands ~ The Warden's Game, The Sentinel's Game, and the Ancient Protectors

I have just starting using this in place of QuestsFu, however I miss is being able to set a maximum height for the tracker and then using my mousewheel to scroll up and down the list. It seems BetterQuest just expands the list depending on how many quests you're tracking. Is there any chance of adding this feature in?

The only thing I'd really like to see added is a maximum height parameter like QuestsFu had (with a scrollbar when there are too many quests to display at once).

Also going to agree, I loved having the scroll bar for when I was leveling up. I had way to many quests and it bloated my screen.

The manual install package, and the one you get from Curseclient with libraries included download are missing AceTimer-3.0 library required by the Autotracker module.

I've found a major performance issue with BQ that I'd really like to see fixed, since I like BQ a lot more than the default tracking system.

The "Show quest items" option causes an extreme framerate drop for me. When I turn it on, my framerate drops more and more with each item that's displayed. With 1 item displayed I drop from 100 fps to ~45 fps, while with 4 items displayed I hover at ~15 fps.

This can be tested by picking up several quests which have items to use (the dailies from the Horde airship in Icecrown work well), enabling the "Is tracked" option in the Filters tab, disabling the AutoTrack module for BQ, and selectively turning tracking on and off for the quests that have items.

My guess is that BQ may be accidentally re-rendering the icons in a constant loop, but that's just a theory based on my very limited knowledge of how addons work.

Since I couldn't get Fubar_QuestsFu to work on my Rogue and my Priest, I decided to give BetterQuest a try. Guess what? LibQixote is not loading correctly too - it throws the exact same error I posted on the QuestFu page. I don't understand why those 2 toons only? They use identical addons as all the others, where QuestFu works without problems. Maybe you have an idea.

Reading the tickets on LibQuixote pointed me in the right direction: Both toons have quests from Hellfire Bulwark in their log - and for some reasons those quests miss the header which seems to be a Blizz problem. LibQuixote probably tries to index using the header and voila error.

Filters don't seem to be working properly. For example, I can't filter out group quests from appearing on the tracker.

Same and more if you test. This release is hardly a release for Cata. And more of a alpha given the extensive bugs abounding. Hopefully the author is attentive and fixes it to being as it should soon =)

If you are such a perfect guy why not publish your own perfect quest-addon? The author probably has other things to do too - if you don't like what he is giving you FOR FREE go away.

Very easy to be a pompous twit over the net. I do suggest better form next time. As my comment was directed at a add-on. Not a person. However, seems you are more perfect than myself. And I do develop add-ons .. of which you are free to test and comment on. Titan Panel : Raid ID's (unreleased just yet .. but should have it up this month sometime)and a alpha of Druidia (A druid companion add-on). Not to mention my now defunct add-on Guild Mailbox. Which btw was one of the first mass mailers. Not the best coder. My comment was simply wishing the best to the add-on and its maker. -eh-
