Overview
Blood Shield Tracker is an addon to track the value of the Death Knight Blood Shield. It can show bars for the following items:
- The current Blood Shield value (when Blood Shield is up).
- The estimated heal of a Death Strike or the Blood Shield value.
- The current Power Word:Shield value on the player.
- The current and maximum health of the player.
Blood Shield Bar
- Appears when Blood Shield is up and shows the current shield value.
- Updates the current value of the Blood Shield. It provides both an absolute value and a percent of the remaining shield value. With stacking Blood Shields, the maximum and percent values are less useful but it might be interesting for some people so I left that option. The current value is key thing to use.
- Disappears when the Blood Shield buff ends.
Estimate Bar
- Predicts the size of the Death Strike heal or Blood Shield based.
- The user can configure if the bar predicts the Death Strike heal or Blood Shield value.
- The bar can be configured to show the estimated value as a percentage of maximum health instead of the absolute value.
Bone Shield Bar
- Shows the current number of Bone Shield charges, time left on the buff, or the time until Bone Shield is usable again.
Power Word: Shield Bar
- Shows the current value of the Power Word: Shield on you. It is shown when a shield is on you and hidden when no PW:S is on you.
- By default this bar includes the Divine Aegis shield too. You can disable that in the options if you wish though.
- It is fully configurable just like the other bars.
Total Absorbs Bar
- Shows the total of various absorbs on you. It includes the following absorb types and you can configure which ones you want included:
- Blood Shield
- Power Word: Shield
- It is fully configurable just like the other bars.
AMS Bar
- Provides a bar to track the remaining absorb from Anti-Magic Shield.
- It is off by default and needs to be enabled first.
Health Bar
- Provides a health bar to make monitoring your health easier. Based on your UI setup, you may find this very useful to keep near the other Blood Shield Tracker bars and your rune addon of choice.
- It is off by default and needs to be enabled first.
- It is fully configurable and has an option to change color based on a user-set threshold.
LDB / Minimap Data
The LDB or minimap icon provides a tooltip with some statistics for your Blood Shields. The following statistics are provided for the session and for the last fight:
- The total number of blood shields.
- The number of shields refreshed. This is the number that are re-applied before the previous shield was removed (i.e., stacking).
- The number of removed shields.
- The minimum, maximum, and average shields maximum/starting values. The maximum value is the full, initial value of the shield.
- The total amount absorbed by the shields, the total value of all shields, and percent of the shields used. This lets you see how much of the shields were used to absorb damage.
In addition, for the last fight it provides:
- The duration of the fight.
- The average number of seconds between Blood Shields (or successful Death Strikes).
The LDB can be configured to use a shorter label and can also set a data feed to display values such as the last Death Strike, last Blood Shield, and the Estimate Bar value.
Options
Blood Shield Tracker provides several configuration options. It also supports LibSharedMedia so fonts and textures loaded there can also be used. It also provides full support for profiles.
You can change the following:
- If the minimap button is shown. The addon also provides an LDB data feed.
- Whether a bar is shown.
- If a bar is locked and cannot be moved.
- The width, height, and scale of the bars
- The font, font size, and font options of the text on the bars
- Whether the background/bar is shown or just the text.
- The color of each bar and bar text, including setting the minimum and optimal heal colors.
- The texture to use for each bar.
- Whether a bar has a Blizzard-style border around it.
- The format of the text on a bar.
Skinning
Blood Shield Tracker provides support for skinning. In particular, it will match the look and feel of ElvUI and Tukui. There are settings in the configuration to control it selectively. By default, it will override the textures, font, and borders of the bars to match the UI. The user will just need to position the bars to where he or she would like them. If you do change the Skinning settings, you will need to reload the UI since the changes are only made when the addon loads.
If you need to access the configuration but cannot find it, you can always type /bst in a chat window.
Hi, love this addon, but since 6.0.2 it's simply not doing anything. I've updated to the latest version, and I can get into the menu, but the blood shield bar isn't appearing when I death strike a mob. Tried the bone shield bar too, and again it just doesn't appear.
I've enabled the config mode and checked the positions, and they're all where I left them. They're just not doing anything.
I haven't seen any major issues like that. Have you tried disabling all the other addons? Worst case, you could try deleted the settings for the addon and starting over. If you have the latest version, it should work.
Deleting and reinstalling the addon fixed it for me :)
Hi I just downloaded this addon and are trying it out, but so far I can't seem to find out how to anchor the bone wall bar to the bone shield bar. I can't chose the bone shield bar from the drop down list, and when using the custom alternative it seems I cant anchor any bar to another. Am I doing something wrong or is that just not possible. One thing I would like to see would be if you added both the bone shield bar and the bone wall bar to the drop down list.
Edit: seems you cant chose the blood charge or purgatory ones either. How do you do if you want to achor one of the bars to them?
Hi, that was an oversight. All of the bars should be available as anchors. I fixed it in an alpha I just uploaded. If you aren't sure how to get alpha versions, you can find the latest alpha here:

Let me know if you have any other issues or questions.
Great addon, really like it and its being really helpfull to me, but since last update, my blood shield tracking disapeared :( The extimaded healing and the bone shield bars still work, but the one i need the most is the blood shield tracking bar. Any way i can make it shows it again? Interface > addons > Blood Shield tracker > blood shield bar> ENABLE is marked, but it doesnt show :/
Anyway, thank you very much for this addon, really helpfull!
Juliana
Hi Juliana,
There are three types of settings that could possible cause trouble:
If none of those settings help, you can find the configuration file here:
<WoW Folder>\WTF\Account\<Account Name>\SavedVariables\BloodShieldTracker.lua
If you can send me that in a private message, I can look at it and help you fix the problem.
I've been trying to figer out how the "alternate minimum" works. I'm prosuming that 0 set it to the default amount (how ever much that is), but how does things above 0 work? Is it the blood shield amount or the heal or what, cause playing around with it on 20k with the minimum "blood shield" doing 18-19k shields makes me think that if the est. says 20k+ the bar would go green but it stays red till i do 50k+ blood shield.
The alternate minimum should be the point at which the bar turns from red to green. Whether it is matching the user-set value to the Blood Shield or Death Strike Heal should depend on the mode since you select what value that bar tracks.
It only works with the estimate value though and it ignores the minimum blood shield at that point so you need to be hit fairly hard for it to trigger. With Scent of Blood, the minimum is boosted so you can see decent sized blood shields without the estimated value being as high.
I added the functionality a while ago when someone requested it. I don't use it myself but it should work properly. As it is setup, testing it requires lager than minimum hits for the most part.
I set three thresholds on Alternate Minimum: 1000, 10000 and 100000. Run the tests on the dummy for tankers and the bar didnt turn green. I managed to build many Death Strikes Heal between 33k (min) and 258k (max) and didnt work. The feature was removed? Something broke? Sorry for my english.
The paladin talent "sacred shield"(spell ID 20925 main spell, & spell ID 65148 for the actual absorb) is not being tracked in the total absorbs.
I'll add that to the absorbs list.
The Bone Wall Bar does not seem to show on the UI when I enable it.
The Bone Wall Bar bar works for me. If the obvious ideas like check that it is enabled (in the addon options) and you are wearing two pieces of T16 tank gear do not work, let me know and we could check your settings file.
Great addon, but it changes my enemy health bars from my tidy plates and doesn't seem to have a way to be disabled from doing so, I have Tidy Plates set up to show a few things so that I know what is on who but this is messing with that...
Otherwise great addon, just finished setting it up to how I want it.
Blood Shield Tracker doesn't have any interaction with Tidy Plates. I'd would check that you have the latest version of Tidy Plates. The only way Blood Shield Tracker would affect the Tidy Plates UI would be a library issue. I haven't used TIdy Plates in a while but I never had a problem with running both in the past.
Nice little addon, though I will say that there is a problem with its interacting and playing nice with the TukUi interface. It causes the entire TukUi interface to be screwed up and cause a UI error when both addons are running at the same time. I'm not sure if this is something you could fix on your end or if its somethign that both have to be fixed to use.
Unfotunately I can't get the programs to run at the same time right now to post the error that I keep getting when the two run simultaniously. Keeps locking up WOW from logging in.
I checked and had no problems running Tukui 15.16 and Blood Shield Tracker 0.26. Try updating your addons and only running Tukui and Blood Shield Tracker. You probably have an older addon and some library conflicts.
Great Addon! It was working fine, but out of nowhere my bar dissappeared that tracked the blood shield. I have messed with everything and just can't seem to get it back! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, did you check if it is loaded? It is possible some addon conflict has disabled it. You can look for the minimap icon, LDB icon, or see if it shows up in the Addon options (from the game menu or type /bst in a chat window).
In the options, there is an expandable menu that should be open and have "Blood Shield Bar" in the list. If you click that, the options there have an Enabled checkbox. I'd check that too.
If all the basic stuff looks ok, you can either send my the config file or you could try resetting the config.
To reset the config, under options click on Profiles (on the left hand side) and there is a "Reset Profile" button. Clicking that should discard any changes and give you a fresh configuration. I'd reload or restart right after that and see if it is ok. You'll need to adjust the config again to place bars where you like and such. You could also back up your old config if you copy the file below somewhere. You could copy that file back if you changed your mind after the reset.
If you want to send me the config file I can try to see if anything is wrong. The file you need is in the WoW folder in this location:
<WoW Folder>\WTF\Account\<Account Name>\SavedVariables\BloodShieldTracker.lua
