Bloodhound2
IMPORTANT NOTE: The latest updates (2.0.3 and 2.0.4) changed some of the settings. Not everyone will encounter errors, however if you do, please exit the game and delete the "bloodhound2.lua" and "bloodhound2.lua.bak" files from the SavedVariables folder and reinstall the addon. If you still encounter the error after doing this please file a ticket on the wowace site. Additionally versions prior to 2.1.0 (r17) will not work properly in Pandaria after the release of patch 5.4 because of additions of new zones.
This is a continuation of Osmium's original Bloodhound (his last version can be found: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/bloodhound). I decided to take over the project (with his permission) because I hated how clunky the other gathering addons were and I wanted something that was lightweight but also found the best route for me. Bloodhound was perfect, but by the time I got around to using it, the Author stopped updating it. If you have any concerns/bugs/feature requests for this addon, please file a ticket on the WowAce portal.
Bloodhound/Bloodhound2 Description: If you have Find Herbs or Find Ore switched on, this add-on displays a red arrow on the minimap. Follow it and it will lead you to herb/ore nodes. Potential node locations show as red gems on the minimap. They're transparent so that you can see actual nodes.
The arrow points in the direction of "net pull" exerted by the nodes. The longer you go without visiting a node, the stronger it pulls. Once you visit it, the pull drops back to zero and the arrow points somewhere else. This will eventually lead you everywhere, but it's a dynamically updating system, responding to where you go automatically. Closer nodes pull more strongly, so it favors nearby clusters of nodes. If you choose to ignore the arrow and go somewhere else, the arrow will adjust to your new location which means you're not on a fixed track.
This mechanism is more efficient than a fixed route that visits all nodes in order, and also allows easy cross-zone farming.
The add-on is configurable in the Interface menu under Add-ons / Bloodhound2. It allows you to select whether the cross-zone feature is enabled Never, While Flying, or Always. It lists the zones in the current continent and lets you select which zones to include for the cross-zone feature. If that's disabled, it ignores nodes outside the current zone. It also lists the herbs and ore available on the current continent and lets you select the one's you're interested it. Unchecked node types don't exert any pull or show any indicator on the mini-map.
Hope you update this addon...Its awesome and makes farming mats go by so fast...Be lost without it
Thank you for this great add-on! Please update to 6.0.2. This is my go-to addon for farming and obtaining mats to level profession.
Currently not functional in 6.0.2, please update!
Looks like as of 6.0.2 this addon is out of date and unusable. Any ETA on when or if it will be updated?
I cant make the arrow apear, i dont know what im doing wrong.
I tried deleting "bloodhound2.lua" and "bloodhound2.lua.bak" and deleting the entire folder from the addon section and then re instaling and it still dosnt show.
what am i doing wrong?
Hmm... I can't seem for the life of me to make it work. The red arrow just isn't showing! I tried turning off all addons but this, and still it doesn't show up at all... I tried doing a fresh install, and yes, my "track minerals" is on.
It is not working with ElvUI? Can't get anything on radar. No gems or red arrow.
I can't seem to get it to work..?
Okay, so the problem is;
I follow the red arrow, but it only takes me no where..
And it shows up red things on minimap when I see ore, but they disappear and are not correct.
Also, I thought this would take me to current skill lvl nodes, not things i'm not lvled for?
The Arrow pulls toward actual current Nodes, or potential node spawn areas?
If its the 2nd of the 2, is it compatible with other databases like Gatherer?
Tybudd33,
Yes the arrow pulls towards potential node spawns, and right now it is not compatible with other databases like gatherer, however if you happen to find an area/node that is missed in the database, feel free to file a ticket with the coordinates and what type of node it was. I will be happy to add them in.
@Sairled
I have the exact same problem on my DK... the addon works perfectly on my herbalist but on my DK that is a miner it won't work... i tried A LOT of things already
Do I need the first Bloodhound for Bloodhound2 to work?
No. They are 2 separate addons.
I am having problems with this it works fine on 3 chars. but on my druid it does not work at all can anyone help me with this
Big thanks for this Add-on, I tried it out for the first time just now. BH2 was FAR more efficient for me than running static routes. All I did was let it lead me around Hellfire, the results were fantastic. It did send me in a circle once or twice, but it also lead me to a lot of nodes I would have missed otherwise.
/hi-five!
As for mem use, it averaged 3.87 for me with a spike to 10 occasionally and it was still less than the Undermine Journal most of the time and that is a static add-on. I imagine you can dial it down a bit by narrowing what it is loking for and disabling cross-zone. But I haven't tested.. It's fine like it is for me.
Is this supposed to be utterly massive?
18 MB of memory. Sometimes it shoots up to 30.
When finding Herbs, the red dots on the minimap will disappear once I get into a certain distance, but when looking for Ores it just slowly becomes transparent. Why isn't it also like Herbs :(
I love the arrow in the addon. Much better then following a static line like in Routes. I'm not quite so crazy for the big red icons on the minimap. I feel like they may hide some active nodes that may be a little outside the route, but would still be visible normally. Is there any way to adjust them like make them smaller or a bit more transparent? Thanks for your time and hard work!
My add on doesn't work? At settings it shows blank
I don't want to file another ticket at Ace because you specifically told me to file it when I have an error to report. I still have 0 errors and it doesn't do anything.
