wtf? all wow Addon's are open source - simply LUA scripts + XML frame

I'm having serious problems with my cartographer. The Map is distorted and I get lost using it so I finally just took the thing off. If your not going to continually update this addon, then just take it off.

e no plans to do any major bug fixes for Cartographer (v2 or v3). If there is an update it will only be a minor fix. (It has already been this way since at least 2008.) Cartographer(v2) uses an outdated framework that will not be updated in the case of major breakages so Cartographer(v2) would require a complete rewrite. Neither of the two main developers (Ckknight and Arrowmaster) have the time nor desire to do this currently. Occasionally a new version might be released to include fixes made by other developers or new versions of embedded libraries."

*sigh* i bet if someone payed them theyed do it...its a shame...they should make it open scorce...so if someone wanted to they could fix it

Would it be possible to get the source code for Cartographer or to make it open source? A lot of people really liked this AddOn and it is such a shame for it to die like this...

Addons are plan text what you put in your addon folder IS the source code.

was a nice add on until 3.3 now it break all the friggin' time and doesn't work with the new objective tracker (I think) and before that I liked 3.0 even more, but that broke a long time ago and is not being updated :(

I stopped using Cartographer and now use Mapster.

It offers what i need from Cartographer - scaling and moving of map, class colors and group numbers on map and bg minimap.

I haven't tried it myself but I found a new version here:

I think that's the same author's experimental version of Cartographer that uses Google code. Or it's supposed to act like Google maps. At least, that's my understanding of it.

To continue my previous post,

Apparantly, it had to do something with the current quests that I had available in my quest log. Without any addons loaded at all and with "Show Lua Errors turned off" in the options menu, I deleted and/or abandoned all my quests. I reloaded my UIF, exited wow, installed 3 other addons including one that changes the whole map layout, started wow again, turned on "Show Lua Errors" and so far no problems. I dont know if I still get errors and strange icons that shouldn't be there when I play WoW without any addons loaded at all, but so far everything is good :)

I wish someone would take over the development of this.

My dungeon maps break with the new Blizz maps. They do not adjust and it looks awful.

I have sent messages to both ckknight and Arrowmaster asking to let me continue the development of this add. So far, no response, so we'll see.
