Chatter
Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:
- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel
am i wrong in seeing you're running chatter v1.0 instead of the new v1.3.5?
Any word when Automatic Whisper Windows will support whispers that come from people added via BattleTags?
Any word on when Automatic Whisper Windows will support whispers from players added with BattleTags?
Been using Chatter since the beginning of Wrath. In all that time, the mousewheel scroll function has never done anything. It always scrolls at one line per roll, no matter what it is set to. Is this a known issue?
Try disabling Blizzard's own mousewheel scroll option in Interface/Social.
On a related note, Chatter's mousewheel scroll sometimes fails to work at all - requiring it to be manually disabled then re-enabled
Where's the PIC?!
@Melari
I've been using chatter for a long time now and never had either of these issues.
Hi,
Love Chatter and recently swapped over from prat.
I had one question though that I've not been able to figure out. Is there a way to keep whatever dialogue was present from when I logged out? As it stands now, any conversation is wiped out if I log out and log back in.
Is there a way to have Chatter keep the previous dialogue as if I'd never logged out?
Thx for any help :)
Hey - How do I update the Toast Icon offset? I'm changing the offset and trying to disable it... etc. etc... Nothing is changing this. It went from being right above my chat box to right in the middle of the screen. I'm annoyed with it.
Thanks!
Prat is having similar problems. I was looking at this addon in the hopes of solving some of the problems I'm having with Prat. Guess it's possible it's a WoW problem and not an addon one.
I used to have the pink reply box pop up when i clicked on chat before but i haven't since the update. Maybe try a fresh clean install and wipe out any old saved variables youve got.
I've already tried that. It didn't help.
Chatter is still broken in these regards :(
Still a lot of issues with this addon. Any ETA on when they'll be fixed?
When I use the usual 'R' to reply to a whisper, nothing happens. If I manually click on the chat, click on the peron's name who's sent me a whisper I want to reply to, I can type a reply just fine and it looks like it is going to them (as in their name is showing up and the writing is pink). As soon as I hit enter, it goes to the person the first time. And the first time only. If I reply to a whisper a second time, by clicking the name of the person who whispers me, it will automatically sends my second reply out in /say.
Tabbing to get to the second person, if more than one has sent you whispers doesn't work either.
And there are more minor issues, but these are the major ones, which are causing me to have to look for another chatmod soon. There's been a few updates since the big mod-breaking patch and I do need a mod that works.
So, any ETA on a fix or should I expect to have to use prat instead? :(
I'm actually having this same issue I love chatter and have used it religiously and whenever it breaks I feel naked since the blizzard chat UI is so akward compared to it I'm hoping a fix comes soon cause not being able to reply with the R key is getting rather annoying :(
love this addon, have a chance to add function to config chat bubble?
When I choose color names by class, the colored class names will only work for myself and my guild, will not work for party or trade/general chat. Haven't tried raid yet. If someone is in my guild however it will show up in the trade/general chat.
Love the addon and look forward to any updates!
I would have sworn that Chatter had a feature that allowed for the placement of the chat frame scroll buttons on either side of the frame. Has this feature been removed or am I thinking of a different addon, or ... have I finally lost my mind completely?
So is this addon still working or is it now broken beyond repair, i realy prefer it over others but for me the part that i could no longer use guild chat or chat with my rlid friends was too much.
A LOT of addons are having this issue, its a problem with globals supposedly, just have to wait for a fix (nothing to do until then).
Still having problems with changing glyphs. for some reason only chatter is in the way... Would you like my addon list? or does someone have this problem as well?
